1 UNkulunkulu wasebusisa uNowa lamadodana akhe, wathi kibo: Zalani lande ligcwalise umhlaba.
And God blesses Noah and his sons, and says to them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth;
2 Lokwesatshwa kwenu lokuqhuqhwa kwenu kuzakuba phezu kwayo yonke inyamazana yomhlaba laphezu kwayo yonke inyoni yamazulu; kukho konke okuhamba emhlabeni lakuzo zonke inhlanzi zolwandle; zinikelwe ezandleni zenu.
and your fear and your dread is on every beast of the earth, and on every bird of the heavens, on all that creeps on the ground, and on all fishes of the sea—into your hand they have been given.
3 Konke okuhambayo okuphilayo kuzakuba yikudla kini; njengombhida oluhlaza ngilinikile konke.
Every creeping thing that is alive, to you it is for food; as the green herb I have given to you the whole;
4 Kodwa inyama lempilo yayo, igazi layo, kalisoze likudle.
only flesh in its life—its blood—you do not eat.
5 Njalo sibili, igazi lenu, elempilo yenu, ngizalibiza; esandleni sayo yonke inyamazana ngizalibiza; lesandleni somuntu, lesandleni somfowabo womunye lomunye ngizabiza umphefumulo womuntu.
And only your blood for your lives do I require; from the hand of every living thing I require it, and from the hand of man, from the hand of every man’s brother I require the life of man;
6 Ochitha igazi lomuntu, ngomuntu lizachithwa igazi lakhe; ngoba ngomfanekiso kaNkulunkulu wamenza umuntu.
whoever sheds man’s blood, by man is his blood shed: for in the image of God has He made man.
7 Ngakho lina, zalani, lande, lizale ngokwengezelelweyo emhlabeni, lande kuwo.
And you, be fruitful and multiply, teem in the earth, and multiply in it.”
8 UNkulunkulu wasekhuluma kuNowa lakumadodana akhe kanye laye, esithi:
And God speaks to Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9 Mina-ke, khangelani, ngiyamisa isivumelwano sami lani lenzalo yenu emva kwenu,
“And I, behold, I am establishing My covenant with you, and with your seed after you,
10 laso sonke isidalwa esiphilayo esilani, esenyoni lesesifuyo, lesayo yonke inyamazana yomhlaba lani; kusukela kubo bonke abaphume emkhunjini, kusiya kuyo yonke inyamazana yomhlaba.
and with every living creature which [is] with you, among bird, among livestock, and among every beast of the earth with you, from all who are going out of the Ark—to every beast of the earth.
11 Njalo ngizamisa isivumelwano sami lani; njalo kakusayikubhujiswa yonke inyama ngamanzi kazamcolo; ukuze kungasabi khona uzamcolo ukubhubhisa umhlaba.
And I have established My covenant with you, and all flesh is not cut off anymore by waters of a flood, and there is not a flood to destroy the earth anymore.”
12 UNkulunkulu wasesithi: Lokhu kuyisibonakaliso sesivumelwano engisinika phakathi kwami lani laso sonke isidalwa esiphilayo esilani, kuze kube yizizukulwana laphakade.
And God says, “This is a token of the covenant which I am giving between Me and you, and every living creature that [is] with you, to continuous generations;
13 Ngizamisa umchilowamakhosikazi wami emayezini; uzakuba yisibonakaliso sesivumelwano phakathi kwami lomhlaba.
My bow I have given in the cloud, and it has been for a token of a covenant between Me and the earth;
14 Kuzakuthi nxa ngibuyisa amayezi phezu komhlaba, umchilowamakhosikazi uzabonwa eyezini;
and it has come to pass (in My sending a cloud over the earth) that the bow has been seen in the cloud,
15 khona ngizakhumbula isivumelwano sami, esiphakathi kwami lani laso sonke isidalwa esiphilayo sayo yonke inyama; lamanzi kawasayikuba nguzamcolo ukubhubhisa yonke inyama.
and I have remembered My covenant which is between Me and you, and every living creature among all flesh, and the waters no longer become a flood to destroy all flesh;
16 Lomchilowamakhosikazi uzakuba semayezini, njalo ngizawubona ukukhumbula isivumelwano esilaphakade phakathi kukaNkulunkulu laso sonke isidalwa esiphilayo, sayo yonke inyama esemhlabeni.
and the bow has been in the cloud, and I have seen it—to remember the perpetual covenant between God and every living creature among all flesh which [is] on the earth.”
17 UNkulunkulu wasesithi kuNowa: Lokhu kuyisibonakaliso sesivumelwano engisimise phakathi kwami layo yonke inyama esemhlabeni.
And God says to Noah, “This [is] a token of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that [is] on the earth.”
18 Amadodana kaNowa aphumayo-ke emkhunjini ayengoShemu loHamu loJafethi; njalo uHamu nguyise kaKhanani.
And the sons of Noah who are going out of the Ark are Shem, and Ham, and Japheth; and Ham is father of Canaan.
19 Laba bobathathu ngamadodana kaNowa; lomhlaba wonke wasatshalaliswa ngokuvela kubo.
These three [are] sons of Noah, and from these has all the earth been overspread.
20 UNowa waseqala ukuba ngumlimi, wahlanyela isivini.
And Noah remains a man of the ground, and plants a vineyard,
21 Wasenatha okwewayini, wadakwa; njalo waba nqunu phakathi kwethente lakhe.
and drinks of the wine, and is drunken, and uncovers himself in the midst of the tent.
22 UHamu, uyise kaKhanani, wasebona ubunqunu bukayise, wasetshela abafowabo ababili phandle.
And Ham, father of Canaan, sees the nakedness of his father, and declares to his two brothers outside.
23 OShemu loJafethi basebethatha isembatho, basibeka emahlombe abo bobabili, bahamba nyovane, bagubuzela ubunqunu bukayise; lobuso babo babusemuva ukuze bangaboni ubunqunu bukayise.
And Shem takes—Japheth also—the garment, and they place on the shoulder of them both, and go backward, and cover the nakedness of their father; and their faces [are] backward, and their father’s nakedness they have not seen.
24 UNowa wasevuka ewayinini lakhe, wakwazi lokho indodana yakhe encinyane ekwenze kuye.
And Noah awakens from his wine, and knows that which his young son has done to him,
25 Wasesithi: Kaqalekiswe uKhanani, uzakuba yisigqili sezigqili kubafowabo.
and says: “Cursed [is] Canaan, Servant of servants he is to his brothers.”
26 Wasesithi: Ibusisiwe iNkosi uNkulunkulu kaShemu, loKhanani abe yisigqili sakhe.
And he says: “Blessed of my God YHWH [is] Shem, And Canaan is servant to him.
27 UNkulunkulu amqhelise uJafethi, njalo ahlale emathenteni kaShemu, loKhanani abe yisigqili sakhe.
God gives beauty to Japheth, And he dwells in tents of Shem, And Canaan is servant to him.”
28 Emva kukazamcolo uNowa wasephila iminyaka engamakhulu amathathu lamatshumi amahlanu.
And Noah lives after the flood three hundred and fifty years;
29 Zonke-ke insuku zikaNowa zaba yiminyaka engamakhulu ayisificamunwemunye lamatshumi amahlanu; wasesifa.
and all the days of Noah are nine hundred and fifty years, and he dies.
