1 Siyalincenga-ke, bazalwane, mayelana lokufika kweNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu, lokubuthana kwethu kuyo,

Now we plead to you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 ukuthi lingaphangisi liqhuqhiswe engqondweni, kumbe lethuswe, loba ngumoya, loba yilizwi, loba yincwadi ngokungathi ivela kithi, ngokungathi usuku lukaKristu selufikile.

That all of you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, (pneuma) nor by word, (logos) nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Kakungabi lamuntu olikhohlisayo langayiphi indlela; ngoba aluyikufika ngaphandle kokuthi ukuhlubuka kufike kuqala, lomuntu wesono embulwe, indodana yokubhujiswa,

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 omelana azikhukhumeze phezu kwakho konke okuthiwa nguNkulunkulu loba yinto ekhonzwayo, aze ahlale ethempelini likaNkulunkulu njengoNkulunkulu, ezitshaya uNkulunkulu.

Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5 Kalikhumbuli yini ukuthi ngiseselani ngalitshela lezizinto?

Remember all of you not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 Selikwazi khathesi okuvimbelayo, ukuze embulwe ngesakhe isikhathi.

And now all of you know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time.

7 Ngoba imfihlo yokungabi lomthetho isasebenza; kuphela kukhona ovimbelayo okwalesisikhathi, aze asuswe phakathi,

For the mystery of iniquity does already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 khona-ke ezakwembulwa oNgelamthetho, iNkosi ezamqeda ngokuphefumula komlomo wayo, izambhubhisa ngokubonakala kokufika kwayo;

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit (pneuma) of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 lowo okufika kwakhe kunjengokusebenza kukaSathane emandleni wonke lezibonakalisweni lezimangalisweni zamanga,

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 lenkohlisweni yonke yokungalungi kulabo ababhubhayo, ngoba kabemukelanga uthando lweqiniso ukuze basindiswe.

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love (agape) of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 Ngenxa yalokhu-ke uNkulunkulu uzabathumezela amandla enkohliso, ukuze bakholwe amanga;

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 ukuze balahlwe bonke abangakholwanga iqiniso, kodwa bathokoza kukho ukungalungi.

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

13 Kodwa thina simele ukubonga uNkulunkulu njalonjalo ngani, bazalwane abathandwa beNkosi, ukuthi uNkulunkulu walikhethela usindiso kusukela ekuqaleni, ekungcwelisweni koMoya, lokholo lweqiniso;

But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit (pneuma) and belief of the truth:

14 owalibizela kulokhu ngevangeli lethu, ekuzuzeni inkazimulo yeNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu.

Unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Ngakho-ke, bazalwane, manini liqine, libambelele ezimfundisweni elazifundiswayo, loba ngelizwi, kumbe ngencwadi yethu.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which all of you have been taught, whether by word, (logos) or our epistle.

16 Kakuthi-ke iNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu uqobo, loNkulunkulu, ngitsho uBaba wethu owasithandayo, lowasinika induduzo elaphakade lethemba elihle ngomusa, (aiōnios g166)

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, (aiōnios g166)

17 aduduze inhliziyo zenu, aliqinise emazwini lemisebenzini yonke emihle.

Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word (logos) and work.
