1 UDavida wasekhuluma eNkosini amazwi alelihubo mhla iNkosi imkhulula esandleni sezitha zakhe zonke lesandleni sikaSawuli.
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
2 Wasesithi: INkosi ilidwala lami, lenqaba yami, lomkhululi wami;
and he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine;
3 uNkulunkulu wedwala lami, ngizaphephela kuye, isihlangu sami, lophondo losindiso lwami, inqaba yami ephakemeyo, lesiphephelo sami, umsindisi wami; ungisindisile odlakeleni.
The God of my rock, in him will I trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge; my saviour, thou savest me from violence.
4 Ngizabiza iNkosi edumisekayo, ngakho ngizasindiswa ezitheni zami.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
5 Ngoba izinsizi zokufa zingizingelezele, lezikhukhula zobubi zangethusa.
For the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
The cords of Sheol were round about me: the snares of death came upon me. (Sheol h7585)
7 Ekuhluphekeni kwami ngayibiza iNkosi, ngakhala kuNkulunkulu wami; waselizwa ilizwi lami esethempelini lakhe, lokukhala kwami kwafinyelela endlebeni zakhe.
In my distress I called upon the LORD, yea, I called unto my God: and he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry [came] into his ears.
8 Khona umhlaba wazamazama, wanyikinyeka, izisekelo zamazulu zaqhaqhazela, zazamazama, ngoba wayethukuthele.
Then the earth shook and trembled, the foundations of heaven moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
9 Kwenyuka intuthu emakhaleni akhe, lomlilo ophuma emlonyeni wakhe waqothula; amalahle avuthiswa yiwo.
There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
10 Wasekhothamisa amazulu, wehlela phansi; lomnyama onzima wawungaphansi kwenyawo zakhe.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and thick darkness was under his feet.
11 Wasegada ikherubhi, waphapha, wabonakala phezu kwempiko zomoya.
And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
12 Wasemisa umnyama waba ngamadumba inhlangothi zonke zakhe, lokuqoqana kwamanzi, amayezi amnyama omkhathi.
And he made darkness pavilions round about him, gathering of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
13 Ekukhazimuleni okuphambi kwakhe kwavuthiswa amalahle omlilo.
At the brightness before him coals of fire were kindled.
14 INkosi yaduma isemazulwini, loPhezukonke walikhupha ilizwi lakhe.
The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice.
15 Yathuma imitshoko, yabachitha; imibane, yabaphaphathekisa.
And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.
16 Khona kwabonakala imisele yolwandle, kwembulwa izisekelo zomhlaba, ekusoleni kweNkosi, ekuvutheleni komoya wamakhala ayo.
Then the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were laid bare, by the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
17 Iphezulu yathuma, yangibamba, yangenyula emanzini amanengi.
He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
18 Yangophula esitheni sami esilamandla, kwabangizondayo, ngoba babelamandla kulami.
He delivered me from my strong enemy, from them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.
19 Babephambi kwami osukwini lwenhlupheko yami, kodwa iNkosi yaba yisisekelo sami.
They came upon me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
20 Yangikhuphela endaweni ebanzi, yangikhulula, ngoba yayithokoza ngami.
He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
21 INkosi yangivuza njengokulunga kwami, yangibuyisela njengokuhlanzeka kwezandla zami.
The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
22 Ngoba ngizilondolozile indlela zeNkosi, kangisukanga kuNkulunkulu wami ngenkohlakalo.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
23 Ngoba zonke izahlulelo zayo zaziphambi kwami, lezimiso zayo, kangiphambukanga kuzo.
For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
24 Njalo ngangiqondile phambi kwayo, ngizinqandile ebubini bami.
I was also perfect toward him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
25 Ngakho iNkosi ingibuyisele njengokulunga kwami, njengokuhlanzeka kwami phambi kwamehlo ayo.
Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eyesight.
26 Kolesihawu uzaziveza ulesihawu; koqotho uzaziveza uqotho;
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, with the perfect man thou wilt shew thyself perfect;
27 kohlanzekileyo uzaziveza uhlanzekile; lakophambukileyo uzaziveza uphambukile.
With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt shew thyself froward.
28 Labantu abahlutshwayo uzabasindisa, kodwa amehlo akho aphezu kwabaziphakamisayo, uzabehlisela phansi.
And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
29 Ngoba uyisibane sami, Nkosi, iNkosi izakhanyisa-ke ubumnyama bami.
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
30 Ngoba ngawe ngigijimile ngadabula phakathi kwebutho, ngoNkulunkulu wami ngeqe umthangala.
For by thee I run upon a troop: by my God do I leap over a wall.
31 UNkulunkulu; indlela yakhe iphelele; ilizwi leNkosi lihloliwe; uyisihlangu kubo bonke abaphephela kuye.
As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried; he is a shield unto all them that trust in him.
32 Ngoba ngubani onguNkulunkulu ngaphandle kweNkosi? Njalo ngubani olidwala ngaphandle kukaNkulunkulu wethu?
For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
33 UNkulunkulu uyinqaba yami lamandla, owenza indlela yami iphelele.
God is my strong fortress: and he guideth the perfect in his way.
34 Owenza inyawo zami zibe njengezezimpala, wangimisa ezingqongeni zami.
He maketh his feet like hinds’ [feet]: and setteth me upon my high places.
35 Ofundisela izandla zami impi, ukuze idandili lethusi ligotshiswe zingalo zami.
He teacheth my hands to war; so that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.
36 Unginikile lesihlangu sosindiso lwakho, lokuzithoba kwakho kungikhulisile.
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
37 Wenze laba banzi inyathelo lami ngaphansi kwami, ukuze inqagala zami zingatsheleli.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.
38 Ngixotshene lezitha zami ngazibhubhisa, kangibuyanga ngaze ngaziqeda.
I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
39 Ngaziqeda, ngazigwaza, ukuze zingavuki; kodwa zawa ngaphansi kwenyawo zami.
And I have consumed them, and smitten them through, that they cannot arise; yea, they are fallen under my feet.
40 Ngoba ungibhincise amandla kusenzelwa impi, wabakhothamisela phansi kwami abangivukelayo.
For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
41 Unginike intamo yezitha zami, labo abangizondayo ngababhubhisa.
Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me, that I might cut off them that hate me.
42 Bakhangela, kodwa engekho umsindisi; eNkosini, kodwa kayibaphendulanga.
They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
43 Ngasengibacholisisa njengothuli lomhlaba, ngabagxoba njengodaka lwezitalada, ngabatsahaza.
Then did I beat them small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the streets, and did spread them abroad.
44 Wasungikhulula ekuphikiseni kwabantu bami, wangigcina ngiyinhloko yezizwe; abantu engangingabazi bangisebenzela.
Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people; thou hast kept me to be the head of the nations: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
45 Abezizweni bazazehlisela phansi kimi; bangenela ukuzwa ngendlebe bazangilalela.
The strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me.
46 Abezizweni bazabuna, baphume ezinqabeni zabo bethuthumela.
The strangers shall fade away, and shall come trembling out of their close places.
47 INkosi iyaphila; njalo kalibusiswe idwala lami, kaphakanyiswe uNkulunkulu, idwala losindiso lwami;
The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation:
48 uNkulunkulu onginika impindiselo, lowehlisela izizwe ngaphansi kwami;
Even the God that executeth vengeance for me, and bringeth down peoples under me,
49 longikhupha ezitheni zami; laphezu kwabangivukelayo wena wangiphakamisa; lemuntwini wodlakela wangikhulula.
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me: thou deliverest me from the violent man.
50 Ngenxa yalokhu ngizakudumisa, Nkosi, phakathi kwezizwe, ngihubele ibizo lakho indumiso.
Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises unto thy name.
51 Ingumphotshongo wosindiso kuyo inkosi yayo, isenzela ogcotshiweyo wayo umusa, kuDavida, lenzalweni yakhe kuze kube nininini.
Great deliverance giveth he to his king: and sheweth lovingkindness to his anointed, to David and to his seed, for evermore.
