1 USimoni Petro, inceku lomphostoli kaJesu Kristu, kulabo abazuze ukholo oluligugu njengathi ngokulunga kukaNkulunkulu wethu loMsindisi wethu uJesu Kristu:
Symeon Peter, a servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to them who have obtained like precious faith with us, through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Kakwandiswe kini umusa lokuthula elwazini lukaNkulunkulu lolukaJesu iNkosi yethu.
Favor and peace be multiplied to you, through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
3 Njengamandla akhe obuNkulunkulu asinike zonke izinto ezimayelana lempilo lokukhonza uNkulunkulu, ngokolwazi lwalowo owasibiza ngobukhosi langobuhle;
As his divine power has gifted to us all things which are necessary to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us to glory and virtue.
4 okungakho siphiwe izithembiso ezinkulu kakhulu leziligugu, ukuze ngalezi libe ngabahlanganyeli bemvelo yobuNkulunkulu, seliphephe ekuboleni okusemhlabeni ngenxa yenkanuko.
On account of which, the greatest and most precious promises are freely given to us, that by these we might be made partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world, through lust.
5 Njalo ngenxa yalokhu-ke selenze yonke inkuthalo, yengezelelani ukulunga ekholweni lwenu, lekulungeni ulwazi,
And for this very reason, indeed, giving all diligence, add to your faith, courage; and to courage, knowledge;
6 lelwazini ukuzithiba, lekuzithibeni ukubekezela, lekubekezeleni ukwesaba uNkulunkulu,
and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness;
7 lekwesabeni uNkulunkulu uthando lwabazalwane, lethandweni lwabazalwane uthando.
and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love:
8 Ngoba uba lezizinto zikhona kini, njalo zisanda, kaziyikulenza livilaphe njalo lingabi lezithelo elwazini lweNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu;
for these things being in you, and abounding, make you to be neither slothful, nor unfruitful, in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 ngoba ongelazo lezizinto, uyisiphofu ubonela eduze, esekhohlwe ukuthi wahlanjululwa ezonweni zakhe ezindala.
But he who has not these things, is blind, shutting his eyes, having become forgetful of the purification of his old sins.
10 Ngakho, bazalwane, tshisekelani kakhulu ukuqinisa ubizo lokhetho lwenu; ngoba uba lisenza lezizinto, kalisoze likhubeke loba nini.
Wherefore, the rather, brethren, earnestly endeavor to make your calling and election sure; for doing these things, you shall never fall;
11 Ngoba ngokunjalo lizakwengezelelwa ngokukhulu ukungena embusweni ophakade weNkosi yethu loMsindisi uJesu Kristu. (aiōnios g166)
and thus there shall be richly ministered to you, an entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 Ngakho kangisoze ngiyekele ukulikhumbuza njalonjalo ngalezizinto, lanxa lisazi, njalo liqinisiwe eqinisweni elikhona.
Wherefore, I will not neglect to put you always in remembrance of these things, although you know, and are established in the present truth.
13 Njalo ngibona kulungile ukuthi, nxa ngisesekhona kulelithabhanekele, ngilivuse ngesikhumbuzo;
Yes, I think it fit, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up, by putting you in remembrance;
14 ngisazi ukuthi kuyaphangisa ukususwa kwethabhanekele lami, njengalokhu leNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu ingitshengisile.
knowing, that the putting off of this, my tabernacle, is soon to happen, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.
15 Kodwa lami ngizakhuthala ukuthi ngezikhathi zonke emva kokusuka kwami libe lesikhumbuzo salezizinto.
Therefore, I will carefully endeavor that you may be able, after my decease, to have these things always in remembrance.
16 Ngoba sasingalandeli izinganekwane zobuqili, lapho silazisa amandla lokuza kweNkosi yethu uJesu Kristu, kodwa sasingabazibonelayo ubukhulu bayo.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his grandeur;
17 Ngoba wemukela udumo lobukhosi okuvela kuNkulunkulu uBaba, lapho ilizwi elinje lafikiswa kuye ngenkazimulo yobukhosi lisithi: Le yiNdodana yami ethandekayo mina engithokoza kuyo;
for when he received from God the Father honor and glory, a vice to this effect came to him from the magnificent glory, "This is my Son, the beloved, in whom I delight."
18 lalelilizwi thina salizwa livela ezulwini, lapho sasilaye entabeni engcwele.
And this voice we heard come from heaven, being with him on the holy mountain:
19 Njalo silelizwi eliqinileyo kakhulu lesiprofetho, elenza kuhle ukuliqaphelisa njengesibane esikhanyayo endaweni emnyama, luze lukhanye usuku, lekhwezi liphumele enhliziyweni zenu;
so we have the prophetic word more firm; to which you do well to take heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till the day dawn, and the morning star arise in your hearts.
20 lisazi lokhu kuqala, ukuthi kasikho isiprofetho sombhalo esivela kungcazelo engeyakhe.
Knowing this first, that no prophecy brought by the will of man;
21 Ngoba kakuzanga kulethwe isiprofetho ngentando yomuntu, kodwa abantu abangcwele bakaNkulunkulu bakhuluma beqhutshwa nguMoya oNgcwele.
but the holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
