1 Abantu belizwe basebethatha uJehowahazi indodana kaJosiya, bambeka waba yinkosi esikhundleni sikayise eJerusalema.
Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and they anointed him and made him king in his father's place in Jerusalem.
2 UJehowahazi wayeleminyaka engamatshumi amabili lantathu esiba yinkosi; wasebusa inyanga ezintathu eJerusalema.
Joahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 Inkosi yeGibhithe yasimsusa eseJerusalema, yahlawulisa ilizwe amathalenta esiliva alikhulu lethalenta legolide.
The king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem, and fined the land one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
4 Inkosi yeGibhithe yasibeka uEliyakhimi umfowabo abe yinkosi phezu kukaJuda leJerusalema, yaguqula ibizo lakhe yathi nguJehoyakhimi. UNeko wasethatha uJehowahazi umfowabo wamletha eGibhithe.
The king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. Neco took Joahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
5 UJehoyakhimi wayeleminyaka engamatshumi amabili lanhlanu esiba yinkosi; wasebusa iminyaka elitshumi lanye eJerusalema. Wenza okubi emehlweni eNkosi uNkulunkulu wakhe.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH his God.
6 Kwenyukela kuye uNebhukadinezari inkosi yeBhabhiloni, wambopha ngamaketane ethusi, ukumusa eBhabhiloni.
Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
7 UNebhukadinezari waseletha okwezitsha zendlu yeNkosi eBhabhiloni, wakufaka ethempelini lakhe eBhabhiloni.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of YHWH to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
8 Ezinye-ke zezindaba zikaJehoyakhimi, lamanyala akhe awenzayo, lokwatholakala kuye, khangela, kubhaliwe egwalweni lwamakhosi akoIsrayeli loJuda. UJehoyakhini indodana yakhe wasesiba yinkosi esikhundleni sakhe.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, look, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
9 UJehoyakhini wayeleminyaka eyisificaminwembili esiba yinkosi; wasebusa inyanga ezintathu lensuku ezilitshumi eJerusalema. Wenza okubi emehlweni eNkosi.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH.
10 Lekuthwaseni komnyaka inkosi uNebhukadinezari yathuma yamletha eBhabhiloni, kanye lezitsha eziloyisekayo zendlu yeNkosi; yasibeka uZedekhiya umfowabo abe yinkosi phezu kukaJuda leJerusalema.
At the return of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of YHWH, and made Zedekiah his relative king over Judah and Jerusalem.
11 UZedekhiya wayeleminyaka engamatshumi amabili lanye esiba yinkosi; wasebusa iminyaka elitshumi lanye eJerusalema.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem:
12 Wasesenza okubi emehlweni eNkosi uNkulunkulu wakhe; kazithobanga phambi kukaJeremiya umprofethi, ekhuluma okomlomo weNkosi.
and he did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH his God; he did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of YHWH.
13 Laye wasevukela inkosi uNebhukadinezari eyayimfungise ngoNkulunkulu, wenza yaba lukhuni intamo yakhe, waqinisa inhliziyo yakhe, okokuthi kaphendukelanga eNkosini, uNkulunkulu kaIsrayeli.
He also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to YHWH, the God of Israel.
14 Futhi zonke induna zabapristi labantu banda ekuphambukeni ngeziphambeko njengawo wonke amanyala ezizwe, bayingcolisa indlu yeNkosi eyayiyingcwelisile eJerusalema.
Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of YHWH which he had made holy in Jerusalem.
15 INkosi, uNkulunkulu waboyise, yasithuma kubo ngesandla sezithunywa zayo, ivuka ngovivi ithuma, ngoba yayilesihawu ebantwini bayo lendaweni yayo yokuhlala.
YHWH, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:
16 Kodwa babezihleka usulu izithunywa zikaNkulunkulu, bedelela amazwi akhe, beklolodela abaprofethi bakhe, lwaze lwavuka ulaka lweNkosi lwamelana labantu bayo kakwaze kwaba leselapho.
but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of YHWH arose against his people, until there was no remedy.
17 Ngakho yabenyusela inkosi yamaKhaladiya eyabulala amajaha abo ngenkemba endlini yendlu yabo engcwele, ingahawukeli ijaha lentombi, omdala lexhegu; yabanikela bonke esandleni sayo.
Therefore he brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or gray-headed: he gave them all into his hand.
18 Lazo zonke izitsha zendlu kaNkulunkulu, ezinkulu lezincinyane, lezinto eziligugu zendlu kaJehova, lezinto eziligugu zenkosi lezeziphathamandla zayo, konke lokhu yakuletha eBhabhiloni.
All the vessels of God's house, great and small, and the treasures of the house of YHWH, and the treasures of the king, and of his officials, all these he brought to Babylon.
19 Basebetshisa indlu kaNkulunkulu, badiliza umduli weJerusalema, batshisa zonke izigodlo zayo ngomlilo, batshabalalisa zonke izitsha zayo eziloyisekayo.
They burnt God's house, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels of it.
20 Yasithumbela eBhabhiloni abasele enkembeni; basebesiba zinceku zayo lezabantwana bayo kwaze kwaba yikubusa kombuso wePerisiya;
He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon; and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:
21 ukugcwalisa ilizwi leNkosi ngomlomo kaJeremiya, ilizwe lize likholise amasabatha alo; lagcina isabatha zonke izinsuku zencithakalo, kwaze kwagcwaliseka iminyaka engamatshumi ayisikhombisa.
to fulfill the word of YHWH by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths. As long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
22 Kwathi ngomnyaka wokuqala kaKoresi inkosi yePerisiya, ekugcwalisekeni kwelizwi leNkosi ngomlomo kaJeremiya, iNkosi yavusa umoya kaKoresi inkosi yePerisiya ukuthi edlulise isimemezelo embusweni wakhe wonke, njalo langombhalo, esithi:
Now in the first year of Koresh king of Persia, that the word of YHWH by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, YHWH stirred up the spirit of Koresh king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
23 Utsho njalo uKoresi inkosi yePerisiya: INkosi, uNkulunkulu wamazulu, inginikile yonke imibuso yomhlaba; layo ingilayile ukuyakhela indlu eJerusalema ekoJuda. Ngubani ophakathi kwenu kubo bonke abantu bayo? INkosi uNkulunkulu wakhe kayibe laye, enyuke.
"Thus says Koresh king of Persia, 'YHWH, the God of heaven, has given all the kingdoms of the earth to me; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, YHWH his God be with him, and let him go up.'"
