1 KuThimothi 2
1 Ngakho kuqala kukho konke ngikhuthaza ukuthi ukunxusa, imikhuleko, ukulabhela, ukubonga kwenzelwe abantu bonke;
I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men,
2 amakhosi, labo bonke abayiziphathamandla, ukuze sichithe impilo elokuthula lepholileyo kukho konke ukukhonza uNkulunkulu lenhlonipho;
for kings and all those who are in prominence, so that we may live a quiet and peaceful life in all piety and propriety.
3 ngoba lokhu kuhle kuyemukeleka phambi kukaNkulunkulu uMsindisi wethu,
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 ofuna ukuthi bonke abantu basindiswe njalo beze elwazini lweqiniso.
who wants all men to be saved and to come to knowledge of truth.
5 Ngoba munye uNkulunkulu, njalo munye umlamuli phakathi kukaNkulunkulu labantu, umuntu uKristu Jesu,
For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Jesus Christ,
6 owazinikela yena ukuba lihlawulo labo bonke, ubufakazi ngezikhathi ezifaneleyo,
who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony for their own times.
7 mina engamiselwa khona ukuba ngumtshumayeli lomphostoli (ngikhuluma iqiniso kuKristu, kangiqambi manga) umfundisi wabezizwe ekholweni leqinisweni.
For which I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie), a teacher of Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Ngakho ngifisa ukuthi amadoda akhuleke kuyo yonke indawo, ephakamisa izandla ezingcwele, engelalaka lokuxabana.
I desire therefore the men to pray in every place, lifting up devout hands, apart from anger and argument.
9 Ngokunjalo labesifazana bazicecise ngezigqoko ezifaneleyo, lenhlonipho lokuqonda, kungabi ngenwele ezelukiweyo, kumbe igolide, kumbe amapharele, kumbe izembatho ezidulayo,
And similarly, the women to adorn themselves in disciplined decorum, with reverence and sobriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive apparel,
10 kodwa, okufanele abesifazana abathi bakhonza uNkulunkulu, ngemisebenzi emihle.
but (which is fitting for women professing godliness) through good works.
11 Owesifazana kafunde ngokuthula ekuzithobeni konke.
Let a woman learn in silence in all subjection.
12 Kodwa kangivumeli owesifazana ukuthi afundise, kumbe abe lamandla phezu kowesilisa, kodwa abe ekuthuleni.
But I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to have authority of a man, but to be in quietness.
13 Ngoba uAdamu wabunjwa kuqala, emva kwalokho uEva;
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 futhi uAdamu kakhohliswanga, kodwa owesifazana esekhohlisiwe waba sesiphambekweni,
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, became in transgression.
15 kodwa uzasindiswa ngokuzala abantwana, uba behlala ekholweni lethandweni lebungcweleni kanye lokuqonda.
But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.
