1 Ngakho, khathesi akusekho ukulahlwa kulabo abakuKhristu uJesu,

Consequently nothing is condemnation now to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to flesh but according to Spirit.

2 ngoba ngoKhristu uJesu umthetho woMoya wokuphila wangikhulula emthethweni wesono lokufa.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus freed me from the law of sin and of death.

3 Ngoba lokho umthetho owawungelamandla okukwenza ngoba waxegiswa yimvelo elesono, uNkulunkulu wakwenza ngokuthuma iNdodana yakhe ngesimo somuntu olesono ukuba ibe ngumnikelo wesono. Ngakho isono yasilahla emuntwini olesono,

For the impotence of the law, in that it was weak because of the flesh, God, having sent his own Son in a form of flesh of sin, and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

4 ukuze izimiso ezilungileyo zomthetho zipheleliswe kithi, thina esingaphili ngokwemvelo yesono, kodwa ngokoMoya.

so that the justice of the law might be fulfilled in us, those who walk not according to flesh, but according to Spirit.

5 Labo abaphila ngokwemvelo yesono ingqondo zabo zigxile kulokho okufiswa yileyomvelo, kodwa labo abaphila ngokwakoMoya ingqondo zabo zigxile kulokho okufiswa nguMoya.

For those who are according to flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those according to Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 Ingqondo yomuntu olesono yikufa, kodwa ingqondo ebuswa nguMoya yikuphila lokuthula;

For the mentality of the flesh is death, but the mentality of the Spirit is life and peace.

7 ingqondo yimvelo yesono iyamzonda uNkulunkulu. Kayiwuvumi umthetho kaNkulunkulu, njalo ayingeke yenze njalo.

Because the mentality of the flesh is enmity against God, for it is not submissive to the law of God, for neither is it able.

8 Labo ababuswa yimvelo yesono abangeke bamthokozise uNkulunkulu.

And those who are in flesh cannot please God.

9 Kodwa lina kalibuswa yimvelo yesono, kodwa nguMoya, nxa uMoya kaNkulunkulu ehlala kini. Njalo nxa umuntu engelaye uMoya kaKhristu, kasuye kaKhristu.

But ye are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, this man is not of him.

10 Kodwa nxa uKhristu ekini, umzimba wenu ufile ngenxa yesono, kodwa umoya wenu uyaphila ngenxa yokulunga.

And if Christ is in you, the body is indeed dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 Njalo nxa uMoya walowo owavusa uKhristu kwabafileyo ehlala kini, yena owavusa uKhristu kwabafileyo, imizimba yenu efayo uzayinika ukuphila ngoMoya wakhe ohlala kini.

But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up the Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwells in you.

12 Ngakho-ke, bazalwane, silomlandu, kodwa kawungabi yimvelo yesono ukuba siphile ngokwawo.

So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live according to flesh.

13 Ngoba nxa liphila ngokwemvelo yesono, lizakufa; kodwa nxa kungoMoya libulala izenzo ezimbi zomzimba, lizaphila,

For if ye live according to flesh, ye are going to die, but if in spirit ye kill the deeds of the body, ye will live.

14 ngoba labo abakhokhelwa nguMoya kaNkulunkulu bangamadodana kaNkulunkulu.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

15 Ngoba kalamukelanga umoya olenza libe yizigqili, ukuze liphile ngokwesaba, kodwa lamukela uMoya wobundodana. Njalo siyamemeza ngawo sithi, “Abha, Baba.”

For ye did not receive a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 UMoya uqobo uyafakaza lomoya wethu ukuthi thina singabantwana bakaNkulunkulu.

The Spirit itself testifies with our spirit, that we are children of God.

17 Ngakho, nxa singabantwana, sizindlalifa, izindlalifa zikaNkulunkulu lezindlalifa kanye loKhristu, nxa sihlanganyela laye impela ezinhluphekweni zakhe ukuze sihlanganyele laye njalo enkazimulweni yakhe.

And if children, also heirs, heirs indeed of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer jointly, so that we may also be glorified jointly.

18 Ngikholwa ukuthi inhlupheko zethu zakhathesi kazifanelanga ukulinganiswa lenkazimulo ezabonakaliswa kithi.

For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not comparable to the glory that is going to be revealed for us.

19 Indalo ilindile ngokulangazelela okukhulu ukuba abantwana bakaNkulunkulu babonakaliswe.

For the eager expectation of the creation is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.

20 Ngoba indalo ihlezi ihlukuluzekile, kungasintando yayo, kodwa kungentando yalowo oyihlukuluzayo, ngethemba

For the creation was made subject to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it in hope.

21 lokuthi indalo yona ngokwayo izakhululwa ebugqilini bokonakala ilethwe enkululekweni elenkazimulo yabantwana bakaNkulunkulu.

Because the creation itself will also be freed from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.

22 Siyakwazi ukuthi indalo yonke ibubula njengosebuhlungwini bokuhelelwa kuze kube khathesi.

For we know that the whole creation is groaning and travailing together until now.

23 Akunjalo kuphela, kodwa lathi uqobo esilezithelo zakuqala zikaMoya, siyabubula ngaphakathi silindile ngokutshiseka ukwamukelwa njengamadodana, ukuhlengwa kwemizimba yethu.

And not only so, but also ourselves who have the first fruit of the Spirit. And we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body.

24 Ngoba ngalelithemba sasindiswa. Kodwa ithemba elibonakalayo kalisilothemba. Ngubani othemba lokho avele eselakho na?

For we were saved to hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For what is seen, why also hope for that?

25 Kodwa nxa sithemba lokho esingakabi lakho, siyakulindela ngokubekezela.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait through patience.

26 Ngokufananayo, uMoya uyasisiza ebuthakathakeni bethu. Kasikwazi okumele sikukhulekele, kodwa uMoya uqobo uyasinxusela ububula okungeke kuchazwe ngamazwi.

And likewise also the Spirit helps our weaknesses, for we know not what we would pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.

27 Njalo yena lowo ohlola inhliziyo zethu uyayazi ingqondo kaMoya, ngoba uMoya uyabanxusela abangcwele ngokwentando kaNkulunkulu.

And he who searches the hearts knows what is the mentality of the Spirit, because he appeals to God for the sanctified.

28 Njalo siyakwazi ukuthi ezintweni zonke uNkulunkulu usebenzela okuhle kulabo abamthandayo, ababizwe ngokwenjongo yakhe.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, who are the called according to purpose.

29 Ngoba labo uNkulunkulu abazi ngaphambilini wabamisela ukuba babe lesimo esifana leseNdodana yakhe, ukuze abe lizibulo phakathi kwabazalwane abanengi.

Because whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be of similar nature of the form of his Son, in order for him to be the firstborn son among many brothers.

30 Labo abamiselayo, wababiza; labo ababizayo, wabenza balunga; labo abenza balunga, wabanika inkazimulo.

And whom he predestined, these he also called, and whom he called, these he also made righteous, and whom he made righteous, these he also glorified.

31 Pho sizakuthini ngalokhu na? Nxa uNkulunkulu elathi ngubani ongamelana lathi na?

What then will we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

32 Yena ongayigodlanga iNdodana yakhe, kodwa wayinikelela thina sonke, angayekela kanjani ukusipha ngesihle izinto zonke kanye layo na?

He who did not even spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how will he not also give us all things with him?

33 Ngubani ozababeka icala labo abakhethwe nguNkulunkulu na? NguNkulunkulu olungisayo.

Who will accuse against the chosen of God? God is he who makes righteous.

34 Ungubani lowo olahlayo? UKhristu Jesu owafayo, okudlula lokho, owavuswayo waphila, usesandleni sokunene sikaNkulunkulu njalo laye uyasinxusela.

Who is he who will condemn? It is Christ who died, but more, who also was raised up, who also is at the right hand of God, who also appeals for us.

35 Ngubani ozasehlukanisa lothando lukaKhristu na? Yikuhlupheka kumbe ukudubeka loba ukuhlukuluzwa kumbe indlala loba ukuhamba ze loba ingozi kumbe inkemba na?

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or restriction, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 Njengoba kulotshiwe ukuthi: “Ngenxa yakho, sikhangelane lokufa ilanga lonke; sithathwa njengezimvu ezizahlatshwa.”

Just as it is written, For thy sake we are killed the whole day long. We are considered as sheep of slaughter.

37 Hatshi, kuzozonke lezizinto singaphezu kokuba ngabanqobi ngaye owasithandayo.

But in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 Ngoba ngiyakholwa ukuthi loba yikufa kumbe ukuphila, loba yizingilosi kumbe amadimoni, loba khathesi kumbe isikhathi esizayo, loba kungamandla bani,

For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor agents, nor principal positions, nor powers, nor things that have come, nor things that are coming,

39 loba kuyikuphakama kumbe ukuzika, loba olunye ulutho kukho konke okudaliweyo, akuyikusehlukanisa lothando lukaNkulunkulu olukuKhristu uJesu iNkosi yethu.

nor height, nor depth, nor any other creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
