1 Kumqondisi wokuhlabelela. Kulandelwa itshuni ethi, “Iluba lesiVumelwano.” Imikithamu kaDavida. Elokufundisa. Lapho alwa lo-Aramu Naharayimu lo-Aramu Zobha, njalo lapho uJowabi athi ekubuyeni kwakhe walahla phansi ama-Edomi azinkulungwane ezilitshumi lambili eSigodini seTswayi. Ususilahlile, Oh Nkulunkulu, wabhidliza izinqaba zethu; ubukade uthukuthele, manje ake usivuselele!
To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2 Usulizamazamisile ilizwe waliqhekeza; namathisela iminkenke yalo ngoba selivevezela.
Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal its breaches; for it shaketh.
3 Ubabonisile abantu bakho izikhathi ezilukhuni; usiphe iwayini elisenza sidiyazele.
Thou hast shown thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4 Kodwa kulabo abakwesabayo usuphakamise uphawu lokubahlanganisa ndawonye.
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. (Selah)
5 Sisindise, usisize ngesandla sakho sokunene, ukuze bonke labo obathandayo bakhululwe.
That thy beloved may be delivered; save [with] thy right hand, and hear me.
6 UNkulunkulu usekhulumile esendlini yakhe engcwele: “Ngokunqoba ngizayaba iShekhemu, ngihlole leSigodi saseSukhothi.
God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth.
7 Ngeyami iGiliyadi, loManase ngowami; u-Efrayimi yisivikelo sekhanda lami, uJuda uyintonga yami yobukhosi.
Gilead [is] mine, and Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of my head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;
8 IMowabi ngumganu wami wokugezela, phezu kuka-Edomi ngiphosela amanyathelo ami; phezu kweFilistiya ngihalalisa umkhosi wokunqoba.”
Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9 Ngubani ozangisa emzini olenqaba na? Ngubani ozangiholela e-Edomi na?
Who will bring me [into] the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
10 Kakusuwe na, Oh Nkulunkulu, wena osusilahlile, ongasaphumi lathi ezimpini zethu?
[Wilt] thou not, O God, [who] hadst cast us off? and [thou], O God, [who] didst not go out with our armies?
11 Ake usisize ezitheni zethu, ngoba usizo lomuntu luyize.
Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.
12 Nxa siloNkulunkulu sizanqoba, njalo uzazinyathelela phansi izitha zethu.
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he will tread down our enemies.
