1 Kumqondisi wokuhlabela. Ihubo likaDavida. Lapho uDoyegi umʼEdomi wayeye kuSawuli wamtshela wathi, “UDavida uye wayangena endlini ka-Ahimeleki.” Kungani uncoma ngobubi, wena somandlase? Kungani utshona untela ilanga lonke, wena olihlazo emehlweni kaNkulunkulu?
“To the chief musician, a Maskil of David, When Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Achimelech.” What vauntest thou thyself of wickedness, O mighty man? the kindness of God endureth all the time.
2 Ulimi lwakho luceba incithakalo; lunjengensingo eloliweyo, wena owenza inkohliso.
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs, like a sharpened razor, thou worker of deceit.
3 Uthanda ububi kulobuhle, amanga kulokukhuluma iqiniso.
Thou lovest evil more than good; falsehood more than speaking righteousness. (Selah)
4 Uyawathanda wonke amanga alimazayo, wena limi olukhohlisayo!
Thou lovest all words of destruction, the tongue of deceit.
5 Ngeqiniso uNkulunkulu uzakwehlisela ukubhubha okungapheliyo: Uzakuhlwitha akukhuphe ethenteni lakho; uzakuquphula akususe elizweni labaphilayo.
[Therefore] God will also destroy thee for ever: he will take thee away, and pluck thee out of his tent, and root thee out of the land of life. (Selah)
6 Abalungileyo bazabona besabe; bazamhleka bathi,
And the righteous shall see it, and they will be afraid, and laugh concerning him:
7 “Nangu-ke manje umuntu lo ongenzanga uNkulunkulu inqaba yakhe kodwa wathemba inotho yakhe enkulu wakhula waba lamandla ngokuwisa abanye!”
“Lo, this is the man that made not God his fortress; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, relied proudly on his mischievous wickedness.”
8 Kodwa mina nginjengesihlahla se-oliva esikhula endlini kaNkulunkulu; ngithembe uthando lukaNkulunkulu olungaphuthiyo nini lanini.
But I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I trust in the kindness of God for ever and ever.
9 Ngizakudumisa lanini ngalokho okwenzileyo; ngizathemba ebizweni lakho, ngoba lihle ibizo lakho. Ngizakudumisa phambi kwabangcwele bakho.
I will thank thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for [it is] good, before thy pious ones.
