1 Ingoma. Ihubo lamaDodana kaKhora. Umkhulu uThixo, ufanele ngokuphindiweyo ukudunyiswa, emzini kaNkulunkulu wethu, intaba yakhe engcwele.
Great is Adonai, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2 Muhle kakhulu ngokuphakama kwakhe, uyintokozo yomhlaba wonke. Njengeziqongo zeZafoni injalo intaba iZiyoni, umuzi weNkosi eNkulu.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], on the north sides, the city of the great King.
3 UNkulunkulu usemithangaleni yawo; ubonisa ukuthi nguye oyinqaba yawo.
In its fortresses God has revealed himself as a strong defense.
4 Kwathi lapho amakhosi ehlanganisa izimpi zawo, lapho ehlasela kanyekanye,
For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.
5 awubona umuzi lo ethuka aphaphatheka esetshaywa luvalo.
They saw it, then they were amazed. They were dismayed. They hurried away.
6 Ahle athuthumela khonapho, ezwa ubuhlungu obuzwiwa ngowesifazane ehelelwa.
Trembling took hold of them there, pain, as of a woman in travail.
7 Wena wabatshabalalisa njengemikhumbi yaseThashishi ibhidlizwa ngumoya wempumalanga.
With the east wind, you break the ships of Tarshish.
8 Lokho esikuzwileyo yikho esikubonileyo emzini kaThixo uSomandla, emzini kaNkulunkulu wethu: uNkulunkulu uzawuvikela lanini.
As we have sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, so we have seen, in the city of Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
9 Phakathi kwethempeli lakho, Oh Nkulunkulu, siyacabanga ngothando lwakho olungaphuthiyo.
We have thought about your chesed ·loving-kindness·, God, in the middle of your temple.
10 Njengebizo lakho, Oh Nkulunkulu, udumo lwakho lufika emikhawulweni yomhlaba; isandla sakho sokunene sigcwele ukulunga.
As is your name, God, so is your tehilah ·praise song· to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Intaba iZiyoni iyathokoza, imizi yakoJuda iyathaba ngezahlulelo zakho.
Let Mount Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] be glad! Let the daughters of Judah [Praised] rejoice, Because of your judgments.
12 Hambahamba eZiyoni, ibhode, bala izilindo zayo eziphezulu,
Walk about Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking], and go around her. Number its towers.
13 nanzelela kuhle imithangala yayo, hlola izinqaba zayo, ukuze ukwazi ukulandisela isizukulwane esizayo.
Mark well her bulwarks. Consider her palaces, that you may tell it to the next generation.
14 Ngoba uNkulunkulu lo nguNkulunkulu wethu nini lanini; uzakuba ngumholi wethu lasekupheleni.
For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.
