1 Ihubo likaDavida ebalekela indodana yakhe u-Abhisalomu. Oh Thixo banengi kangaka abayizitha zami! Banengi kangaka abangihlaselayo!
“A psalm of David, when he fled from before Abshalom his son.” Lord, how numerous are my assailants! how many, that rise up against me!
2 Abanengi bathi ngami, “UNkulunkulu kayikumhlenga.”
Many say of my soul, There is no help for him with God. (Selah)
3 Kodwa wena uyisihlangu sokungivikela, Oh, Thixo, inkazimulo yami, uphakamisa ikhanda lami.
But thou, O Lord, art a shield around me, my glory, and he that lifteth up my head.
4 Ngikhala kakhulu kuThixo uyangiphendula esentabeni yakhe engcwele.
With my voice I call unto the Lord, and he answereth me out of his holy mountain. (Selah)
5 Ngilala phansi ngijumeke; ngibuye ngiphaphame, ngoba uThixo uyangilondoloza.
I laid myself down and slept: I awoke; for the Lord sustaineth me.
6 Angiyikubesaba abangamatshumitshumi ezinkulungwane abangihlaselayo inxa zonke.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have placed themselves round about against me.
7 Phakama, awu Thixo Ngisindise, Oh Nkulunkulu wami. Zibethe zonke izitha zami emhlathini; akhumule amazinyo ababi.
Arise, O Lord, help me, O my God; for thou smitest all my enemies upon the cheek bone: the teeth of the wicked dost thou break.
8 KuThixo kuvela insindiso. Sengathi isibusiso Sakho singaba sebantwini Bakho.
Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing be upon thy people. (Selah)
