1 ElikaDavida. Kuwe, Thixo, ngiphakamisela umphefumulo wami.
David’s. [An Alphabetical Psalm.] Unto thee, O Yahweh, my soul, would I lift:
2 Ngethemba kuwe, ungangiyekeli ngiyangeka, futhi ungayekeli izitha zami zinginqobe.
O my God, in thee, have I put my trust, Let me not be put to shame, Let not my foe exult over me:
3 Kakukho bani othemba lakhe likuwe ozayangiswa lanini, kodwa bazayangiswa abadinga ukulimaza kungelasizatho.
Yea let, none who wait for thee, be put to shame, Let them be put to shame who act covertly without cause!
4 Ngibonisa izindlela Zakho, Oh Thixo, ngifundisa izindlela Zakho;
Thy ways, O Yahweh, let me know, Thy paths, teach thou me:
5 ngikhokhela eqinisweni Lakho ungifundise ngoba unguNkulunkulu, uMsindisi wami, lethemba lami likuwe insuku zonke.
Guide me into thy truth and teach me, for, thou, art my delivering God, For thee, have I waited all the day:
6 Khumbula, Oh Thixo, isihawu Sakho esikhulu kanye lothando, ngoba konke kuvela ekadeni.
Remember thy compassions, O Yahweh, and thy lovingkindnesses, For, from age-past times, have they been.
7 Ungakhumbuli izono zobutsha bami lezindlela zokuhlamuka kwami; ngikhumbula ngokufanele uthando Lwakho, ngoba ulungile, Oh Thixo.
The sins of my youth, and my transgressions, do not thou call to mind, —According to thine own lovingkindness, remember thou me, for the sake of thine own goodness, O Yahweh.
8 UThixo ulungile, uqotho; ngakho weluleka izoni ngezindlela zakhe.
Good and upright, is Yahweh, For this cause, will he direct sinners into the way.
9 Uhola abathobekileyo kulokho okuqondileyo abafundise indlela yakhe.
May he guide patient wronged-ones to be righted, and teach such oppressed-ones his way.
10 Zonke izindlela zikaThixo zilothando, ziyathembeka kulabo abagcina izimiso zesivumelwano Sakhe.
All the paths of Yahweh, are lovingkindness and faithfulness, to such as keep his covenant, and his testimonies.
11 Ngenxa yegama Lakho, Oh Thixo, thethelela ububi bami, loba bubukhulu.
For the sake of thy Name, O Yahweh, Therefore wilt thou pardon mine iniquity, for great it is.
12 Ngubani-ke umuntu omesabayo uThixo? Uzameluleka ngaleyondlela ayimiselweyo.
Who then is the man that revereth Yahweh? Let him direct him into the way he should choose.
13 Uzaphila insuku zakhe ekhomba ngophakathi, lezizukulwane zakhe zizakudla ilifa lelizwe.
His soul, with prosperity, shall tarry, and, his seed, shall possess the land.
14 Bayathenjwa nguThixo labo abamesabayo; ubenza basazi isivumelwano Sakhe.
Intimacy with Yahweh, have they who revere him, His covenant also, he letteth them know.
15 Amehlo ami ahlezi ekuThixo lanini, ngoba nguye kuphela ozakhumula inyawo zami esithiyweni.
Mine eyes, are continually unto Yahweh, —for, he, bringeth, out of the net, my feet.
16 Phendukela kimi ube lobubele lami, ngoba ngilesizungu, ngikhathazekile.
Turn thou unto me, and show me favour, for, alone and oppressed, I am.
17 Inhlupheko zenhliziyo yami sezandile; ngikhulula ekudabukeni kwami.
The distresses of my heart, hath he relieved, —and, out of my straits, brought me forth.
18 Khangela ukukhathazeka kwami lokuhawula kwami, ususe zonke izono zami.
Behold my humiliation and my pain, and take away all my sins.
19 Ake ubone ukuthi izitha zami sezande kangakanani, lokuthi zingizonda kubi kanjani!
Behold my foes, for they abound, —and, with the hatred of violence, do they hate me.
20 Linda impilo yami ungihlenge; ungangiyekeli ngiyangeke, ngoba ngizuza isiphephelo Kuwe.
Oh keep my soul, and rescue me, Let me not be put to shame, for I have sought refuge in thee.
21 Sengathi ubuqotho lokuqonda kungangivikela, ngoba ngizuza isiphephelo Kuwe.
Let, blamelessness and uprightness, watch over me, because I have waited for thee.
22 Hlenga u-Israyeli, Oh Nkulunkulu, kuzozonke inhlupheko zakhe.
Redeem Israel, O God, —out of all his distresses.
