1 Ingoma yemiqanso. Kwathi lapho uThixo ebuyisa izithunjwa eZiyoni, sasinjengabantu abaphuphayo.

A Song of Ascents. When Yahweh brought back the captives of Zion, we were like them who dream:

2 Imilomo yethu yayigcwele ngohleko, lezindimi zethu zicula izingoma zentokozo. Basebesithi abezizwe, “UThixo ubenzele izinto ezimangalisayo.”

Then, was our mouth, filled with laughter, and our tongue with a shout of triumph, —Then, said they among the nations, Yahweh, hath done great things, with these!

3 UThixo usenzele izinto ezimangalisayo, ngakho siyathokoza kakhulu.

Yahweh, hath done great things with us, we are full of joy!

4 Buyisa ukuphumelela kwethu, Oh Thixo, njengemifula eseNegebi.

Bring thou back, O Yahweh, our captives, like channels in the South.

5 Labo abahlanyela ngezinyembezi bazavuna ngezingoma zentokozo.

They who are sowing with tears, with shouting, shall reap:

6 Lowo ophuma ekhala, ethwele inhlanyelo ukuba ayehlanyela uzabuya ngezingoma zentokozo, ethwele izinyanda.

He that, doth indeed go forth, and weep, bearing seed enough to trail along, doth, surely come in, with shouting, bringing his sheaves.
