1 Mbongeni uThixo ngoba ulungile; uthando lwakhe lumi laphakade.
Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
2 U-Israyeli katsho athi: “Uthando lwakhe lumi laphakade.”
Let now the house of Israel say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
3 Kayithi indlu ka-Aroni: “Uthando lwakhe lumi laphakade.”
Let now the house of Aaron say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
4 Akuthi bonke abamesabayo uThixo bathi: “Uthando lwakhe lumi laphakade.”
Let now all that fear the Lord say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
5 Ngathi ngidabukile ngakhala kuThixo, waphendula ngokungikhulula.
I called on the Lord out of affliction: and he listened to me, [so as to bring me] into a wide place.
6 UThixo ulami, angiyikwesaba. Umuntu angenzani kimi na?
The Lord is my helper; and I will not fear what man shall do to me.
7 UThixo ulami; ungumsizi wami. Ngizazinyonkoloza ngegunya izitha zami.
The Lord is my helper; and I shall see [my desire] upon mine enemies.
8 Kungcono ukuphephela kuThixo kulokuthemba umuntu.
[It is] better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man.
9 Kungcono ukuphephela kuThixo kulokuthemba amakhosana.
[It is] better to hope in the Lord, than to hope in princes.
10 Zonke izizwe zangihanqa, kodwa ngegama likaThixo ngazichitha.
All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
11 Zangihanqa inxa zonke kodwa ngegama likaThixo ngazichitha.
They completely compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
12 Zangiminyezela njengezinyosi kodwa zafa masinyane njengokungunguma komlilo wameva; ngebizo likaThixo ngazichitha.
They compassed me about as bees [do] a honeycomb, and they burst into flame as fire amongst thorns: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
13 Ngasunduzelwa emuva ngaphose ngawa, kodwa uThixo wangisiza.
I was thrust, and sorely shaken, that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.
14 UThixo ungamandla ami lengoma yami; yena useyikusindiswa kwami.
The Lord is my strength and my song, and is become my salvation.
15 Imisindo yentokozo lokunqoba iphuma emathenteni abalungileyo: “Isandla sokunene sikaThixo senzile izinto ezinkulu!
The voice of exultation and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord has wrought mightily.
16 Isandla sokunene sikaThixo siphakanyisiwe kakhulu; isandla sokunene sikaThixo senzile izinto ezinkulu!”
The right hand of the Lord has exalted me: the right hand of the Lord has wrought powerfully.
17 Angizukufa kodwa ngizaphila, ngizamemezela lokho akwenzileyo uThixo.
I shall not die, but live, and recount the works of the Lord.
18 UThixo ungitshayile kakhulu, kodwa kanginikelanga ekufeni.
The Lord has chastened me sore: but he has not given me up to death.
19 Ngivulela amasango okulunga; ngizangena ngimbonge uThixo.
Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and give praise to the Lord.
20 Nanti isango likaThixo okungangena khona abalungileyo.
This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter by it.
21 Ngizakubonga, ngoba ungiphendulile; usuyinsindiso yami.
I will give thanks to you; because you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
22 Ilitshe ababelilahlile seliyilona ilitshe lekhoneni;
The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner.
23 uThixo ukwenzile lokhu; njalo kuyamangalisa emehlweni ethu.
This has been done of the Lord; and it is wonderful in our eyes.
24 Leli lilanga alenzileyo uThixo; kasithokoze sijabule ngalo.
This is the day which the Lord has made: let us exult and rejoice in it.
25 Oh Thixo, sisindise; Oh Thixo, siphumelelise.
O Lord, save now: O Lord, send now prosperity.
26 Ubusisiwe lowo obuya ngebizo likaThixo. Siyakubusisa sisendlini kaThixo.
Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
27 UThixo unguNkulunkulu, wenzile ukukhanya kwakhe kwehlela phezu kwethu. Liphethe izingatshana, ngenani edibini lomgido lize liyefika empondweni ze-alithare.
God is the Lord, and he has shined upon us: celebrate the feast with thick [branches, binding the victims] even to the horns of the altar.
28 UnguNkulunkulu wami, ngizakubonga; unguNkulunkulu wami, ngizakuphakamisa.
You are my God, and I will give you thanks: you are my God, and I will exalt you. I will give thanks to you, for you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
29 Mbongeni uThixo ngoba ulungile; uthando lwakhe lumi kuze kube phakade.
Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
