1 Ngiyamthanda uThixo ngoba walizwa ilizwi lami; wezwa ukukhala kwami ngicela umusa.

I love Jehovah, for he hath heard my voice [and] my supplications;

2 Ngoba wangipha indlela yakhe, ngizambiza kokuphela nxa ngisaphila.

For he hath inclined his ear unto me, and I will call upon him during [all] my days.

3 Izibopho zokufa zangithandela, ubuhlungu obukhulu bengcwaba bangehlela; ngagajelwa yikuhlupheka losizi. (Sheol h7585)

The bands of death encompassed me, and the anguish of Sheol took hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow: (Sheol h7585)

4 Ngasengibiza ibizo likaThixo: “Oh Thixo ake ungisindise!”

Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: I beseech thee, Jehovah, deliver my soul.

5 UThixo ulomusa njalo ulungile; uNkulunkulu wethu ulesihawu.

Gracious is Jehovah and righteous; and our God is merciful.

6 UThixo uvikela abalenhliziyo ethobekileyo; ngathi ngihluphekile kakhulu wangisindisa.

Jehovah keepeth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 Phumula njalo, we mphefumulo wami, ngoba uThixo ukwenzile ukulunga.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 Ngoba wena Thixo, uwukhulule umphefumulo wami ekufeni, amehlo ami ezinyembezini, lezinyawo zami azaze zakhubeka,

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.

9 ukuze ngihambe phambi kukaThixo elizweni labaphilayo.

I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living.

10 Ngathembela kuThixo; ngakho ngasengisithi, “Ngiyahlupheka kakhulu.”

I believed, therefore have I spoken. As for me, I was greatly afflicted.

11 Ngiphakathi kokulahla ithemba ngathi, “Bonke abantu balamanga.”

I said in my haste, All men are liars.

12 Ngingambonga ngani uThixo ngabo bonke ubuhle bakhe kimi?

What shall I render unto Jehovah, [for] all his benefits toward me?

13 Ngizayiphakamisa inkezo yensindiso ngimemeze ibizo likaThixo.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of Jehovah.

14 Ngizazigcwalisa izifungo zami kuThixo phambi kwabo bonke abantu bakhe.

I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people.

15 Kuligugu emehlweni kaThixo ukufa kwabathembekileyo bakhe.

Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of his saints.

16 Oh Thixo, ngempela ngiyinceku Yakho, indodana yencekukazi yakho; usungikhulule emaketaneni ami.

Yea, Jehovah! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

17 Ngizakwenzela umhlatshelo womnikelo wokubonga ngilibize ibizo likaThixo

I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Jehovah.

18 Ngizazigcwalisa izifungo zami kuThixo phambi kwabo bonke abantu bakhe,

I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people,

19 emagumeni endlu kaThixo phakathi kwakho, wena Jerusalema. Dumisani uThixo.

In the courts of Jehovah's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
