1 ElikaDavida. Dumisa uThixo, Oh mphefumulo wami; konke okuphakathi kwami, kakudumise ibizo lakhe elingcwele.
By David. Bless, O my soul, Jehovah, And all my inward parts — His Holy Name.
2 Dumisa uThixo, Oh mphefumulo wami, ungaze wakhohlwa konke okuhle okuthola kuye
Bless, O my soul, Jehovah, And forget not all His benefits,
3 othethelelayo zonke izono zakho akusilise kuzozonke izifo zakho,
Who is forgiving all thine iniquities, Who is healing all thy diseases,
4 ohlenga impilo yakho egodini akwethese uthando lesihawu,
Who is redeeming from destruction thy life, Who is crowning thee — kindness and mercies,
5 osuthisa izifiso zakho ngezinto ezinhle ukuze ubutsha bakho buvuselelwe njengengqungqulu.
Who is satisfying with good thy desire, Renew itself as an eagle doth thy youth.
6 UThixo ubenzela ukulunga lokwahlulela okuhle labo abancindezelweyo.
Jehovah is doing righteousness and judgments For all the oppressed.
7 Izindlela zakhe wazazisa uMosi, izenzo zakhe wazazisa abantu bako-Israyeli;
He maketh known His ways to Moses, To the sons of Israel His acts.
8 uThixo ulesihawu njalo ulomusa, uyaphuza ukuthukuthela, kodwa uyanda ngothando.
Merciful and gracious [is] Jehovah, Slow to anger, and abundant in mercy.
9 Kahlali ebeka imilandu futhi kagcini ulaka lwakhe kokuphela;
Not for ever doth He strive, Nor to the age doth He watch.
10 kasiphathi ngokufanele izono zethu kumbe asijezise ngokulingene iziphambeko zethu.
Not according to our sins hath He done to us, Nor according to our iniquities Hath He conferred benefits upon us.
11 Ngoba njengokuphakama komkhathi ngaphezu komhlaba, lukhulu kangako uthando lwakhe kulabo abamesabayo;
For, as the height of the heavens [is] above the earth, His kindness hath been mighty over those fearing Him.
12 njengobukhatshana bempumalanga kuyo intshonalanga kanjalo ususile iziphambeko zethu kithi.
As the distance of east from west He hath put far from us our transgressions.
13 Ngendlela ubaba elozwelo ebantwaneni bakhe, kanjalo uThixo ulozwelo kulabo abamesabayo;
As a father hath mercy on sons, Jehovah hath mercy on those fearing Him.
14 ngoba uyakwazi ukuthi sibunjwe njani, uyakhumbula ukuthi siluthuli.
For He hath known our frame, Remembering that we [are] dust.
15 Umuntu yena insuku zakhe zinjengotshani, ukhula amemetheke njengembali yeganga;
Mortal man! as grass [are] his days, As a flower of the field so he flourisheth;
16 umoya uyayiphephetha ihle inyamalale, indawo yakhe ingabe isayikhumbula lanini.
For a wind hath passed over it, and it is not, And its place doth not discern it any more.
17 Kodwa kusukela phakade kusiya phakade uthando lukaThixo lukulabo abamesabayo, lokulunga Kwakhe ebantwaneni babantwana
And the kindness of Jehovah [Is] from age even unto age on those fearing Him, And His righteousness to sons' sons,
18 kulabo abagcina isivumelwano Sakhe njalo bakhumbule ukulalela izimiso zakhe.
To those keeping His covenant, And to those remembering His precepts to do them.
19 UThixo usemisile isihlalo sakhe sobukhosi ezulwini, njalo ubukhosi bakhe buphezu kwakho konke.
Jehovah in the heavens Hath established His throne, And His kingdom over all hath ruled.
20 Dumisani uThixo, lina zingilosi, lina zinceku zakhe elenza intando yakhe, elilalela ilizwi lakhe.
Bless Jehovah, ye His messengers, Mighty in power — doing His word, To hearken to the voice of His Word.
21 Dumisani uThixo, lonke mabutho akhe asezulwini, lina zinceku zakhe elenza intando yakhe.
Bless Jehovah, all ye His hosts, His ministers — doing His pleasure.
22 Dumisani uThixo, imisebenzi yakhe yonke ezindaweni zonke embusweni wakhe. Dumisa uThixo, Oh mphefumulo wami.
Bless Jehovah, all ye His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless, O my soul, Jehovah!
