1 Laba ngabaphristi labaLevi ababuya loZerubhabheli indodana kaSheyalithiyeli kanye loJeshuwa: USeraya, uJeremiya, u-Ezra,
And these are the priests and the Levites that went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
2 u-Amariya, uMaluki, uHathushi,
Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,
3 uShekhaniya, uRehumi, uMeremothi,
Shechaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,
4 u-Ido, uGinethoni, u-Abhija,
Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,
5 uMijamini, uMowadiya, uBhiliga,
Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,
6 uShemaya, uJoyaribi, uJedaya,
Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah,
7 uSalu, u-Amoki, uHilikhiya loJedaya. Laba babengabakhokheli babaphristi labakhulu babo ngezinsuku zikaJeshuwa.
Sallu, Amok, Hilkijah, Jedaiah. These were the chief of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.
8 AbaLevi babe nguJeshuwa, loBhinuwi, loKhadimiyeli, loSherebhiya, loJuda njalo loMathaniya, okwathi yena, labakhula bakhe yibo ababekhokhela izingoma zenkonzo yokubonga.
And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah, [who was] over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren;
9 UBhakhibhukhiya lo-Uni, labakhula babo, babesima ngale bakhangelane labo ezinkonzweni.
and Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were over against them as watches.
10 UJeshuwa wayenguyise kaJoyakhimu, uyise ka-Eliyashibi, u-Eliyashibi uyise kaJoyada,
And Jeshua begot Joiakim, and Joiakim begot Eliashib, and Eliashib begot Joiada,
11 uJoyada uyise kaJonathani, uJonathani uyise kaJaduwa.
and Joiada begot Jonathan, and Jonathan begot Jaddua.
12 Ngezinsuku zikaJoyakhimu, laba babezinhloko zezimuli zabaphristi: abendlu kaSeraya, nguMeraya; abendlu kaJeremiya nguHananiya;
And in the days of Joiakim were priests, chief fathers: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;
13 abendlu ka-Ezra, nguMeshulami; abendlu ka-Amariya, nguJehohanani;
of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;
14 abendlu kaMaluki, nguJonathani; abendlu kaShebhaniya, nguJosefa;
of Melicu, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;
15 abendlu kaHarimi, ngu-Adina; abendlu kaMeremothi, nguHelikhayi;
of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;
16 abendlu ka-Ido, nguZakhariya; abendlu kaGinethoni, nguMeshulami;
of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;
17 abendlu ka-Abhija nguZikhiri; abendlu kaMiniyamini lekaMowadiya, nguPhilithayi;
of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin [and] Moadiah, Piltai;
18 abendlu kaBhiliga nguShamuwa; abendlu kaShemaya nguJonathani;
of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;
19 abendlu kaJoyaribi, nguMathenayi; abendlu kaJedaya, ngu-Uzi;
and of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;
20 abendlu kaSalu, nguKhalayi; abendlu ka-Amoki, ngu-Ebheri;
of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;
21 abendlu kaHilikhiya, nguHashabhiya; abendlu kaJedaya nguNethaneli.
of Hilkijah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethaneel.
22 Abazinhloko zezindlu zabaLevi ngezinsuku zika-Eliyashibi, loJoyada, uJohanani loJaduwa, kanye lezabaphristi, babhalwa phansi kubusa uDariyu wasePhezhiya.
of the Levites, the chief fathers were recorded in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, and the priests, until the reign of Darius the Persian.
23 Abakhokheli bezimuli ezizukulwaneni zikaLevi kuze kube yisikhathi sikaJohanani indodana ka-Eliyashibi babhalwa phansi encwadini yemilando.
The children of Levi, the chief fathers, were recorded in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.
24 Abakhokheli babaLevi babengoHashabhiya, loSherebhiya, loJeshuwa indodana kaKhadimiyeli, labakhula babo ababesima baqondane labo nxa bedumisa njalo besenza inkonzo yokubonga, yilabo bevumela abanye, njengokwamiswa nguDavida umuntu kaNkulunkulu.
And the chief Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise [and] to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.
25 UMathaniya, loBhakhibhukhiya, u-Obhadaya, uMeshulami, uThalimoni lo-Akhubi babe ngabalindimasango ababelinda iziphala emasangweni.
Mattaniah and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were doorkeepers keeping the ward at the storehouses of the gates.
26 Bawenza umsebenzi lo ngezinsuku zikaJoyakhimu indodana kaJeshuwa, indodana kaJozadaki, langezinsuku zikaNehemiya umbusi lo-Ezra umphristi lombhali.
These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.
27 Ekunikelweni komduli waseJerusalema, abaLevi badingwa lapho ababehlala khona balethwa eJerusalema ukuzathakazelela umkhosi wokunikelwa ngezingoma langokubonga langokutshaya izigubhu lamachacho lemiqangala.
And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to hold the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, [with] cymbals, lutes and harps.
28 Abahlabeleli labo balethwa ndawonye besuka emangweni oseduze leJerusalema, basuka emizini yamaNethofa,
And the children of the singers were assembled, both from the plain [of Jordan] round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites,
29 eBhethi Giligali, lasemangweni waseGebha le-Azimavethi, ngoba abahlabeleli basebezakhele imizi eduze leJerusalema.
also from Beth-Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves hamlets round about Jerusalem.
30 Kwathi lapho abaphristi labaLevi sebezihlambulule ngokomkhuba, bahlambulula abantu, amasango lomduli.
And the priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, and the gates and the wall.
31 Ngathi abakhokheli bakoJuda bakhwele phezu komduli. Njalo ngamisa amaqembu amakhulu amabili awabahlabeleli ukuthi babonge. Elinye lalimele likhwele phezulu komduli kwesokunene, kusiya ngesangweni loBulongwe.
And I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great choirs and processions, on the right hand upon the wall towards the dung-gate.
32 UHoshayiya lengxenye yabakhokheli bakoJuda babalandela,
And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,
33 kunye lo-Azariya, lo-Ezra, loMeshulami,
and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,
34 loJuda, loBhenjamini, loShemaya, loJeremiya,
Judah and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,
35 kanye labanye abaphristi ababelamacilongo, loZakhariya indodana kaJonathani, indodana kaShemaya, indodana kaMathaniya indodana kaMikhaya, indodana kaZakhuri, indodana ka-Asafi,
and [certain] of the priests' sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;
36 labakhula bakhe oShemaya, lo-Azareli, loMilalayi, loGilalayi, loMayi, loNethaneli, loJuda loHanani bephethe amachacho njengokwakumiswe nguDavida umuntu kaNkulunkulu. U-Ezra umbhali nguye owayekhokhele udwendwe.
and his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe before them.
37 SebeseSangweni loMthombo baqhubeka bakhwela izinyathelo eziya eMzini kaDavida emqansweni oya emdulini bedlula ngaphezulu kwendlu kaDavida baya eSangweni laManzi ngempumalanga.
And at the fountain-gate, and over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even to the water-gate eastward.
38 Iqembu lesibili labahlabeleli lona lafulathela elakuqala laya le. Ngabalandela phezu komduli ngilengxenye yabantu, sedlula uMphotshongo waMaziko siqonda uMduli Obanzi,
And the second choir went in the opposite direction upon the wall, and I after them, and the half of the people, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even to the broad wall;
39 sedlula isango lika-Efrayimi, leSango likaJeshana, iSango leNhlanzi, uMphotshongo kaHananeli loMphotshongo weKhulu saze sayafika eSangweni leZimvu. ESangweni laBalindi bafika bema.
and from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the gate of the old [wall], and above the fish-gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even to the sheep-gate; and they stood still in the prison-gate.
40 Amaqembu lawo abahlabeleli amabili ayesipha ukubonga asesima ezindaweni zawo endlini kaNkulunkulu; lami ngenze njalo, kanye lengxenye yezinduna,
And both choirs stood in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;
41 labaphristi o-Eliyakhimu, loMaseya, loMiniyamini, loMikhaya, lo-Eliyonayi, loZakhariya loHananiya belamacilongo abo
and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah, with trumpets;
42 njalo loMaseya, loShemaya, lo-Eliyezari, lo-Uzi, loJehohanani, loMalikhija, lo-Elamu lo-Ezeri. Amaqembu abahlabeleli ahlabela ekhokhelwa nguJezirahiya.
and Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud; and Jizrahiah was their overseer.
43 Ngalelolanga banikela imihlatshelo emangalisayo, bethokoza ngoba uThixo wayebaphe ukuthokoza okukhulu. Abesifazane kanye labantwana labo bathokoza. Umsindo wokuthokoza eJerusalema wawuzwakala kude.
And that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and also the women and the children rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.
44 Ngalesosikhathi kwakhethwa amadoda ukugcina iziphala zalokho okwakulethwa, izithelo zokuqala kanye lokwetshumi. Okusuka emasimini aseduzane lamadolobho babemele bakulethe eziphaleni lezo zilinganiso ezazivumelwa nguMthetho okwabaphristi labaLevi, ngoba uJuda wayejabuliswe ngumsebenzi owawuqhutshwa ngamaphristi lamaLevi.
And at that time men were appointed over the chambers of the treasures for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them, out of the fields of the cities, the portions assigned by the law for the priests and the Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests, and over the Levites that waited.
45 Bayiphatha inkonzo kaNkulunkulu wabo lenkonzo yokuhlanjululwa, njalo benzenjalo labahlabeleli kanye labalindimasango, njengemilayo kaDavida lendodana yakhe uSolomoni.
And, with the singers and the doorkeepers, they kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David [and] of Solomon his son.
46 Ngoba kudala, ensukwini zikaDavida lo-Asafi, kwakulabaqondisi babahlabeleli labezingoma zokudumisa lokubonga uNkulunkulu.
For of old, in the days of David and Asaph, there were the chiefs of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgivings to God.
47 Yikho ngezinsuku zikaZerubhabheli loNehemiya, ama-Israyeli onke apha isabelo sansukuzonke esabahlabeleli labalindimasango. Baphinda njalo babeka eceleni esinye isabelo esabanye abaLevi, kwathi abaLevi labo bacezula okunye kwabo kwaba ngokwabosendo luka-Aroni.
And all Israel, in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the doorkeepers, every day what was needed, and they consecrated things for the Levites; and the Levites consecrated for the children of Aaron.
