1 Ngalolosuku uJesu waphuma endlini wayahlala eceleni kwechibi.
IN that day Jeshu went forth from the house and sat by the sea-side;
2 Amaxuku abantu aminyezelana kuye waze wangena esikepeni wahlala kuso, abantu bonke bona babemi okhunjini.
and great multitudes gathered near him, so that he went up and sat in a vessel; and all the multitude were standing on the shore of the sea.
3 Wasebatshela izinto ezinengi esebenzisa imizekeliso, wathi, “Umlimi waphuma wayahlanyela inhlanyelo yakhe.
And he discoursed largely to them in parables, and said: Behold, there went forth a sower to sow;
4 Kwathi eyihaza inhlanyelo, eyinye yawela endleleni, izinyoni zafika zayidobha yonke.
and as he sowed, some fell by the road-side, and the fowl came and devoured it.
5 Eyinye yawela okhetheni lapho okwakungela mhlabathi owaneleyo. Yaphanga yamila ngoba umhlabathi wawungatshoni.
Another (portion) fell upon the rock, where there was not much soil; and immediately it sprung up, because there was no depth of earth.
6 Kodwa kwathi ilanga seliphumile yahanguleka yabuna ngoba yayingelampande.
But when the sun was risen, it burned, and, because it had no root, it withered away.
7 Eyinye yawela phakathi kwameva, asuka akhula ayiminya inhlanyelo.
And another fell among the thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked it.
8 Eyinye inhlanyelo yawela emhlabathini omuhle lapho eyathela khona izithelo eziphindwe okungabalikhulu, kumbe okungamatshumi ayisithupha loba okungamatshumi amathathu ukudlula leyo eyayihlanyelwe.
And another fell into good earth, and gave fruits, this a hundred, another sixty, and another thirty.
He who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 Abafundi beza kuye bambuza bathi, “Kungani ukhuluma ebantwini ngemizekeliso na?”
And his disciples approached, saying to him, Why dost thou speak to them in parables?
11 Waphendula wathi, “Ulwazi lwemfihlakalo yombuso wezulu luphiwe lina hatshi bona.
He replied and said to them, Because unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of heaven, but unto them it is not given.
12 Lowo olakho, uzaphiwa kwengezelelwe abesesiba lokunengi kakhulu. Lowo ongelakho, lalokho alakho uzakwemukwa.
For unto him who hath, it shall be given, and it shall be increased to him: but to him who hath not, that also which he hath shall be taken from him.
13 Lokhu yikho okungenza ngikhulume kubo ngemizekeliso: Ngoba loba bekhangele kababoni; loba belalele kabezwa njalo kabaqedisisi.
On this account I speak to them in parables. Hence they see, and (yet) see not; and they hear, and (yet) hear not, neither understand;
14 Kubo isiphrofethi sika-Isaya siyagcwaliseka, esokuthi: ‘Lizahlala lisizwa kodwa lingaqedisisi; lizahlala libona kodwa lingabonisisi.
and accomplished in them is the prophecy of Eshaia, who said, that hearing they should hear, but not understand, and seeing they should see, but not know.
15 Ngoba inhliziyo zalababantu sezaba lukhuni; kabasezwa ngezindlebe zabo njalo sebawavala amehlo abo. Funa babone ngamehlo abo, bezwe ngezindlebe zabo, baqedisise ngezinhliziyo zabo, baphenduke bese ngibasilisa.’
For the heart of this people is become gross, and with their ears they have heard heavily, and their eyes they have shut, that they may not see with their eyes, nor hear with their ears, nor understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I heal them.
16 Kodwa abusisiwe amehlo enu ngoba ayabona lezindlebe zenu ziyezwa.
But blessed are your eyes which see, and your ears which hear:
17 Ngoba ngilitshela iqiniso ukuthi abaphrofethi abanengi lamadoda alungileyo balangazela ukukubona lokhu elikubonayo kodwa kabakubonanga, lokuzwa lokhu elikuzwayo kodwa kabakuzwanga.
for, Amen I say unto you, that many prophets and just ones have desired to behold what you see, and have not beheld, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard.
18 Lalelani-ke lizwe ukuthi utshoni umzekeliso womhlanyeli:
You, then, attend to the comparison of the seed:
19 Nxa umuntu esizwa ilizwi ngombuso kodwa engabambisisi, omubi uyeza ahwithe lokho obekuhlanyelwe enhliziyweni yakhe. Yiyo le inhlanyelo eyahlanyelwa endleleni.
(When) any one who heareth the doctrine of the kingdom doth not understand it, there cometh the evil (one), and snatcheth away the doctrine that was sown in his heart: this is what by the road-side was sown.
20 Inhlanyelo eyawela okhetheni ngumuntu olizwayo ilizwi aphange alamukele ngentokozo.
But that which was sown upon the rock is he who heareth the word, and at once with joy apprehendeth it.
21 Kodwa ngenxa yokuthi kalampande, nxa okwesikhatshana kuphela. Nxa kufika uhlupho lokuhlukunyezwa ngenxa yelizwi uphanga akhubeke.
Yet hath he no root in him, but is (only) for a time; and when affliction or persecution occurs on account of the doctrine, he is quickly offended.
22 Inhlanyelo eyawela phakathi kwameva ngumuntu olizwayo ilizwi kodwa lisuke landelwe yizinhlupheko zale impilo lenkohliso yenotho, lingabe lisaba lezithelo. (aiōn )
That sown the place of thorns, is he who heareth the word, but the anxious thought of this world and the illusions of riches stifle the word in him, and he is without fruits. (aiōn )
23 Kodwa leyonhlanyelo eyawela emhlabathini ovundileyo ngumuntu olizwayo ilizwi alizwisise. Lo nguye othela izithelo ezinengi ngekhulu, ngamatshumi ayisithupha loba ngamatshumi amathathu okudlula lokho okwahlanyelwayo.”
But that which upon good ground was sown is he who heareth my doctrine, and understandeth (it), and giveth fruits, and produceth, whether a hundred, or sixty, or thirty fold.
24 UJesu wabatshela omunye umzekeliso wathi, “Umbuso wezulu unjengomuntu owahlanyela inhlanyelo enhle ensimini yakhe.
ANOTHER comparison he allegorized unto them, and said: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 Kodwa kwathi ngesikhathi wonke umuntu elele, isitha sakhe seza sahlanyela ukhula phakathi kwengqoloyi, sahamba.
And while men slept, came his adversary, and sowed zizania among the wheat, and went.
26 Kwathi ingqoloyi isikhahlele yabumba izikhwebu, ukhula lalo lwavela.
And when the plant sprang up and produced fruit, then appeared the zizania.
27 Izinceku zomninisivini zeza kuye zathi, ‘Nkosi, kanti kawuhlanyelanga yini inhlanyelo enhle ensimini yakho na? Pho ukhula luvele ngaphi?’
And the labourers of the house-lord drew near and said to him, Our lord, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? From whence then is the zizania in it?
28 Waphendula wathi, ‘Kwenziwe yisitha lokhu.’ Zambuza izinceku zathi, ‘Uyafuna yini ukuthi siyelusiphuna na?’
But he said to them, A foeman hath done this. The labourers say to him, Art thou willing that we go and gather them?
29 Waphendula wathi, ‘Hatshi, ngoba lizakuthi lisiphuna ukhula liqabuke selisiphuna amabele kanye lalo.
But he said to them, (No, ) lest, when ye gather the zizania, you root out with them the wheat also.
30 Kuyekeleni kukhule ndawonye kuze kube yisikhathi sokuvuna. Lapho-ke, ngizakuthi kubavuni, Qalani ngokuqoqa ukhula lilubophe izinyanda ukuba lutshiswe, beseliqoqa amabele liwalethe esiphaleni sami.’”
Leave (them), that both may grow together till the harvest; and in the season of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather first the zizania, and bind them (together in) bundles, that they may burn; but the wheat collect into my barns.
31 Wabatshela omunye umzekeliso wathi, “Umbuso wezulu ufana lentanga yemastadi eyathathwa ngenye indoda yayihlanyela ensimini yayo.
Another comparison allegorized he to them, and said: The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard, which a man took and sowed in his field.
32 Lanxa incinyane kulentanga yenhlanyelo zonke, kodwa ithi ingakhula ibe yisihlahla esikhulu kulazo zonke, izinyoni zezulu zibuye, zithole ukuphumula ezingatsheni zaso.”
This is less than all other seeds; but when it has grown, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the fowl of the heavens come (and) build in its branches.
33 Waphinda wabatshela omunye umzekeliso wathi, “Umbuso wezulu ufana lemvubelo eyathathwa ngowesifazane wayixubanisa lempuphu enengi, yabila yagcwala inhlama yonke.”
Another parable he spake to them: The kingdom of heaven resembles that leaven which a woman took and hid in three satas of meal, until the whole was leavened.
34 UJesu wakhuluma zonke lezizinto exukwini labantu ngemizekeliso; kazange akhulume lutho kubo engasebenzisanga umzekeliso.
All these spake Jeshu in parables to the multitude; and without a parable he did not speak with them.
35 Ngakho kwagcwaliseka okwakhulunywa ngomphrofethi ukuthi: “Ngizavula umlomo wami ngemizekeliso, ngizakutsho izinto ezifihliweyo selokhu kwadatshulwa umhlaba.”
That there should be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet, who said, I will open my mouth in comparisons, and pour forth things hidden from before the foundation of the world.
36 Wasesuka exukwini waya endlini. Abafundi bakhe beza kuye bathi, “Sichazele umzekeliso wokhula ensimini.”
Then Jeshu dismissed the multitudes, and came into the house; and his disciples drew near him, and said to him, Expound to us the comparison of the zizania of the field.
37 Waphendula wathi, “Lowo owahlanyela inhlanyelo enhle yiNdodana yoMuntu.
He answered and said to them, He who sowed the good seed is the Son of man.
38 Insimu ngumhlaba njalo inhlanyelo enhle imele abantu bombuso. Ukhula lungabantu bomubi
The field is the world. Now, the good seed are the sons of the kingdom, but the zizania are the sons of the evil one.
39 njalo isitha esiluhlanyelayo nguSathane. Isivuno siyikuphela kwesikhathi njalo abavuni yizingilosi. (aiōn )
The adversary who sowed them is Satana; the harvest is the consummation of the world; the reapers are the angels. (aiōn )
40 Njengalokhu ukhula lusitshunwa lutshiswe emlilweni, kuzakuba njalo ekupheleni kwesikhathi. (aiōn )
As, therefore, the zizania are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the completion of this world. (aiōn )
41 Indodana yoMuntu izathuma izingilosi zayo, zikhuphe konke okuyizikhubekiso embusweni wayo, labo bonke abenza ububi.
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall collect from his kingdom all those who cause offence, and all (who) work iniquity,
42 Zizabaphosela esihogweni somlilo ovuthayo okuzakuba khona ukukhala lokugedla kwamazinyo. ()
and shall throw them into a furnace of fire; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
43 Lapho-ke, abalungileyo bazakhazimula njengelanga embusweni kaYise wabo. Lowo olendlebe, kezwe.”
Then the just shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
44 “Umbuso wezulu unjengenotho efihliweyo esivandeni. Kwathi indoda isiyitholile yayifihla njalo, kwathi ngoba iphakathi kokuthokoza, yahamba yayathengisa konke eyayilakho yayathenga lesosivande.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure which was hidden in a field, (and) which a man found and concealed, and from joy went and sold all that he had, and bought that field.
45 Njalo umbuso wezulu ufana lomthengi edinga amaphareli amahle.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man a merchant, who sought goodly pearls;
46 Kwathi esefumene elinye elalilentengo ephezulu wahamba wayathengisa konke ayelakho walithenga.”
but who, when he had found one pearl of exceeding price, went, sold all that he had, and bought it.
47 “Futhi umbuso wezulu ufana lomambule owehliselwa phansi echibini wagola zonke inhlobo zezinhlanzi.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, which was thrown into the sea, and from every kind collected.
48 Wathi usugcwele, abagoli bezinhlanzi bawudonsela okhunjini. Basebehlala phansi, baqoqela ezitsheni zonke inhlanzi ezinhle kodwa ezimbi bazilahla.
And when it was full, they drew to the shore, and sat down, and selected; and the good they threw into vessels, and the bad they cast without.
49 Lokhu yikho okuzakwenzakala ekupheleni kwesikhathi. Izingilosi zizakuza zehlukanise ababi kwabalungileyo, (aiōn )
Thus shall it be at the consummation of the world. The angels shall go forth, and separate the evil from among the just, (aiōn )
50 zibaphosele esihogweni somlilo ovuthayo, lapho okuzakuba khona lokukhala kanye lokugedla kwamazinyo.” ()
and cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth!
51 UJesu wababuza wathi, “Selizizwisisile zonke lezizinto na?” Bathi, “Yebo.”
Jeshu said to them, Have you understood all these? They say to him, Yes, our Lord.
52 Wathi kubo, “Ngakho wonke umfundisi womthetho osephenduke waba ngumfundi wombuso wezulu unjengomnini wendlu okhupha esiphaleni sakhe amagugu amatsha lamadala.”
He saith to them, On this account every scribe who is learned in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man a house-lord, who bringeth forth from his treasuries the new and the old.
53 UJesu eseqedile imizekeliso le wasuka lapho wahamba.
AND when Jeshu had finished these parables, he passed from thence,
54 Wafika edolobheni lakibo waqalisa ukufundisa abantu esinagogweni labo, bamangala. Babuza bathi, “Indoda le yayithatha ngaphi inhlakanipho le lamandla la ayisimangaliso kangaka?
and came to his city, and taught them in their synagogues, so that they were astounded and said, Whence hath he (Whence to him) this wisdom and these powers?
55 Kanti lo kayisiyo indodana yombazi na? Ibizo likanina kasuMariya na, labafowabo kakusiJakhobe, uJosefa, uSimoni loJudasi na?
Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mariam, and his brothers, Jakub, and Josi, and Shemun, and Jehuda?
56 Odadewabo kabakho lapha kanye lathi na? Pho indoda le yazizuza ngaphi izinto zonke lezi?”
and his sisters, all, are they not with us? Whence to this one all these?
57 Bakhubeka ngaye. Kodwa uJesu wathi kubo, “Umphrofethi kaladumo edolobheni lakibo lasendlini yakwabo.”
And they were offended with him. But Jeshu said to them, No prophet is contemned except in his own city, and in his own house.
58 Kasenzanga izimangaliso ezinengi khona ngenxa yokusilela kwabo ekukholweni.
And he did not many miracles there on account of their unbelief.
