< UMakho 9 >
1 Wasesithi kubo, “Ngilitshela iqiniso ukuthi abanye abemiyo lapha kabayikukuzwa ukufa bengakawuboni umbuso kaNkulunkulu ufika ngamandla.”
He said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see God’s Kingdom come with power.”
2 Ngemva kwensuku eziyisithupha uJesu wathatha uPhethro, loJakhobe loJohane wakhwela labo entabeni ephakemeyo lapho ababa bodwa khona. Bekhona lapho waguquka isimo emehlweni abo.
After six days Yeshua [Salvation] took with him Peter [Rock], James [Surplanter], and John [Yah is gracious], and brought them up onto a high mountain privately by themselves, and he was changed into another form in front of them.
3 Izigqoko zakhe zaba mhlophe njengokukhanya, zaba mhlophe okungazake kwenziwe muntu emhlabeni.
His clothing became glistening, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
4 Khonapho kwabonakala u-Elija loMosi bekhuluma loJesu.
Elijah [My God Yah] and Moses [Drawn out] appeared to them, and they were talking with Yeshua [Salvation].
5 UPhethro wathi kuJesu, “Rabi, kumnandi kithi ukuba lapha. Kasakhe izihonqo ezintathu esakho, esinye esikaMosi lesinye esika-Elija.”
Peter [Rock] answered Yeshua [Salvation], “Rabbi ·Teacher·, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, one for Moses [Drawn out], and one for Elijah [My God Yah].”
6 (Wayengazi ukuthi athini, babesesaba kakhulu.)
For he didn’t know what to say, for they were very afraid.
7 Kwabuya iyezi labagubuzela, ilizwi labuya livela eyezini lisithi, “Lo yiNdodana yami, engiyithandayo. Ilaleleni!”
A cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my agapetos ·beloved, esteemed· Son. Listen to him.”
8 Khonokho nje bathi bayakhangela kababe besabona muntu eduze kwabo ngaphandle kukaJesu.
Suddenly looking around, they saw no one with them any more, except Yeshua [Salvation] only.
9 Bathi sebesehla entabeni uJesu wabanika imilayo yokuthi bangatsheli muntu ngabakubonileyo iNdodana yoMuntu ize iqale ivuke kwabafileyo.
As they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
10 Indaba le bayigcina ezifubeni zabo, bebuzana ukuthi, “ukuvuka kwabafileyo” kwakusitshoni.
They kept this saying to themselves, questioning what the “rising from the dead” meant.
11 Bambuza bathi, “Kungani abafundisi bomthetho besithi u-Elija kumele afike kuqala?”
They asked him, saying, “Why do the Torah-Teachers say that Elijah [My God Yah] must come first?”
12 UJesu waphendula wathi, “Ngeqiniso u-Elija uza kuqala abuyisele izinto zonke esimeni sazo. Kungani pho kulotshiwe ukuthi iNdodana yoMuntu imele ihlupheke kakhulu yaliwe?
He said to them, “Elijah [My God Yah] indeed comes first, and restores all things. How is it written about the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised?
13 Kodwa ngiyalitshela, u-Elija usefikile, sebemenze konke ababekufisa kuye njengoba kulotshiwe ngaye.”
But I tell you that Elijah [My God Yah] has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him.”
14 Bathi befika kwabanye abafundi babona bebuthanelwe ngabantu abanengi kulabafundisi bomthetho bephikisana labo.
Coming to the disciples, he saw a great multitude around them, and Torah-Teachers questioning them.
15 Abantu bonke bonela ukubona uJesu bamangala kakhulu bamgijimela besiyambingelela.
Immediately all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him greeted him.
16 Wabuza wathi, “Kuyini eliphikisana labo ngakho na?”
He asked the Torah-Teachers, “What are you asking them?”
17 Kwaphendula indoda ethile exukwini yathi, “Mfundisi, ngikulethele indodana yami ilomoya oyenza ibe yisimungulu.
One of the multitude answered, “Rabbi ·Teacher·, I brought to you my son, who has a mute spirit;
18 Uthi ungayibamba uyilahlele phansi. Isuka ibhubhudle amagwebu, igedle amazinyo, yome qha umzimba. Ngibacelile abafundi bakho ukuthi bawukhuphe umoya, kodwa behluleka.”
and wherever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth, and wastes away. I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.”
19 UJesu waphendula wathi, “Oh, lina sizukulwane esingakholwayo, ngizahlala lani kuze kube nini na? Ngilibekezelele kuze kube nini? Mletheni kimi umfana.”
He answered him, “Unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.”
20 Basebemletha kuye. Umoya wonela ukumbona uJesu wamlahla phansi umfana wazigiqagiqa ekhihliza amagwebu ngomlomo.
They brought him to him, and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground, wallowing and foaming at the mouth.
21 UJesu wabuza uyise womfana wathi, “Sekulesikhathi esingakanani enje umfana?” Wathi, “Kusukela ebuntwaneni.
He asked 'Aviv [his father], “How long has it been since this has come to him?” He said, “From childhood.
22 Kuhlezi kumphosela emlilweni loba emanzini kufuna ukumbulala. Kodwa nxa kukhona ongakwenza ake usihawukele usisize.”
Often it has cast him both into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.”
23 UJesu wathi, “Uthi ‘engingakwenza?’ Yonke into iyeneliseka kulowo okholwayo.”
Yeshua [Salvation] said to him, “If you can trust, all things are possible to him who trusts.”
24 Masinyane uyise womfana wamemeza wathi, “Ngiyakholwa; ake ungisize ngehlule ukungakholwa kwami!”
Immediately the Abba father of the child cried out with tears, “I trust. Help my unbelief!”
25 UJesu esebona ukuthi ixuku laligijimela kuye wawukhuza umoya omubi wathi, “Wena moya oyisacuthe lesimungulu, ngiyakulaya mina, ngithi phuma kuye ungaphindi ungene kuye futhi.”
When Yeshua [Salvation] saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again!”
26 Umoya waklabalala, wamgiqa phansi umfana, waphuma emva kokumhlukuluza okukhulu. Umfana wathi daca, waba njengesidumbu, abanengi bathi, “Usefile.”
Having cried out, and convulsed greatly, it came out of him. The boy became like one dead; so much that most of them said, “He is dead.”
27 Kodwa uJesu wambamba ngesandla wamdonsa wamisa ngezinyawo wema.
But Yeshua [Salvation] took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.
28 UJesu esesukile wayangena endlini abafundi bakhe bambuza ngasese bathi, “Kungani sehlulekile ukuwuxotsha na?”
When he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”
29 Waphendula wathi, “Lolu uhlobo luphuma ngomkhuleko kuphela.”
He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting.”
30 Basuka kuleyondawo badabula eGalile. UJesu kazange afune ukuthi kube khona owaziyo ukuthi babengaphi,
They went out from there, and passed through Galilee [District, Circuit]. He didn’t want anyone to know it.
31 ngoba wayefundisa abafundi bakhe. Wathi kubo, “INdodana yoMuntu izanikelwa ezandleni zabantu. Bazayibulala, kuthi ngemva kwensuku ezintathu izavuka.”
For he was teaching his disciples, and said to them, “The Son of Man is being handed over to the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again.”
32 Kodwa kabezwisisanga ukuthi wayesitshoni njalo besaba ukumbuza ngakho.
But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.
33 Bafika eKhaphenawume. Wathi esendlini wababuza wathi, “Beliphikisana ngani endleleni?”
He came to Capernaum [Village-Comfort, Village-Compassion], and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing among yourselves on the way?”
34 Kodwa bathula zwi ngoba endleleni babephikisana ngokuthi ngubani omkhulu kulabanye bonke.
But they were silent, for they had disputed one with another on the way about who was the greatest.
35 Wahlala phansi uJesu wabiza abalitshumi lambili wathi kubo, “Nxa ekhona ofuna ukuba ngowokuqala, kabe ngosekucineni, abe yisisebenzi sabo bonke.”
He sat down, and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any man wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.”
36 Wathatha umntwana omncinyane wamisa phakathi kwabo. Wamthatha wamanga wathi kubo,
He took a little child, and set him in the middle of them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them,
37 “Yilowo owamukela oyedwa walababantwana abancinyane ebizweni lami wamukela mina; njalo lowo ongamukelayo kemukeli mina, kodwa wamukela lowo owangithumayo.”
“Whoever receives one such little child in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, does not receive me, but him who sent me.”
38 UJohane wathi, “Mfundisi, sibone indoda ikhupha amadimoni ngebizo lakho, sayenqabela ngoba ingayisuye omunye wethu.”
John [Yah is gracious] said to him, “Rabbi ·Teacher·, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.”
39 UJesu wathi, “Lingamaleli. Kakho ongenza umangaliso ngebizo lami aphinde masinyane ajike akhulume okubi ngami,
But Yeshua [Salvation] said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
40 ngoba lowo ongamelani lathi ukanye lathi.
For whoever is not against us is on our side.
41 Ngilitshela iqiniso, lowo olipha inkezo yamanzi ngebizo lami ngoba lingabakaKhristu ngempela akayikulahlekelwa ngumvuzo wakhe.”
For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Messiah [Anointed one]’s, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.
42 “Nxa umuntu ekhubekisa oyedwa walaba abancinyane abakholwa kimi ukuba enze isono, bekungaba ngcono kuye ukuthi aphoselwe olwandle ebotshelwe ilitshe elikhulu entanyeni yakhe.
Whoever will cause one of these little ones who trust in me to be scandalized ·to entrap, to cause weak knees that waiver, stumbling block that causes falling, distrusting one that should be trusted and obeyed, disapproving of authority, to judge unfavorably causing displeasure, indignant·, it would be better for him if he were thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.
43 Nxa isandla sakho sikwenza wone, siqume. Kungcono kuwe ukuthi ungene ekuphileni ungungini kulokuya esihogweni ulezandla ezimbili, lapho umlilo wakhona ongacitshiyo, [ (Geenna )
If your hand causes you to be scandalized ·to entrap, to cause weak knees that waiver, stumbling block that causes falling, distrusting one that should be trusted and obeyed, disapproving of authority, to judge unfavorably causing displeasure, indignant·, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna (Place of fiery torment for the dead), into the unquenchable fire, (Geenna )
44 lapho ‘impethu yakhona engafiyo lomlilo wakhona ongacitshiyo.’]
‘where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
45 Njalo nxa unyawo lwakho lukwenzisa isono, luqume. Kungcono kuwe ukuthi ungene ekuphileni uyisilima kulokuthi ulenyawo ezimbili uphoselwe esihogweni, [ (Geenna )
If your foot causes you to be scandalized ·to entrap, to cause weak knees that waiver, stumbling block that causes falling, distrusting one that should be trusted and obeyed, disapproving of authority, to judge unfavorably causing displeasure, indignant·, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna (Place of fiery torment for the dead), into the fire that will never be quenched— (Geenna )
46 lapho ‘impethu zakhona ezidlayo zingafi lomlilo ongacitshiyo.’]
‘where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
47 Njalo nxa ilihlo lakho likwenza wone, likopole liphume. Kungcono kuwe ukungena embusweni kaNkulunkulu ulelihlo elilodwa kulokuba lamehlo amabili kodwa uphoselwe esihogweni, (Geenna )
If your eye causes you to be scandalized ·to entrap, to cause weak knees that waiver, stumbling block that causes falling, distrusting one that should be trusted and obeyed, disapproving of authority, to judge unfavorably causing displeasure, indignant·, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into God’s Kingdom with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna (Place of fiery torment for the dead) of fire, (Geenna )
48 lapho ‘impethu zakhona ezidlayo zingafi, lomlilo ongacitshiyo.’
‘where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’
49 Umuntu wonke uzakuvuvuzelwa itswayi ngomlilo.
For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.
50 Itswayi lilungile, kodwa nxa lingalahlekelwa yibumunyu balo, ungalivuselela njani na? Wobani letswayi ngaphakathi kwenu, lihlalisane ngokuthula.”
Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
