ULukha 8
1 Ngemva kwalokho uJesu wahambahamba engena kuleli laleli idolobho lemizi, ememezela izindaba ezinhle zombuso kaNkulunkulu. Abalitshumi lambili babelaye,
And it came to pass that he traveled through, by city and village in succession, announcing and preaching the good news of the kingdom of God, and the twelve men with him,
2 kanye labesifazane ababesiliswe emimoyeni emibi lemikhuhlaneni: uMariya (owayethiwa nguMagadalini) okwakuphume kuye amadimoni ayisikhombisa;
and certain women who were healed from evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
3 uJowana umkaTshuza, umlawuli wendlu kaHerodi; uSusana labanye abanengi. Abesifazane laba babebasiza ngabakuswelayo.
and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many other women who served them from the things they possessed.
4 Kwathi sekubuthana ixuku labantu elikhulu labantu besiza kuJesu beqhamuka emadolobheni atshiyeneyo wabatshela lo umzekeliso:
And when a large multitude gathered together, and those coming to him from each city, he spoke by a parable.
5 “Umlimi waphuma wayahlanyela. Wathi elokhu eyihaza inhlanyelo, eyinye yawela endleleni; yanyathelwa, izinyoni zemoyeni zayidobha.
The man who sows went forth to sow his seed. And during his sowing, some fell by the way, and it was trampled, and the birds of the sky devoured it.
6 Eyinye yawela edwaleni, yathi isathi iyakhula yabuna ngoba yayingelabumanzi.
And another fell on the rock, and having grown, it withered away because of not having moisture.
7 Eyinye inhlanyelo yawela phakathi kwameva, akhula kanye layo ayiminyezela.
And another fell amidst the thorns, and having grown together, the thorns choked it.
8 Eyinye inhlanyelo yawela emhlabathini ovundileyo. Yakhula yathela amabele, yanda ngekhulu.” Wathi esetsho lokhu wamemeza wathi, “Lowo olendlebe zokuzwa, kezwe.”
And another fell on the good ground, and having grown it produced fruit a hundredfold. As he said these things, he called out, He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
9 Abafundi bakhe bambuza ukuthi umzekeliso lowo wawusitshoni.
And his disciples questioned him, saying, What is this parable?
10 Wathi, “Ulwazi lwemfihlo yombuso kaNkulunkulu seluphiwe lina, kodwa kwabanye ngikhuluma kubo ngemizekeliso, ukuze kuthi, ‘loba bekhangele, bangaboni; loba besizwa, bengaqedisisi.’
And he said, To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the others in parables, so that seeing they would not see, and hearing they would not understand.
11 Nansi ingcazelo yomzekeliso: Inhlanyelo iyilizwi likaNkulunkulu.
Now the parable is this. The seed is the word of God.
12 Labo abasendleleni ngabalizwayo, kodwa uSathane eze alihluthune ilizwi ezinhliziyweni zabo, ukuze bangakholwa basindiswe.
And those by the way are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, lest having believed, they would be saved.
13 Labo abasokhetheni ngabemukela ilizwi ngentokozo nxa belizwa, kodwa kabalampande. Bayakholwa okwesikhatshana, kodwa kuthi ngesikhathi sobunzima bawe.
And those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. And these have no root, who believe for a time, and withdraw in time of trial.
14 Inhlanyelo eyawela emeveni imele labo abezwayo, kodwa baqhubeke ngeyabo indlela bakhanywe yizinhlupheko zempilo, inotho kanye lezikholisisayo, bangabe besakhula baphelele.
And that which fell in the thorns, these are those who heard, and as they go they are choked by cares and wealth and pleasures of life, and do not bring to maturity.
15 Kodwa inhlanyelo esemhlabathini ovundileyo imele labo abalenhliziyo enhle, elungileyo, abalizwayo ilizwi, baligcine bathi ngokubambelela bathele izithelo.”
But those in the good ground, these are those who in an good and right heart, having heard the word, hold it firm, and bring forth fruit in perseverance.
16 “Kakho olumathisa isibane asifihle ngaphansi kwesitsha kumbe asibeke ngaphansi kombheda. Kodwa usibeka esiqobaneni ukuze labo abangenayo babone ukukhanya.
And no man, having lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or places it under a bed, but places it on a lampstand, so that those who enter in may see the light.
17 Ngoba kakukho okufihliweyo okungayi kudazululwa, njalo akukho okuthukuziweyo okungayikwaziwa kumbe kuvezwe obala.
For there is no secret that will not become visible, nor hid, that will not be known and come to be visible.
18 Ngakho nanzelelani ukuthi lilalela kanjani. Lowo olakho uzakwengezelelwa; lowo ongelakho lalokho athi ulakho uzakwemukwa.”
Notice therefore how ye hear. For whoever has, to him will be given, and whoever has not, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.
19 Unina kaJesu labafowabo beza ukuzambona, kodwa behluleka ukufinyelela kuye ngenxa yokuminyana kwabantu.
And his mother and brothers came to him, and they could not come near him because of the crowd.
20 Omunye wamtshela wathi, “Unyoko labafowenu bakulindele phandle, bafuna ukukubona.”
And it was reported to him, saying, Thy mother and thy brothers stand outside, desiring to see thee.
21 Waphendula wathi, “Umama labafowethu yilabo abalizwayo ilizwi likaNkulunkulu balenze.”
But having answered, he said to them, My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.
22 Ngelinye ilanga uJesu wathi kubafundi bakhe, “Kasiyeni ngaphetsheya kwechibi.” Basebengena esikepeni bahamba.
Now it came to pass on one of those days, that he entered into a boat, also his disciples. And he said to them, Let us pass through to the other side of the lake. And they launched forth,
23 Bathe belokhu behamba yena walala. Kwafika isiphepho echibini isikepe saqalisa ukugalula, baba sengozini embi.
but as they sailed he began to asleep. And a storm of wind came down on the lake, and they were filling up, and were in peril.
24 Abafundi bahamba bayamvusa besithi, “Nkosi, Nkosi, sesigalula bo!” Wavuka wawukhuza umoya kanye lamagagasi; isiphepho sadeda, kwasekuthula cwaka.
And having approached, they awoke him, saying, Master, master, we are perishing. And having risen, he rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and it became calm.
25 Wababuza abafundi bakhe, wathi, “Kungaphi ukukholwa kwenu?” Babuzana ngokumangala lokwesaba bathi, “Kanti ungubani lo? Ukhuza kanye lomoya lamanzi kumlalele.”
And he said to them, Where is your faith? And having feared, they wondered, saying to each other, Who then is this man, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?
26 Bagwedla isikepe baya emangweni wamaGerazini, okungaphetsheya kwechibi kusuka eGalile.
And they sailed toward the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.
27 Kwathi uJesu esehla okhunjini wahlangabezwa yindoda eyayiledimoni iqhamuka ngasedolobheni. Indoda le yayisilesikhathi eside ingavunuli zigqoko, ingahlali endlini, kodwa ihlala emathuneni.
And when he came forth upon the land, a certain man met him out of the city, who had demons of a considerable time. And he wore no clothing, and did not dwell in a house, but in the sepulchers.
28 Yathi ibona uJesu yahlaba umkhosi yazilahla ezinyaweni zakhe iklabalala ngelizwi elikhulu isithi, “Ufuna ukungenzani, Jesu, Ndodana kaNkulunkulu oPhezukonke? Ngiyakuncenga, ungaze wangihlukuluza!”
And when he saw Jesus, having cried out, he fell down before him. And in a great voice he said, What is with me and with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I beseech thee, do not torment me.
29 Ngoba uJesu wayeseyale umoya omubi ukuthi uphume kuleyondoda. Izikhathi ezinengi wawumbamba, kuthi loba ebotshwe ngamaketane ezandleni lezinyaweni njalo elindiwe, wayewaqamula amaketane idimoni limuse enkangala.
For he commanded the unclean spirit to come out from the man, for many times it had seized him. And he was bound with chains and shackles, and guarded. And breaking the bonds apart, he was driven by the demon into the desolate regions.
30 UJesu wambuza wathi, “Ungubani ibizo lakho?” Waphendula wathi, “NginguLigiyoni,” ngoba amadimoni amanengi ayengene kuye.
And Jesus demanded him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion, because many demons were entered into him.
And they entreated him that he would not command them to go out into the abyss. (Abyssos g12)
32 Umhlambi omkhulu wengulube wawusidla khonapho eceleni koqaqa. Amadimoni amncenga uJesu ukuthi awavumele ukuyangena engulubeni, laye wawavumela.
Now a herd of considerable swine was there feeding on the mountain, and they implored him that he would allow them to enter into those. And he allowed them.
33 Amadimoni aphuma endodeni ayangena ezingulubeni, umhlambi wathi zimu usehlela eliweni lodonga wangena echibini wagalula.
And the demons having come out from the man, they entered into the swine. And the herd stampeded down the slope into the lake, and were drowned.
34 Labo ababezelusile bonela ukubona okwasekwenzakele babaleka bayabika edolobheni lemangweni wakhona,
And when those who tended them saw what happened, they fled and reported it in the city and in the fields.
35 abantu basebeqonda khonale ukuyabona okwasekwenzakele. Bathi befika kuJesu bayifumana indoda okwakukhutshwe kuyo amadimoni ihlezi ezinyaweni zikaJesu, igqokile njalo ingqondo isibuyile; besaba kakhulu.
And they came out to see what happened. And they came to Jesus, and found the man, from whom the demons had gone out, sitting near the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
36 Labo ababebonile kusenzakala batshela abantu ukuthi indoda eyayiphethwe lidimoni yasiliswa njani.
And also those who saw it informed them how the man who was demon-possessed was saved.
37 Kwasekusithi bonke abantu bomango wamaGerazini bamcela uJesu ukuthi kasuke kubo ngoba babekhulelwa yikwesaba. Ngakho wangena esikepeni wahamba.
And the whole multitude of the region around the Gadarenes besought him to depart from them, because they were gripped by great fear. And he, having embarked into the boat, returned.
38 Indoda leyo eyakhutshwa amadimoni yamncenga ukuthi ahambe layo, kodwa uJesu wala wathi,
But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him to be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 “Buyela ekhaya uyefakaza ukuthi uNkulunkulu ukwenzeleni.” Yikho indoda yahamba yafakaza kulolonke idolobho konke uJesu ayeyenzele khona.
Return to thy house, and relate everything God did for thee. And he departed, proclaiming throughout the whole city how many things Jesus did for him.
40 Kwathi uJesu esebuyile wahlangabezwa lixuku labantu elikhulu, ngoba bonke babemlindele.
And it came to pass during Jesus returning, the multitude welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.
41 Indoda eyayithiwa nguJayirosi, umbusi wesinagogu, yeza yazilahla ezinyaweni zikaJesu, imncenga ukuthi eze endlini yayo
And behold, there came a man whose name was Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And having fallen down near Jesus' feet, he besought him to come into his house,
42 ngoba indodakazi yayo eyodwa zwi, intombazana eyayileminyaka elitshumi lambili, yayisifa. Kwathi uJesu esesiya khona abantu baminyezela ingathi bazampatshaza.
because there was with him an only begotten daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But during his going the multitudes thronged him.
43 Khonapho kwakulowesifazane owayeseleminyaka elitshumi lambili esopha kodwa kungekho owayengamelapha.
And a woman being with an issue of blood for twelve years, who, although she spent her entire living on physicians, was unable to be healed by any,
44 Weza ngemva kukaJesu wathinta umphetho wesembatho sakhe, masinyane nje ukopha kwahle kwaphela.
having come from behind, she touched the border of his garment. And immediately the issue of her blood stayed.
45 UJesu wabuza wathi, “Ngubani ongithintileyo?” Kwathi ngoba bonke bephika uPhethro wathi, “Nkosi, abantu bayaminyezelana besondela kuwe.”
And Jesus said, Who is he who touched me? But when they all denied, Peter and those with him, said, Master, the multitudes come together and crowd thee, and thou say, Who is he who touched me?
46 Kodwa uJesu wathi, “Ukhona ongithintileyo; ngiyazi ukuthi amandla aphumile kimi.”
But Jesus said, Who touched me? For I perceived power having gone forth from me.
47 Owesifazane esebone ukuthi uzacina eboniwe weza ethuthumela wazilahla ezinyaweni zakhe. Wachaza phambi kwabantu bonke ukuthi kungani wayemthintile uJesu lokuthi wasiliswa njani masinyane.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling. And having fallen down before him, she declared to him in the presence of all the people for what reason she touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 UJesu wasesithi kuye, “Ndodakazi, ukholo lwakho lukusilisile. Hamba ngokuthula.”
And he said to her, Cheer up, Daughter. Thy faith has healed thee. Go in peace.
49 Kwathi uJesu elokhu esakhuluma omunye weza evela endlini kaJayirasi umphathi wesinagogu, wafika wathi, “Indodakazi yakho isifile. Ungabe usamhlupha umfundisi.”
While he still spoke, some man comes from the synagogue ruler, saying to him, Thy daughter has died. Do not trouble the teacher.
50 UJesu wathi ekuzwa lokhu wathi kuJayirasi, “Ungesabi, kholwa nje kuphela, izasiliswa.”
But having heard it, Jesus answered him, saying, Fear not, only believe and she will be saved.
51 Wathi esefikile endlini kaJayirasi, kavumelanga muntu ukuthi angene laye ngaphandle kukaPhethro, uJohane loJakhobe, kanye loyise womntwana lonina.
And when he came to the house, he did not allow any man to enter in except Peter and John and James, and the father of the girl and the mother.
52 Ngalesosikhathi abantu bonke babeqhinqa isililo bekhalela intombazana. UJesu wathi kubo, “Thulani, lingakhali. Kafanga kodwa ulele.”
And all were weeping and bewailing her. But he said, Weep not. She did not die, but sleeps.
53 Bamhleka usulu uJesu ngoba besazi ukuthi intombazana yayisifile.
And they ridiculed him, knowing that she died.
54 Kodwa wayibamba ngesandla wathi, “Mntanami, vuka!”
But having sent them all away outside, having taken her by the hand, he called out, saying, Girl, awake.
55 Umoya wayo wabuya, masinyane yasukuma yathi lothu! UJesu wasesithi kabamnike ukudla.
And her spirit returned, and she rose up immediately. And he commanded to give her to eat.
56 Abazali bakhe bamangala, kodwa wabalaya ukuthi bangatsheli muntu ngalokho okwakwenzakele.
And her parents were amazed, but he ordered them to tell no man that which happened.
