1 UThixo wathi kuMosi,

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2 “Tshela u-Aroni lamadodana akhe, labo bonke abako-Israyeli ukuthi: ‘Nanku okutshiwo nguThixo:

Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, saying,

3 Loba ngubani owako-Israyeli ozakwenza umhlatshelo ngenkabi, izinyane lemvu loba imbuzi ezihonqweni loba ngaphandle kwazo,

Every one of the house of Israel that slaughtereth an ox, or sheep, or goat, in the camp, or that slaughtereth it out of the camp,

4 esikhundleni sokuyiletha esangweni lethente lokuhlangana, ukuyinikela ukuthi ibe ngumnikelo kuThixo phambi kwethabanikeli likaThixo, lowomuntu uzakuba lecala lokuchitha igazi; usechithe igazi ngakho kumele axotshwe ebantwini bakibo.

and doth not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to present it as an offering to Jehovah, before the tabernacle of Jehovah, blood shall be reckoned unto that man: he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people,

5 Lokhu kuzakwenza abako-Israyeli balethe kuThixo imihlatshelo le abayenzela egangeni. Kabayilethe kumphristi, lokhu kuyikuthi, kuThixo, esangweni lethente lokuhlangana njalo banikele njengeminikelo yobudlelwano.

to the end that the children of Israel bring their sacrifices, which they sacrifice in the open field, that they bring them to Jehovah, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, unto the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace-offerings to Jehovah.

6 Umphristi kachele i-alithari likaThixo ngegazi esangweni lethente lokuhlangana, atshise amahwahwa njengephunga elimnandi kuThixo.

And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of Jehovah, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet odour to Jehovah.

7 Bangabe besanikela loba yiwuphi umnikelo kubonkulunkulu babo bembuzi labo ababaxhwalisayo. Lesi kumele kube yisimiso sabo esingapheliyo lakuzizukulwane ezizayo.’

And they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices unto demons, after whom they go a whoring. This shall be an everlasting statute unto them for their generations.

8 Wothi kubo: ‘Loba nguphi owako-Israyeli loba owezizwe ohlezi labo onikela umnikelo wokutshiswa loba umhlatshelo,

And thou shalt say unto them, Every one of the house of Israel, and of the strangers who sojourn among them, that offereth up a burnt-offering or sacrifice,

9 kodwa engawulethi esangweni lethente lokuhlangana ukuba akuhlabele uThixo, lowomuntu kaxotshwe ebantwini bakibo.

and bringeth it not to the entrance of the tent of meeting, to offer it up to Jehovah — that man shall be cut off from his peoples.

10 Loba ngubani owako-Israyeli loba owezizwe ohlala phakathi kwabo ozakudla loba yiliphi igazi, ngizamelana laye odla igazi, ngimxotshe phakathi kwabantu bakibo.

And every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, that eateth any manner of blood, — I will set my face against the soul that hath eaten blood, and will cut him off from among his people;

11 Ngoba impilo yesidalwa isegazini, njalo ngiliphile ukuthi lenze ukubuyisana kwenu e-alithareni ngalo; kuligazi elenze ukubuyisana empilweni yomuntu.

for the soul of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul.

12 Ngakho ngithi kwabako-Israyeli, “Kakho phakathi kwenu ozakudla igazi, loba owezizwe ohlala phakathi kwenu ozakudla igazi.”

Therefore have I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall the stranger who sojourneth among you eat blood.

13 Loba ngubani owako-Israyeli loba owezizwe ohlala phakathi kwenu ozingela loba yiphi inyamazana loba inyoni edliwayo, kavuzise igazi aligqibele ngenhlabathi,

And every one of the children of Israel, and of the strangers who sojourn among them, that catcheth in the hunt a beast or fowl that may be eaten, he shall pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with earth;

14 ngoba impilo yesidalwa isegazini laso. Yikho ngithe kwabako-Israyeli, “Lingabokudla igazi laloba yisiphi isidalwa, ngoba impilo yesidalwa sonke ligazi laso; loba ngubani olidlayo kaxotshwe.”

for as to the life of all flesh, its blood is the life in it; and I have said unto the children of Israel, Of the blood of no manner of flesh shall ye eat, for the life of all flesh is its blood: whoever eateth it shall be cut off.

15 Loba ngubani, kungaba ngumnikazi wendawo loba owezizwe, ozakudla loba kuyini okufunyanwe kufile, loba okubulewe yizinyamazana zeganga, kahlambe izigqoko zakhe kanye lomzimba wakhe ngamanzi, uzakuba ngongcolileyo ngokomkhuba kuze kuhlwe; uzakuba esehlambulukile.

And every soul that eateth of a dead carcase, or of that which was torn, be it one home-born, or a stranger, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the even: then he shall be clean.

16 Kodwa nxa engahlambi izigqoko zakhe lokugeza umzimba wakhe, uzakuba lecala.’”

And if he wash them not nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.
