1 UThixo wakhuluma loMosi ngemva kokufa kwamadodana ka-Aroni azama ukuqondana loThixo.
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], after the death of the two sons of Aaron [Light-bringer], when they came near before Adonai, and died;
2 UThixo wathi kuMosi, “Tshela umfowenu u-Aroni ukuthi angamani abuye nje ngokuthanda kwakhe endaweni eNgcwelengcwele, ngemva kwekhetheni, phambi kwesihlalo somusa phezu komtshokotsho funa afe, ngoba ngiyabonakala ngiseyezini phezu kwesihlalo somusa.
and Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “Tell Aaron [Light-bringer] your brother, not to come at all times into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.
3 U-Aroni kuzamele angene endaweni engcwele ngale indlela: Keze lejongosi, kube ngumnikelo wesono, kuthi okomnikelo wokutshiswa, kube yinqama.
“Aaron [Light-bringer] shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.
4 Uzagqoka ibhatshi elingcwele elenziwe ngelembu elicolekileyo, lezigqoko zelineni ezangaphansi; kazibophe ngebhanti elenziwe ngelineni njalo athwale iqhiye yelineni. Lezi yizembatho ezingcwele; ngakho kufanele ageze umzimba ngamanzi andubana agqoke izembatho lezi.
He shall put on the holy linen coat. He shall have the linen breeches on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.
5 Kathathe imbuzi ezinduna ezimbili esizweni sako-Israyeli zibe ngumnikelo wesono, lenqama ibe ngumnikelo wokutshiswa.
He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails] two male goats for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6 U-Aroni uzanikela ngenkunzi, ibe ngumnikelo wesono sakhe, ukwenzela ukubuyisana kwakhe lokwabendlu yakhe.
“Aaron [Light-bringer] shall offer the bull of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.
7 Abesethatha imbuzi zombili azilethe phambi kukaThixo, esangweni lethente lokuhlangana.
He shall take the two goats, and set them before Adonai at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
8 Uzaphosa inkatho yokubona ngembuzi zombili, eyinye izakuba ngekaThixo, enye ibe ngeyesesulelo.
Aaron [Light-bringer] shall cast lots for the two goats; one lot for Adonai, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
9 U-Aroni uzaletha imbuzi yenkatho kaThixo ibe ngumnikelo wesono.
Aaron [Light-bringer] shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Adonai, and offer him for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
10 Kodwa imbuzi edliwe yinkatho yesesulelo izalethwa kuThixo iphila ukuze isetshenziswe ukwenza ukubuyisana ngokuyixotshela enkangala, njengembuzi yesesulelo.
But the goat, on which the lot fell for the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before Adonai, to make atonement for him, to send him away for the scapegoat into the wilderness.
11 U-Aroni uzaletha inkunzi ibe ngumnikelo wesono sakhe ukwenzela ukubuyisana kwakhe lokwendlu yakhe, njalo uzayihlaba leyonkunzi ibe ngumnikelo wesono sakhe.
“Aaron [Light-bringer] shall present the bull of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering which is for himself.
12 Uzathatha isiphathelo sokutshisela impepha sigcwele amalahle avuthayo ase-alithareni phambi kukaThixo kanye lempepha ecolekileyo enuka kamnandi egcwala izandla ezimbili, ayelakho ngemva kwekhetheni.
He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Adonai, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:
13 Uzathela impepha emlilweni phambi kukaThixo, kuthi intuthu yempepha isibekele isihlalo somusa esiphezu kwezibhebhedu zobufakazi ukuze angafi.
and he shall put the incense on the fire before Adonai, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die.
14 Uzathatha elinye igazi lenkunzi, achele ngalo phambi kwebhokisi lesihlalo somusa esebenzisa umunwe wakhe; ngomunwe wakhe njalo achele kasikhombisa phambi kwesihlalo somusa.
He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
15 Ngemva kwalokho, uzabulala imbuzi ibe ngumnikelo wesono sabantu, abesethatha igazi layo aye ngemva kwekhetheni, ayekwenza njengalokhu akwenze ngegazi lenkunzi: Uzachela phezu kwesihlalo somusa laphambili kwaso.
“Then he shall kill the goat of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat.
16 Ngalokho uzakwenza indlela yokubuyisana, endaweni eNgcwelengcwele ngenxa yokungcola lokuhlamuka kwabako-Israyeli, kungakhathalekile ukuthi benze sono bani. Uzakwenza njalo into efanayo ethenteni lokuhlangana eliphakathi kwabo ngokungcola okuphakathi kwabo.
He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel [God prevails], and because of their rebellious breaches of relationships, even all their habitual sins ·missing the marks·; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them in the middle of their uncleanness.
17 Kakho ozangena ethenteni lokuhlangana, kusukela ekungeneni kuka-Aroni esiyakwenza indlela yokubuyisana endaweni eNgcwelengcwele aze aphume, esezenzele indlela yokubuyisana, leyabendlu yakhe kanye lesizwe sonke sako-Israyeli.
No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel [God prevails].
18 Ngakho uzakuza e-alithareni eliphambi kukaThixo, alenzele indlela yokubuyisana. Uzathatha elinye igazi lenkunzi lelinye elembuzi, aninde ngalo impondo zonke ze-alithare.
“He shall go out to the altar that is before Adonai and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.
19 Uzachela elinye igazi ngomunwe wakhe kasikhombisa ukulihlanza lokulingcwelisa kulokhu kungcola kwabako-Israyeli.
He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel [God prevails].
20 Nxa u-Aroni eseqedile ukwenzela indlela yokubuyisana indawo eNgcwelengcwele, ithente lokuhlangana kanye le-alithari, uzaletha imbuzi ephilayo.
“When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.
21 Uzabeka izandla zakhe zombili ekhanda lembuzi ephilayo, avumele phezu kwayo ukona lokuhlamuka kwabako-Israyeli, izono zabo zonke azifake ekhanda lembuzi. Imbuzi le izaxotshelwa enkangala iqhutshwa yindoda ekhethelwe lowomsebenzi.
Aaron [Light-bringer] shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and yadah ·extend hands in confession· over him confessing all the depravities (moral evils) of the children of Israel [God prevails], and all their rebellious breaches of relationships, even all their habitual sins ·missing the marks·; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.
22 Imbuzi izathwala zonke izono zabo, ithubele lazo; indoda izayixotshela enkangala.
The goat shall carry all their depravities (moral evils) on himself to a solitary land, and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness.
23 Ngakho u-Aroni uzangena ethenteni lokuhlangana, akhulule izigqoko zelineni abezigqoke engakangeni endaweni eNgcwelengcwele, azitshiye khonapho.
“Aaron [Light-bringer] shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.
24 Uzageza umzimba ngamanzi endaweni engcwele, abesegqoka izigqoko zakhe. Ngemva kwalokho uzaphuma lapho ayezinikelela umnikelo wokutshiswa kanye lokunikelela abantu umnikelo wokutshiswa, esenzela ukubuyisana kwakhe lokwabantu.
Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.
25 Njalo uzatshisa amahwahwa omnikelo wesono e-alithareni.
The fat of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering he shall burn on the altar.
26 Indoda ezaxotshela imbuzi eyisesulelo kumele ihlambe izigqoko zayo lomzimba ngamanzi; ngemva kwalokho isingangena ezihonqweni.
“He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
27 Inkunzi kanye lembuzi yomnikelo wesono, okulegazi elilethwe endaweni eNgcwelengcwele ukwenzela ukubuyisana, kakukhitshelwe ngaphandle kwezihonqo; kutshiswe izikhumba zakho, inyama kanye lezangaphakathi.
The bull for the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and the goat for the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.
28 Indoda ezatshisa lokhu kayigezise izigqoko zayo njalo igeze lomzimba wayo ngamanzi; ngemva kwalokho isingangena ezihonqweni.
He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29 Lokhu kakube yisimiso kini esingapheliyo: Ngosuku lwetshumi ngenyanga yesikhombisa, lizidele, lingabambi umsebenzi, loba lingabanikazi bendawo loba kungabezizwe phakathi kwenu,
“It shall be a regulation to you forever: in the seventh month Ethanim ·Ever-flowing durable stream (in Hebrew), 7· or Tishrei ·[Beginning (in Babylonian)]·, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you:
30 ngenxa yokuthi ngalolusuku lizakwenzelwa ukubuyisana, ukulihlambulula. Ngakho, phambi kukaThixo, lizabe selihlanzekile ezonweni zenu zonke.
for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your habitual sins ·missing the marks· you shall be clean before Adonai.
31 KuliSabatha lokuphumula, ngakho kumele lizidele, kuyisimiso esingapheliyo.
It is a Shabath ·Intermission· of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a regulation forever.
32 Umphristi ogcotshiweyo, wabekwa ukuthatha isikhundla sikayise ukuba ngumphristi omkhulu uzakwenza indlela yokubuyisana. Uzagqoka izigqoko ezingcwele zelineni,
The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.
33 enze ukubuyisana kwendawo eNgcwelengcwele, lokwethente lokuhlangana lokwe-alithari, lokwabaphristi kanye labantu bonke bakuleyondawo.
Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
34 Lokhu kuzakuba yisimiso esingapheliyo kini: Ukubuyisana kakwenziwe kanye ngomnyaka, kusenzelwa zonke izono zabako-Israyeli.” Lokhu kwenziwa, njengokulaywa kukaMosi nguThixo.
“This shall be an everlasting regulation for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel [God prevails] once in the year because of all their habitual sins ·missing the marks·.” It was done as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
