1 Kwathi isizwe sonke sesimchaphile uJodani, uThixo wathi kuJoshuwa,
And it was just when they had finished all the nation to pass over the Jordan. And he said Yahweh to Joshua saying.
2 “Khetha amadoda alitshumi lambili phakathi kwabantu, yileyo imele isizwana sako-Israyeli,
Take for yourselves from the people two [plus] ten men a man one a man one from a tribe.
3 ubusubatshela ukuthi bathathe amatshe alitshumi lambili phakathi laphakathi kweJodani kusukela lapho okwakumi khona abaphristi, beseliwathwala liwabeke endaweni elizalala kuyo lamuhla ebusuku.”
And command them saying take up for yourselves from here from [the] middle of the Jordan from [the] standing-place of [the] feet of the priests to make firm two [plus] ten stones and you will take over them with you and you will set down them at the lodging place which you will stay at it this night.
4 Ngakho-ke uJoshuwa wabiza amadoda alitshumi lambili ayewakhethe phakathi kwabako-Israyeli, eyodwa ivela esizwaneni.
And he called Joshua to two [plus] the ten man whom he had appointed from [the] people of Israel a man one a man one from a tribe.
5 Wasesithi kuwo, “Hambani phambi komtshokotsho wesivumelwano sikaThixo uNkulunkulu wenu liye phakathi laphakathi kweJodani. Omunye lomunye wenu kumele athwale ilitshe ehlombe lakhe, kusiya ngenani lezizwana zako-Israyeli,
And he said to them Joshua pass over before [the] ark of Yahweh God your into [the] middle of the Jordan and take up for yourselves each a stone one on shoulder his to [the] number of [the] tribes of [the] people of Israel.
6 ukuze kube luphawu phakathi kwenu. Kwelizayo nxa abantwana benu belibuza besithi, ‘Kanti amatshe la atshoni?’
So that it may be this a sign in midst your if they will ask! children your tomorrow saying what? [are] the stones these to you.
7 Libatshele ukuthi ukugeleza kweJodani kwamiswa phambi komtshokotsho wesivumelwano sikaThixo. Kwathi lapho umtshokotsho uchapha iJodani, amanzi omfula uJodani ehlukaniswa. Amatshe la azakuba yisukhumbuzo ebantwini bako-Israyeli nini lanini.”
And you will say to them that they were cut off [the] waters of the Jordan from before [the] ark of [the] covenant of Yahweh when passed on it in the Jordan they were cut off [the] waters of the Jordan and they will become the stones these a reminder to [the] people of Israel until perpetuity.
8 Ngakho-ke abako-Israyeli benza njengokulaya kukaJoshuwa. Bathatha amatshe alitshumi lambili phakathi laphakathi kweJodani, kusiya ngenani lezizwana zako-Israyeli, njengokulaywa kukaJoshuwa nguThixo; basebewathwalela ezihonqweni zabo lapho abafika bawabeka khona phansi.
And they did thus [the] people of Israel just as he had commanded Joshua and they took up two [plus] ten stones from [the] middle of the Jordan just as he had said Yahweh to Joshua to [the] number of [the] tribes of [the] people of Israel and they took over them with them to the lodging place and they set down them there.
9 UJoshuwa wamisa amatshe alitshumi lambili ayekade ephakathi laphakathi kweJodani, endaweni lapho abaphristi ababethwele umtshokotsho wesivumelwano abafika bema khona njalo lokhu ekhonapho kuze kube lamhlanje.
And two [plus] ten stones he set up Joshua in [the] middle of the Jordan in [the] standing-place of [the] feet of the priests [the] bearers of [the] ark of the covenant and they have been there until the day this.
10 Abaphristi ababethwele umtshokotsho baqhubeka bemi phakathi kweJodani abantu baze baqeda konke uThixo ayekulaye uJoshuwa, njengokuqondiswa kukaJoshuwa nguMosi. Abantu bedlula ngokuphangisa
And the priests [the] bearers of the ark [were] standing in [the] middle of the Jordan until was finished every thing which he had commanded Yahweh Joshua to speak to the people according to all that he had commanded Moses Joshua and they hurried the people and they passed over.
11 njalo bathi bonke sebechaphile, umtshokotsho wesivumelwano sikaThixo labaphristi beza kwelinye icele abantu bekhangele.
And it was just when it had finished all the people to pass over and it passed over [the] ark of Yahweh and the priests before the people.
12 Amadoda akoRubheni, akoGadi lengxenye yesizwana sakoManase achapha ehlomile phambi kwabako-Israyeli njengokuqondisa kukaMosi.
And they passed over [the] descendants of Reuben and [the] descendants of Gad and [the] half of [the] tribe of Manasseh arrayed for battle before [the] people of Israel just as he had spoken to them Moses.
13 Abantu abaphose bafike kunkulungwane ezingamatshumi amane ababehlomele impi bachapha phambi kukaThixo besiya emagcekeni eJerikho ukuyakulwa impi.
About forty thousand armed [men] of war they passed over before Yahweh for battle to [the] plains of Jericho.
14 Ngalelolanga uThixo waphakamisa uJoshuwa emehlweni abo bonke abako-Israyeli; njalo bamhlonipha okwempilo yakhe yonke, njengoba babehloniphe uMosi.
On the day that he made great Yahweh Joshua in [the] eyes of all Israel and they feared him just as they had feared Moses all [the] days of life his.
15 UThixo wathi kuJoshuwa,
And he said Yahweh to Joshua saying.
16 “Laya abaphristi abathwele umtshokotsho woBufakazi bakhuphuke baphume eJodani.”
Command the priests [the] bearers of [the] ark of the testimony so they may come up from the Jordan.
17 Ngakho uJoshuwa walaya abaphristi wathi, “Phumani phakathi kweJodani.”
And he commanded Joshua the priests saying come up from the Jordan.
18 Abaphristi baphuma emfuleni bethwele umtshokotsho wesivumelwano sikaThixo. Bonela ukunyathela umhlabathi owomileyo amanzi eJodani ahle abuyela endaweni yawo, ageleza okomfula ogcweleyo njengakuqala.
And it was (just as came up *Q(K)*) the priests [the] bearers of [the] ark of [the] covenant of Yahweh from [the] middle of the Jordan they were drawn out [the] soles of [the] feet of the priests to the dry ground and they returned [the] waters of the Jordan to place their and they went as yesterday three days ago over all banks its.
19 Ngelanga letshumi enyangeni yakuqala abantu basuka eJodani bayamisa izihonqo eGiligali emngceleni ongempumalanga yeJerikho.
And the people they went up from the Jordan on the ten of the month first and they encamped at Gilgal on [the] edge of [the] east of Jericho.
20 UJoshuwa wamisa amatshe alitshumi ayethethwe phakathi kweJodani eGiligali.
And two [plus] ten the stones these which they had taken from the Jordan he set up Joshua at Gilgal.
21 Wakhuluma kwabako-Israyeli wathi, “Kwelizayo nxa izizukulwane zenu zingabuza abazali bazo zisithi, ‘Amatshe la atshoni?’
And he said to [the] people of Israel saying that they will ask! children your tomorrow fathers their saying what? [are] the stones these.
22 Kumele libatshele ukuthi ‘Abako-Israyeli bachapha uJodani emhlabathini owomileyo!’
And you will make known to children your saying on the dry ground it passed over Israel the Jordan this.
23 Ngoba uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu womisa umfula uJodani phambi kwenu laze lachapha. UThixo uNkulunkulu wenu wenza kuJodani lokho akwenza oLwandle Olubomvu aze alomise phambi kwethu saze sachapha sonke.
That he dried up Yahweh God your [the] waters of the Jordan from before you until had passed over you just as he did Yahweh God your to [the] sea of reed[s] which he dried up from before us until had passed over we.
24 Wenza lokhu ukuze abantu bonke bomhlaba bakwazi ukuthi isandla sikaThixo silamandla lokuthi lihlale limesaba uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu.”
So as to know all [the] peoples of the earth [the] hand of Yahweh that [is] mighty it so that you may fear Yahweh God your all the days.
