1 Isabelo sesizwe sikaJuda, usendo lunye ngalunye sasiqhele sehla sayafika elizweni le-Edomi, sisiyakhawula eNkangala yeZini eningizimu kude le.

So then the boundary of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families, —reached unto the boundary of Edom, the desert of Zin southward, on the extreme south;

2 Umngcele wabo weningizimu wawuqalisela ethekwini oluseningizimu emaphethelweni oLwandle lweTswayi,

so their south boundary beginneth at the end of the Salt Sea, —from the bay that turneth to the south;

3 uchaphela eningizimu yoMkhandlu weNkume, uqhubeka usiya eZini, usiyaphutsha eningizimu yeKhadeshi Bhaneya. Wasusedlula eHezironi usiyafika e-Adari wabhoda unquma wayaphutsha ususeKhakha.

and goeth forth on the south of the cliffs of Akrabbim, and crosseth over to Zin, and goeth up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, —and passeth over by Hezron, and goeth up to Addar, and turneth round to Karka;

4 Wasusedlula usiya e-Azimoni usiyaxhumana lesiHotsha saseGibhithe, uphelela olwandle. Lo yiwo umngcele wabo waseningizimu.

and passeth over to Azmon, and goeth forth at the ravine of Egypt, and so the extensions of the boundary are to the sea. This, shall be your south boundary.

5 Umngcele wempumalanga luLwandle lweTswayi kuze kufike lapho okuthela khona iJodani. Umngcele weningizimu waqalela okhunjini lolwandle ekuqaleni kweJodani,

And, a boundary eastward, is the Salt Sea, as far as the end of the Jordan. And, the boundary on the north side, is from the bay of the sea, from the end of the Jordan.

6 wakhwela usiya eBhethi-Hogla, wabuye waqhubeka usiya Bhethi-Arabha uqonda eLitsheni likaBhohani indodana kaRubheni.

And the boundary goeth up Beth-hoglah, and passeth over, on the north, by Beth-arabah, —and the boundary goeth up by the Stone of Bohan, son of Reuben;

7 Umngcele wasuqansa usiya eDebhiri usuka esigodini sika-Akhori, wasujika usiya enyakatho ukhangela eGiligali ekhangelane loMkhandlu ka-Adumimu eningizimu yodonga. Waqhubeka usiya emanzini ase-Eni Shemeshi wasufika e-Eni Rogeli.

and the boundary goeth up towards Debir, out of the vale of Achor, then northward, turning unto Gilgal, which is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the ravine, —then the boundary passeth over unto the waters of En-shemesh, and so the extensions thereof are unto En-rogel:

8 Wasuqonda esigodini seBheni-Hinomu emthezukweni wangeningizimu yedolobho lamaJebusi (okutsho iJerusalema). Usuka lapho waqansa phezu koqaqa entshonalanga yesigodi seHinomu ekucineni kwangenyakatho yesigodi seRefayi.

then ascendeth the boundary by the valley of the son of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite, on the south, the same, is Jerusalem, —and the boundary goeth up unto the top of the mountain which faceth the valley of Hinnom, to the west, which is at the end of the Vale of Giants, northwards;

9 Usuka engqongeni yoqaqa, umngcele waqonda emthonjeni wamanzi aseNefuthowa, wasuphutsha emadolobheni eNtabeni ye-Efroni wasusehla usiya eBhala (okutsho iKhiriyathi-Jeyarimi).

and the boundary turneth round, from the top of the mountain, unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and goeth out unto the cities of Mount Ephron, —then the boundary turneth round to Baalah, the same, is Kiriath-jearim;

10 Wasujika usiya entshonalanga usuka eBhala usiya entabeni yeSeyiri, wedlula emthezukweni wangenyakatho yentaba iJeyarimi (okutsho iKhesaloni) waqhubeka usiya eBhethi-Shemeshi uchaphela eThimina.

then the boundary goeth round from Baalah westward, unto Mount Seir, and passeth over unto the slope of Mount Yearim, on the north, the same, is Chesalon, —and descendeth Bethshemesh, and passeth over Timnah;

11 Waqonda emthezukweni wenyakatho owe-Ekroni, wajika ukhangele eShikheroni, wedlule usiya eNtabeni yeBhala wafika eJabhiniyeli. Umngcele waphelela olwandle.

then the boundary goeth forth unto the side of Ekron, northward, then the boundary turneth round towards Shikkeron, and crosseth over Mount Baalah, and goeth out at Jabneel, —and the extensions of the boundary are to the sea.

12 Umngcele wangentshonalanga likhumbi loLwandle oLukhulu. Le yiyo imingcele eyayigombolozele abantu bakoJuda usendo lunye ngalunye.

And, as a west boundary, are the great sea and coast. This, is the boundary of the sons of Judah, round about, by their families.

13 Njengokulaya kukaThixo kuye, uJoshuwa wanika uKhalebi indodana kaJefune ingxenye eseJuda, iKhiriyathi Aribha, okutsho iHebhroni (u-Abha wayengukhokho ka-Anakhi).

And, to Caleb, son of Jephunneh, gave he a portion, in the midst of the sons of Judah, at the bidding of Yahweh, by Joshua, —even the City of Arba, father of Anak, the same, is Hebron.

14 Esuka eHebhroni uKhalebi waxotsha ama-Anakhi amathathu abalisa uSheshayi, u-Ahimani loThalimayi abantwana baka-Anakhi.

And Caleb dispossessed from thence, the three sons of Anak, —Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak.

15 Esuka lapho wahamba ehlasela abantu ababehlala eDebhiri (okwakuthiwa yiKhiriyathi-Sefa).

And he went up from thence, against the inhabitants of Debir, —now, the name of Debir, formerly, was Kiriath-sepher.

16 UKhalebi wathi, “Ngizakwendisela indodakazi yami u-Akhisa endodeni ezahlasela ithumbe iKhiriyathi-Sefa.”

Then said Caleb, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and captureth it, I will give unto him Achsah, my daughter, to wife.

17 U-Othiniyeli indodana kaKhenazi, umfowabo kaKhalebi, wayithumba; ngakho uKhalebi wendisela indodakazi yakhe u-Akhisa kuye.

And Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, captured it, —so he gave unto him Achsah, his daughter, to wife.

18 Ngelinye ilanga u-Akhisa wafika ku-Othiniyeli wamkhuthaza ukuthi acele insimu kuyise. Lapho esehlile kubabhemi wakhe, uKhalebi wambuza wathi, “Kuyini engingakwenzela khona?”

And it came to pass, when she came, that she moved him to ask of her father a field, and, when she alighted from off the ass, Caleb said unto her—What aileth thee?

19 Waphendula wathi, “Ngicela ungenzele umusa obalulekileyo. Njengoba unginike umhlaba eNegebi, ngicela unginike lemithombo yamanzi.” Ngakho uKhalebi wamnika imithombo eyayingaphezulu leyayingaphansi.

And she said—Give me a present, for, dry land, hast thou given me, therefore must thou give me, pools of water. So he gave her upper pools and lower pools.

20 Leli lilifa lesizwe sikaJuda ngezinsendo zaso:

This, is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by their families.

21 Amadolobho aseningizimu kwesizwe sikaJuda eNegebi ekuyeni emngceleni we-Edomi ayeyila: IKhabhizeli, i-Ederi, iJaguri,

And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the sons of Judah, towards the boundary of Edom in the south, were, —Kabzeel and Eder, and Jagur,

22 iKhina, iDimona, i-Adada,

and Kinah and Dimonah, and Adadah, —

23 iKhedeshi, iHazori, i-Ithinani,

and Kedesh and Hazor, and Ithnan,

24 iZifi, iThelemu, iBheyalothi,

Ziph and Talem, and Bealoth,

25 iHazori-Hadatha, iKheriyothi Hezironi (okutsho iHazori),

and Hazor-hadattah and Kerioth-hezron, the same, is Hazor;

26 i-Amamu, iShema, iMolada,

Amam and Shema, and Moladah,

27 iHazari-Gada, iHeshimoni, iBhethi Phelethi,

and Hazar-gaddah and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet.

28 iHazari-Shuwali, iBherishebha, iBhiziyothiya,

and Hazarshual and Beer-sheba, with the hamlets thereof,

29 iBhala, i-Iyimu, i-Ezema,

Baalah and Iyyim, and Ezem,

30 i-Elitholadi, iKhesili, iHoma

and Eltolad and Chesil, and Hormah,

31 iZikhilagi, iMadimana, iSansana,

and Ziklag and Madmannah, and Sansannah,

32 iLebhayothi, iShilihimu, i-Ayini leRimoni, esewonke kwakungamadolobho angamatshumi amabili lesificamunwemunye lemizana yawo.

and Lebaoth and Shilhim, and En-rimmon, —all the cities are twenty-nine, with their villages.

33 Emawatheni asentshonalanga kwakulamadolobho la: I-Eshithawoli, iZora, i-Ashina,

In the lowland, —Eshtaol and Zorah, and Ashnah,

34 iZanowa, i-Eni-Ganimu, iThaphuwa, i-Enamu,

and Zanoah and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam;

35 iJamuthi, i-Adulami, iSokho, i-Azekha,

Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah;

36 iShaharayimu, i-Adithayimu leGedera (kumbe iGederothayimu) amadolobho alitshumi lane lemizi yawo.

and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim, —fourteen cities, with their villages.

37 IZenani, iHadasha, iMigidali-Gadi,

Zenan and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,

38 iDiliyeni, iMizipha, iJokhitheyeli,

and Dilan and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,

39 iLakhishi, iBhozikhathi, i-Egiloni,

Lachish and Bozkath, and Eglon,

40 iKhabhoni, iLahimasi, iKhithilishi

and Cabbon and Lahmas, and Chithlish,

41 iGederothi, iBhethi-Dagoni, iNahama leMakheda, amadolobho alitshumi lesithupha lemizi yawo.

and Gederoth, Beth-dagon and Naamah, and Makkedah, —sixteen cities, with their villages.

42 ILibhina, i-Etheri, i-Ashani,

Libnah and Ether, and Ashan,

43 i-Ifitha, i-Ashina, iNezibhi,

and Iphtah and Ashnah, and Nezib,

44 iKheyila, i-Akhizibhi leMaresha, amadolobho ayisificamunwemunye lemizi yawo.

and Keilah and Achzib, and Mareshah, —nine cities, with their villages.

45 I-Ekroni, lemizana eyigqagqeleyo;

Ekron with her towns, and her villages.

46 entshonalanga ye-Ekroni, wonke ayeseduzane le-Ashidodi, ndawonye lemizana yawo;

From Ekron, even unto the sea, —all that were by the side of Ashdod with their villages.

47 i-Ashidodi lemizana eyigqagqeleyo leGaza, imizana eyigqagqeleyo kusiyafika esiHotsheni saseGibhithe lekhunjini loLwandle oLukhulu.

Ashdod, her towns and her villages. Gaza, her towns and her villages, as far as the ravine of Egypt, —and the great sea and coast.

48 Elizweni lamaqaqa kwakule: IShamiri, iJathiri, iSokho,

And in the hill-country, —Shamir and Jattir, and Socoh,

49 iDana, iKhiriyathi-Sana (okutsho iDebhiri),

and Dannah and Kiriath-sannah, the same, is Debir,

50 i-Anabhi, i-Eshithemo, i-Animi,

and Anab and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

51 iGosheni, iHoloni leGilo, amadolobho alitshumi lanye lemizana yawo.

and Goshen and Holon, and Giloh, —eleven cities, with their villages.

52 I-Arabhu, iDuma, i-Eshani,

Arab and Rumah and Eshan,

53 iJanimu, iBhethi-Thaphuwa, i-Afeka,

and Janim and Beth-tappuah and Aphekah,

54 iHumtha, iKhiriyathi Aribha (okutsho iHebhroni) leZiwori, amadolobho ayisificamunwemunye lemizana yawo.

and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba, the same, is Hebron, and Zior, —nine cities, with their villages.

55 IMawoni, iKhameli, iZifi, iJutha,

Maon, Carmel, and Ziph and Jutah,

56 iJezerili, iJokideyamu, iZanowa,

and Jezreel and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,

57 iKhayini, iGibhiya leThimina, amadolobho alitshumi lemizana yawo.

Kain, Gibeah and Timnah, —ten cities, with their villages.

58 IHalihuli, iBhethi Zuri, iGedori,

Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,

59 iMaharathi, iBhethi-Anothi le-Elithekhoni, amadolobho ayisithupha lemizana yawo.

and Maarath and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon, —six cities, with their villages.

60 IKhiriyathi-Bhali (okutsho ukuthi iKhiriyathi-Jeyarimi) leRabha, amadolobho amabili lemizana yawo.

Kiriath-baal, the same, is Kiriath-jearim, and Rabbah, —two cities, with their villages.

61 Enkangala: IBhethi-Arabha, iMidini, iSekhakha,

In the desert, —Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62 iNibhishani, iDolobho letswayi le-Eni-Gedi, amadolobho ayisithupha lemizana yawo.

and Nibshan and the City of Salt, and En-gedi, —six cities, with their villages.

63 UJuda wehluleka ukususa amaJebusi ayehlala eJerusalema; lanamuhla amaJebusi lokhu ehlala lapho labantu bakoJuda.

But, as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not dispossess them, —so the Jebusites have dwelt with the sons of Judah, in Jerusalem, until this day.
