1 Kwathi-ke uBhilidadi umShuhi waphendula wathi:

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,

2 “Umbuso lesizotha kukuye uNkulunkulu; nguye omisa konke ngemfanelo ezulwini eliphezulu.

“Dominion and fear are with him; he makes order in his high places of heaven.

3 Amabutho akhe angabalwa na? Ngubani ongaphunyelwa yikukhanya kwakhe na?

Is there any end to the number of his armies? Upon whom does his light not shine?

4 Pho umuntu angaba ngolungileyo njani kuNkulunkulu na? Angenza njani ozelwe ngowesifazane ukuthi ahlanzeke na?

How then can man be righteous with God? How can he who is born of a woman be clean, acceptable to him?

5 Khangela, nxa inyanga ngokwayo ingakhazimuli, lezinkanyezi zingahlanzekanga emehlweni akhe,

See, even the moon has no brightness to him; the stars are not pure in his sight.

6 pho umuntu-ke usilela kanganani, oyimpethu nje, umuntu, oyinhlava nje kuphela!”

How much less man, who is a worm— a son of man, who is a worm!”
