< U-Isaya 53 >
1 Ngubani olikholiweyo ilizwi lethu, njalo amandla kaThixo abonakaliswe kubani na?
Who has trusted our message? To whom has the arm of Adonai been revealed?
2 Wakhula phambi kwakhe njengehlumela, lanjengempande emhlabathini owomileyo. Wayengelabuhle lobukhosi ukuba asikhange, kungelalutho esimeni sakhe olungenza simfune.
For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no good looks or majesty. When we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 Weyiswa njalo waliwa ngabantu, umuntu wezinsizi, njalo ekujayele ukuhlupheka. Lowo abantu abangafuniyo ukukhangelana laye weyiswa, asimhloniphanga.
He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.
4 Ngempela wathatha inhlungu zethu wathwala insizi zethu, kodwa thina sathi utshaywe nguNkulunkulu, ebethwe nguye, njalo uhlutshiwe.
Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.
5 Kodwa wagwazwa ngenxa yezono zethu, wachobozwa ngenxa yokona kwethu, ukuhlutshwa kwakhe kwasilethela ukuthula, njalo sasiliswa ngamanxeba akhe.
But he was pierced for our rebellious breaches of relationships. He was crushed for our depravities (moral evils). The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his stripes and wounds we are healed and made whole.
6 Thina sonke silahlekile njengezimvu, munye ngamunye wethu uphambukele endleleni yakhe; njalo uThixo ubeke phezu kwakhe ukona kwethu sonke.
All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and Adonai has laid on him את the depravity (moral evil) of us all.
7 Wancindezelwa wahlutshwa, kodwa kawuvulanga umlomo wakhe; wakhokhelwa ukuyabulawa njengewundlu, njalo njengemvu ithule phambi komgundi wayo, laye kawuvulanga umlomo wakhe.
He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he didn’t open his mouth.
8 Ngokuncindezelwa langokwahlulela wathathwa. Ngubani ongakhuluma ngesizukulwane sakhe na? Ngoba wasuswa elizweni labaphilayo; watshaywa ngenxa yeziphambeko zabantu bami.
After forcible arrest and sentencing, he was taken away; את and none of his generation protested his being cut off out of the land of the living for the rebellious breach of relationship of my people, who deserved the punishment themselves.
9 Wabelwa ingcwaba kanye lababi, kanye labanothileyo ekufeni kwakhe, lanxa kungeladlakela alwenzayo njalo kungekho inkohliso emlonyeni wakhe.
They made his grave with את the wicked, את and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Ikanti kwakuyintando kaThixo ukumchoboza lokumenza ahlupheke, njalo lanxa uThixo esenza ukuphila kwakhe umnikelo wecala, uzabona inzalo yakhe, andise insuku zokuphila kwakhe, lentando kaThixo izaphumelela ngaye.
Yet it pleased Adonai to bruise him. He has caused him to suffer. To see if he would present himself as a fault incurring guilt offering. If he does, he will see his offspring, and he will prolong his days, and Adonai’s pleasure will prosper in his hand.
11 Emva kokuhlupheka komoya wakhe, uzabona ukukhanya kokuphila asuthiseke; ngokwazi kwayo inceku yami elungileyo izalungisa abanengi, ithwale izono zabo.
After this ordeal, he will see satisfaction “By his knowing [pain and sacrifice]. My righteous servant will justify many; for it is their depravities (moral evils) that he suffers.
12 Ngakho-ke ngizamnika isabelo phakathi kwabakhulu, njalo uzakwabelana impango labalamandla ngoba wanikela ukuphila kwakhe ekufeni, wabalwa ndawonye lezoni; ngoba wathwala izono zabanengi, wancengela izoni.
Therefore will I give him a portion with the great, את and with the strong he will divide the spoils; because he exposed himself to death, and was counted with את the rebellious who break away from authority thus breaking relationship; while actually bearing the crime deserving peanlty, sin ·missing the goal· of many, and interceding for the rebellious who break away from authority thus breaking relationship.
