1 UNkulunkulu wambusisa uNowa lamadodana akhe wathi kubo, “Zalanani lande ngobunengi ligcwalise umhlaba.
So God blessed Noah and his sons, —and said to them Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth;
2 Zizalesaba zibe lovalo ngani zonke izinyamazana zomhlaba, lazozonke izinyoni zemoyeni, lezinanakazana ezihuquzela emhlabathini, kanye lenhlanzi zonke zolwandle; ziphiwe ezandleni zakho.
and let the fear of you and the dread of you be upon every living creature of the earth, and upon every bird of the heavens, —over everything that moveth along on the ground, and over all the fishes of the sea, —into your hand, have they been given.
3 Yonke into ephilayo lenyakazayo izakuba yikudla kuwe. Njengalokhu ngalipha izihlahla eziluhlaza, manje sengilipha yonke into.
As for every moving thing that hath life, yours, shall it be, for food, —Like the green herb, have I given you all things.
4 Kodwa lingadli inyama ilegazi lokuphila phakathi kwayo.
Yet flesh with the life thereof, the blood thereof, shall ye not eat;
5 Njalo igazi lokuphila kwenu ngizafuna impendulo ngalo, ngizafuna impendulo kuyo yonke inyamazana. Njalo emuntwini wonke ngizafuna ukwazi ngempilo yomzalwane wakhe.
And surely your blood, of your lives, will I require, From the hand of every living creature, will I require it, —and from the hand of man From the hand of each one’s brother, will I require the life of man:
6 Loba ngubani ochitha igazi lomuntu, igazi lakhe lizachithwa ngumuntu; ngoba ngomfanekiso kaNkulunkulu, uNkulunkulu umenzile umuntu.
He that sheddeth man’s blood, by man, shall his blood be shed, —For, in the image of God, made he man.
7 Mayelana lani, zalanani lande ngobunengi; yandani emhlabeni libe banengi.”
Ye, therefore, be fruitful and multiply, swarm in the earth and multiply therein.
8 UNkulunkulu wasesithi kuNowa lakumadodana akhe ayelawo:
And God spake unto Noah, and unto his sons with him saying:
9 “Manje sengimisa isivumelwano sami lani lezizukulwane zenu ezilandelayo
I, therefore, behold me! establishing my covenant with you, —and with your seed after you;
10 lasosonke isidalwa esiphilayo esasilawe, izinyoni, izifuyo lezinyamazana zeganga, zonke lezo ezaphuma lani emkhunjini, sonke isidalwa esiphilayo emhlabeni.
and with every living soul that is with you, of birds, of tame-beasts and of all wild-beasts of the earth that are with you, —of all coming forth out of the ark, even to all wild-beasts of the earth;
11 Ngiyasimisa isivumelwano sami lani: Kakusoze njalo impilo yonke iqunywe ngamanzi kazamcolo; kakusoze njalo kube lozamcolo ozabhubhisa umhlaba.”
yea, I will establish my covenant with you, so that all flesh shall not be cut off any more, by reason of the waters of a flood, —neither shall there be any more a flood to destroy the earth.
12 UNkulunkulu wathi, “Lesi yisiboniso sesivumelwano engisenzayo phakathi kwami lani lasosonke isidalwa esiphilayo elilaso, isivumelwano sezizukulwane zonke ezizayo:
And God said, This, is the sign of the covenant which I am granting betwixt me and you, and every living soul that is with you, —to age-abiding generations: —
13 Sengibeke umchilowamakhosikazi wami emayezini, wona uzakuba yisiboniso sesivumelwano phakathi kwami lomhlaba.
My bow, have I set in the cloud, —and it shall be for a sign of a covenant, betwixt me and the earth;
14 Kuzakuthi nxa ngiletha amayezi phezu komhlaba besekuvela umchilowamakhosikazi emayezini,
and it shall be when I draw a veil of cloud over the earth, —and the bow in the cloud appeareth,
15 ngizakhumbula isivumelwano sami phakathi kwami lani lazozonke izidalwa eziphilayo ezemihlobo yonke. Kakusoze njalo lanini amanzi abe yisikhukhula esizabhubhisa impilo.
then will I remember my covenant which is betwixt me and you, and every living soul among all flesh, —that the waters may no more become a flood, to destroy all flesh:
16 Kuzakuthi nxa kungavela umchilowamakhosikazi emayezini ngizawubona besengikhumbula isivumelwano saphakade phakathi kukaNkulunkulu lezidalwa zonke eziphilayo ezemihlobo yonke emhlabeni.”
so the bow shall be in the cloud, —and I will behold it, to remember an age-abiding covenant, between God, and every living soul among all flesh that is on the earth.
17 UNkulunkulu wasesithi kuNowa, “Lesi yisiboniso sesivumelwano esengisimisile phakathi kwami lakho konke okuphilayo emhlabeni.”
And God said unto Noah, This is the sign of the covenant which have established, between me and all flesh that is on the earth.
18 Amadodana kaNowa aphuma emkhunjini ayengoShemu, uHamu loJafethi. (UHamu wayenguyise kaKhenani.)
And the sons of Noah who came forth out of the ark, were—Shem and Ham and Japheth, —now, Ham, was the father of Canaan.
19 La ayeyiwo amadodana amathathu kaNowa, kuwo kwadabuka abantu abasabalala emhlabeni wonke.
These three, were the sons of Noah, —and from these, was all the earth overspread.
20 UNowa, indoda yomhlabathi, wasuka wahlanyela isivini.
And Noah began to be a husbandman, —so he planted a vineyard:
21 Wathi esenathe iwayini lakhona, wadakwa walala enqunu phakathi kwethente lakhe.
and dank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself in the midst of his tent.
22 UHamu, uyise kaKhenani, wabona ubunqunu bukayise wasetshela abafowabo phandle.
And Ham the father of Canaan saw his father’s shame, —and told his two brethren outside.
23 Kodwa uShemu loJafethi bathatha isivunulo basiphosela emahlombe abo; bangena behamba nyovane bamboza ubunqunu bukayise. Ubuso babo babukhangele emuva ukuze bangaboni ubunqunu bukayise.
And Shem and Japheth took a mantle, and put it on the shoulder of them both and went backwards, and covered the shame of their father, but their faces were backwards, and the shame of their father, saw they not.
24 Kwathi uNowa esevukile selehlile iwayini wezwa ngokwakwenziwe kuye yindodana yakhe encane kulamanye,
And Noah awoke from his wine, —and came to know what his youngest son had done to him.
25 wathi, “Uqalekisiwe uKhenani! Isigqili esizakuba phansi kubafowabo.”
And he said, Accursed be Canaan, —a servant of servants, shall he be to his brethren!
26 Wabuya wathi njalo, “Udumo kalube kuThixo, uNkulunkulu kaShemu! Sengathi uKhenani angaba yisigqili sikaShemu.
And he said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Shem, —And let Canaan be their servant:
27 Sengathi uNkulunkulu angaqhelisa indawo kaJafethi; sengathi uJafethi angahlala emathenteni kaShemu, njalo sengathi uKhenani angaba yisichaka sakhe.”
God give extension to Japheth, But make his habitation in the tents of Shem, And let Canaan be their servant.
28 Ngemva kukazamcolo uNowa waphila okweminyaka engamakhulu amathathu lamatshumi amahlanu.
And Noah lived after the flood, —three hundred and fifty years:
29 UNowa waphila okweminyaka engamakhulu ayisificamunwemunye lamatshumi amahlanu isiyonke, wasesifa.
so, all the days of Noah, were—nine hundred and fifty years, —and he died.
