1 Lina maGalathiya ayizithutha! Ngubani oliloyileyo? Phambi kwamehlo enu uJesu Khristu wabonakaliswa obala ebethelwe.
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Yahushua the Messiah hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 Mina ngifuna ukwazi into eyodwa nje kini: UMoya lamamukela ngokugcina umthetho loba ngokukholwa lokho elakuzwayo na?
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Kanti liyizithutha kangaka? Emva kokuqalisa ngoMoya, khathesi selizama ukuzuza ukuphelela ngemizamo yabantu na?
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4 Kanti lihlupheke kangaka lihluphekela ize na, nxa impela kwakungokweze?
Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5 Kanti uNkulunkulu ulinika uMoya wakhe abuye enze izimangaliso phakathi kwenu ngoba ligcina umthetho loba ngoba likholwa lokho elakuzwayo na?
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6 Khumbulani u-Abhrahama: “Wamkholwa uNkulunkulu, kwabalelwa kuye njengokulunga.”
Even as Abraham believed YHWH, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Ngakho zwisisani ukuthi labo abakholwayo bangabantwana baka-Abhrahama.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 Umbhalo wabona ngaphambili ukuthi uNkulunkulu wayezalungisa abeZizweni ngokukholwa, wahle wamemezela ivangeli ngaphambili ku-Abhrahama esithi: “Zonke izizwe zizabusiswa ngawe.”
And the scripture, foreseeing that YHWH would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the glad tidings unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 Ngakho labo abalokholo babusiswa kanye lo-Abhrahama, umuntu wokholo.
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10 Bonke abathembe umthetho bangaphansi kwesiqalekiso ngoba kulotshiwe ukuthi: “Uqalekisiwe umuntu wonke ongaqhubeki esenza konke okulotshwe eNcwadini yoMthetho.”
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 Kusobala ukuthi akakho olungisiswa ngomthetho phambi kukaNkulunkulu ngoba, “Abalungileyo bazaphila ngokukholwa.”
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of YHWH, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 Umthetho kaweyamanga ekukholweni; kodwa, “Umuntu owenza izinto lezi uzaphila ngazo.”
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13 UKhristu wasihlenga esiqalekisweni somthetho ngokuba yisiqalekiso ngenxa yethu, ngoba kulotshiwe ukuthi: “Uqalekisiwe umuntu wonke olengiswa esihlahleni.”
The Messiah hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 Wasihlenga ukuze isibusiso esaphiwa u-Abhrahama sifike kwabeZizweni ngoKhristu uJesu, ukuze samukele isithembiso sikaMoya ngokukholwa.
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Yahushua the Messiah; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Bazalwane, ake ngithathe isibonelo sokuphila kwansukuzonke. Njengoba engekho ongabeka eceleni loba engeze kusivumelwano sabantu esenziwe ngemfanelo, kunjalo-ke lakule indaba.
Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Izithembiso zatshiwo ku-Abhrahama lakunzalo yakhe. Umbhalo kawuthi “kwabenzalo,” usitsho abantu abanengi, kodwa uthi, “lakunzalo yakho,” usitsho umuntu oyedwa, lowo kunguKhristu.
Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is the Messiah.
17 Engikutshoyo yilokhu: Umthetho owabekwa eminyakeni engamakhulu amane lamatshumi amathathu muva, kawusibeki eceleni isivumelwano esamiswa ngaphambili nguNkulunkulu ngalokho wesule isithembiso.
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of YHWH in the Messiah, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 Ngoba nxa ilifa leyame emthethweni, ngalokho kaliseyamanga esithembisweni; kodwa uNkulunkulu ngomusa wakhe, walinika u-Abhrahama ngesithembiso.
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but YHWH gave it to Abraham by promise.
19 Pho, yayiyini-ke injongo yomthetho? Wengezelelwa ngenxa yeziphambeko kwaze kwafika iNzalo eyayitshiwo yisithembiso. Umthetho wenziwa wasebenza ngezingilosi lomeli.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Kodwa umeli kameli icele elilodwa; kodwa uNkulunkulu munye.
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but YHWH is one.
21 Kambe ngalokho umthetho uphambene lezithembiso zikaNkulunkulu na? Akunjalo lakancane! Ngoba nxa kwakubekwe umthetho onika ukuphila, ukulunga impela kwakuzavela ngomthetho.
Is the law then against the promises of YHWH? By no means: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22 Kodwa umbhalo uvalele konke ngaphansi kwesono, ukwenzela ukuthi okwakuthenjisiwe, kuphiwa ngokukholwa kuJesu Khristu, sokungaphiwa labo abakholwayo.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Yahushua the Messiah might be given to them that believe.
23 Ukholo lolu lungakabi khona sasiyizibotshwa zomthetho, sivalelwe ukholo olwaluzakuza luze lubonakaliswe.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Ngakho umthetho waphiwa amandla okusiholela kuKhristu ukuba silungisiswe ngokukholwa.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto the Messiah, that we might be justified by faith.
25 Khathesi-ke njengoba ukholo selukhona, kasisekho ngaphansi kwamandla omthetho.
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 Lonke lingabantwana bakaNkulunkulu ngokukholwa kuKhristu uJesu
For ye are all the children of YHWH by faith in the Messiah Yahushua.
27 ngoba lonke lina elabhaphathizelwa kuKhristu selizembathise ngoKhristu.
For as many of you as have been baptized into the Messiah have put on the Messiah.
28 AkulamJuda loba oweZizweni, isigqili loba okhululekileyo, owesilisa loba owesifazane, ngoba lonke limunye kuKhristu uJesu.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in the Messiah Yahushua.
29 Nxa lingabakaKhristu, ngalokho liyinzalo ka-Abhrahama, lezindlalifa njengokutsho kwesithembiso.
And if ye be the Messiah's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
