Kwabase-Efesu 5
1 Ngakho-ke, wobani ngabalingiseli bakaNkulunkulu njengabantwana abathandwa kakhulu
Be ye therefore imitators of God as his dear children; and walk in love,
2 liphile impilo yothando, njengalokhu uKhristu wasithanda wazinikela ngenxa yethu njengomnikelo olephunga elimnandi lomhlatshelo kaNkulunkulu.
even as Christ hath loved us, and given Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of sweet perfume.
3 Kodwa phakathi kwenu Akungabikhona umthonselanyana wokuhlobonga loba uhlobo luphi lokungcola kumbe ubuhwaba ngoba lezizinto kazifanelanga ebantwini abangcwele bakaNkulunkulu.
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or inordinate desire, let it not be even named among you; for so it becometh saints:
4 Njalo akumelanga kube lenhlamba lenkulumo zobuthutha loba ubuphoxo khona okuyizinto ezingafanelanga kodwa kakube lokubonga.
nor ribaldry, nor buffoonery, nor wanton jesting, which are not meet: but rather giving of thanks.
5 Ngoba kuliqiniso ukuthi: Akulamuntu oyisixhwali, ongcolileyo loba oyisihwaba, umuntu onjalo ukhonza izithombe, olelifa embusweni kaKhristu lokaNkulunkulu.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, (who is an idolater, ) hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Lingavumi ukukhohliswa ngumuntu ngamazwi ayize ngoba ngenxa yezinto ezinje ulaka lukaNkulunkulu lwehlela phezu kwalabo abangalaleliyo.
Let no one deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Ngakho lingahlanganyeli labo.
Therefore be not partners with them.
8 Ngoba lake laba yibumnyama kodwa khathesi seliyikukhanya eNkosini. Philani njengabantwana bokukhanya
For ye were heretofore darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord:
9 (ngoba izithelo zokukhanya zikhona kubo bonke ubuhle lokulunga kanye leqiniso)
walk therefore as children of light, (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, )
10 lidinge okuthokozisa iNkosi.
approving what is well-pleasing to the Lord.
11 Lingahlanganyeli ezenzweni zobumnyama ezingelazithelo kodwa zichayeni sobala.
And have no communion with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 Ngoba kulihlazo lokukutsho nje okwenziwa yizigangi ensitha.
For it is a shame even to relate the things that are done by them in secret.
13 Kodwa konke okuvezwe obala yikukhanya kuyabonakala,
But all things to be reproved: are made manifest by the light: for whatever doth make manifest, is light.
14 ngoba yikukhanya okwenza izinto zonke zibonakale. Yikho-nje kuthiwa: “Phaphama, wena oleleyo, vuka kwabafileyo, uKhristu uzakhanya kuwe.”
Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 Ngakho-ke, qaphelani kakhulu ukuba liphila njani, kungabi njengezithutha kodwa njengabahlakaniphileyo,
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise men:
16 liwasebenzise ngokupheleleyo amathuba wonke ngoba insuku zimbi.
redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Ngakho-ke, lingabi yiziwula kodwa qedisisani ukuthi intando kaThixo iyini.
Wherefore be not thoughtless, but consider what is the will of the Lord.
18 Lingadakwa liwayini okuthungamela ekoneni. Kodwa gcwaliswani ngoMoya,
And be not drunk with wine, in which there is riotous excess; but be filled with the Spirit:
19 likhulumisana omunye komunye ngamahubo, amaculo kanye lezingoma zakoMoya. Hlabelani lenzele iNkosi imiculo ezinhliziyweni zenu
speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord:
20 limbonge kokuphela uNkulunkulu uBaba kukho konke, ngebizo leNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu.
always giving thanks for all to God even the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Zehliseni omunye komunye lihlonipha uKhristu.
submitting yourselves to each other in the fear of God.
22 Bafazi, zehliseni kubomkenu njengaseNkosini.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord:
23 Ngoba indoda yinhloko yomfazi njengoKhristu eyinhloko yebandla elingumzimba wakhe, yena onguMsindisi walo.
for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and the saviour of that body.
24 Ngakho njengebandla lizehlisa kuKhristu ngokunjalo abesifazane kumele bazehlise kubomkabo ezintweni zonke.
As the church then is subject to Christ, so also should wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Madoda thandani omkenu njengoKhristu owathanda ibandla wazinikela ngenxa yalo
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave up Himself for it:
26 ukuba alenze libengcwele, elihlambulula ngokuligezisa ngamanzi esebenzisa ilizwi,
to sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 kanye lokulethula kuye njengebandla elilenkazimulo, elingelasici loba ukuba mxhilibane kumbe esinye nje isici kodwa lingcwele njalo lingelacala.
that He might prepare it for Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and unblameable.
28 Ngokunjalo, amadoda kumele athande omkawo njengemizimba yawo. Lowo othanda umkakhe uyazithanda yena ngokwakhe.
Men ought so to love their wives, as their own bodies: he that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
29 Belo, kakho owake wazonda umzimba wakhe kodwa uwunika ukudla awulondoloze njengokwenziwa nguKhristu ebandleni,
For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord also doth the church:
30 ngoba thina siyizitho zomzimba wakhe.
for we are members of his body, as if taken out of his flesh, and of his bones, as Eve was out of Adam's.
31 “Ngenxa yalokhu indoda izatshiya uyise lonina ihlanganiswe lomkayo njalo ababili laba bazakuba nyamanye.”
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 Le yimfihlakalo enkulu kodwa mina ngikhuluma ngoKhristu lebandla.
This mystery is great: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church.
33 Kodwa omunye lomunye wenu laye kathande umkakhe njengoba ezithanda, lomfazi kumele ahloniphe indoda yakhe.
Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and let the wife reverence her husband.
