1 Bonke abangaphansi kwejogwe lobugqili kumele bakhangele amakhosi abo ngokuthi afanele ukuhlonitshwa ukuze ibizo likaNkulunkulu kanye lokufundisa kwethu kungadunyazwa.

As many as are servants under a yoke, let them reckon their own masters worthy of all honor, that evil may not be spoken of the Name of God and the teaching;

2 Labo abalamakhosi akholwayo kabangawadeleli ngoba angabazalwane. Kodwa kabawasebenzele ngcono kakhulu ngoba labo abasizakala ngokubasebenzela kwabo ngabakholwayo labathandekayo kubo. Lezi yizinto okumele uzifundise njalo uzigcizelele.

and those having believing masters, do not let them slight [them], because they are brothers, but rather let them serve, because they are steadfast and beloved, who are partaking of the benefit. Be teaching and exhorting these things;

3 Nxa umuntu efundisa imfundiso yamanga njalo engawuvumi umlayo oqotho weNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu lemfundiso yokwesaba uNkulunkulu,

if anyone be teaching otherwise, and does not consent to sound words—those of our Lord Jesus Christ—and to the teaching according to piety,

4 uyazikhukhumeza njalo akulalutho aluzwisisayo. Ulezifiso ezimbi enkanini lasekuphikisaneni ngamazwi okudala umona, lombango, lezinkulumo ezilimazayo, ukucabangelana okubi

he is proud, knowing nothing, but unhealthy about questions and word-striving, out of which come envy, strife, slanders, evil-surmisings,

5 kanye lokuxabana kokuphela kwabantu abalengqondo ezixhwalileyo, asebalahlekelwa liqiniso labacabanga ukuthi ukulalela uNkulunkulu kuyindlela yokuzuza imali.

wranglings of men wholly corrupted in mind, and destitute of the truth, supposing the piety to be gain; depart from such;

6 Kodwa-ke, ukulalela uNkulunkulu ngokusuthiseka kuyinzuzo enkulu.

but it is great gain—the piety with contentment;

7 Ngoba akulalutho esalulethayo emhlabeni njalo akulalutho esingasuka lalo kuwo.

for we brought nothing into the world—because neither are we able to carry out anything;

8 Kodwa nxa silokudla lezigqoko kumele sisuthiseke ngalokho.

but having food and raiment—with these we will suffice ourselves;

9 Abantu abafuna ukunotha bawela ezilingweni lasemijibileni lasezinkanukweni ezinengi zobuthutha ezilimazayo leziwisela abantu ekufeni lasekubhujisweni.

and those intending to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many desires, foolish and hurtful, that sink men into ruin and destruction,

10 Ngoba ukuthanda imali kuyimpande yezinhlobo zonke zobubi. Abanye abantu ngokutshisekela imali baphambuka ekukholweni bazibangele insizi ezinengi.

for the love of money is a root of all the evils, which certain [ones] longing for went astray from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows;

11 Kodwa wena muntu kaNkulunkulu, kubalekele konke lokhu ufune ukulunga lokulalela uNkulunkulu, lokukholwa, lothando, lokubekezela kanye lobumnene.

and you, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness.

12 Ilwa ukulwa okuhle kokukholwa. Bambelela ekuphileni okulaphakade owabizelwa kukho ekuvumeni kwakho okuhle owakwenza kulabafakazi abanengi. (aiōnios g166)

Be striving the good strife of the faith; be laying hold on the continuous life to which you also were called, and did profess the right profession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)

13 Phambi kukaNkulunkulu onika izinto zonke ukuphila laphambi kukaKhristu uJesu owathi efakaza phambi kukaPhontiyasi Philathu wenza ukuvuma okuhle, ngiyakulaya

I charge you, before God, who is making all things alive, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the right profession before Pontius Pilate,

14 ukuba ugcine umlayo lo kungelasici loba ukusoleka kuze kube sekubonakaleni kweNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu,

that you keep the command unspotted, unblameable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 okuzalethwa nguNkulunkulu ngesikhathi sakhe, uNkulunkulu obusisekileyo njalo onguye uMbusi kuphela, iNkosi yamakhosi loMbusi wababusi,

which He will show in His own times—the blessed and only sovereign, the King of the kings and Lord of the lords,

16 onguye kuphela ongafiyo lohlala ekukhanyeni okungafinyelelekiyo, okungekho owake wambona loba ongambona. Udumo lamandla akube kuye kuze kube laphakade. Ameni. (aiōnios g166)

having immortality alone, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one of men saw, nor is able to see, to whom [is] honor and perpetual might! Amen. (aiōnios g166)

17 Balaye labo abanothileyo kulo umhlaba wakhathesi ukuba bangazikhukhumezi loba babeke ithemba labo enothweni engathembekanga kodwa ukuba babeke ithemba labo kuNkulunkulu osinika kakhulu konke okwentokozo yethu. (aiōn g165)

Charge those rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who is giving to us all things richly for enjoyment— (aiōn g165)

18 Balaye ukuba benze okuhle, bande ngezenzo ezinhle, baphane njalo bathande ukwaba okungokwabo.

to do good, to be rich in good works, to be ready to impart, willing to communicate,

19 Ngalokhu-ke, bazazibekela inotho njengesisekelo esiqinileyo sesizukulwane esizayo ukuze babambe ukuphila okuyikuphila okuqotho.

treasuring up to themselves a right foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on [that which is] truly life.

20 Thimothi, londoloza lokho okuphathisiweyo. Xwaya inkulumo zokweyisa uNkulunkulu, lemibono ephikisana leqiniso ebizwa ngokuthi lulwazi,

O Timotheus, guard the thing entrusted, avoiding the profane vain-words and opposition of the falsely-named knowledge,

21 njalo abanye sebekuvumile, bathi ngokwenza njalo baphambuka ekukholweni. Umusa kawube kuwe.

which certain [ones] professing—swerved concerning the faith. The grace [is] with you! Amen.
