1 Ungamkhuzi ngolaka umuntu omdala kodwa mncenge ngokungathi nguyihlo. Amajaha aphathe njengabafowenu,
Rebuke not an elder, but implore him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
2 abesifazane abadala njengonyoko, abesifazane abatsha njengodadewenu ngokuhlambuluka okupheleleyo.
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 Woba lonanzelelo olufaneleyo kubafelokazi abaswelayo kakhulu.
Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 Kodwa nxa umfelokazi elabantwana kumbe abazukulu, kumele bafunde kuqala kulakho konke ukusebenzisa ukholo lwabo ngokukhathalela abendlu yakwabo langokusiza abazali babo labazali babazali babo ngoba lokhu kuyamthokozisa uNkulunkulu.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 Umfelokazi oswelayo kakhulu njalo esele eyedwa ubeka ithemba lakhe kuNkulunkulu njalo uqhubeka ebusuku lemini ekhuleka ecela usizo kuNkulunkulu.
Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusts in God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 Kodwa umfelokazi ophilela intokozo ufile lanxa esaphila.
But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.
7 Banike labo abantu izeluleko lezi ukuze angabikhona ongasoleka.
And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 Nxa umuntu enganakekeli izihlobo zakhe ikakhulu abendlu yakwabo, uselulahlile ukholo lwakhe njalo mubi kakhulu kulongakholwayo.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 Akulamfelokazi ozabekwa eluhlwini lwabafelokazi ngaphandle kokuba eseleminyaka edlula engamatshumi ayisithupha, obengokade ethembekile kumkakhe
Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
10 njalo edumile ngezenzo zakhe ezinhle, ezinjengokondla abantwana, lokuphatha kuhle izihambi, lokugezisa inyawo zabangcwele, lokusiza abahluphekayo kanye lokuzinikela kuzozonke izenzo ezinhle.
Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 Abafelokazi abasesebatsha ungababeki eluhlwini olunjalo. Ngoba lapho izinkanuko zabo zomzimba sezikhulela ukuzinikela kwabo kuKhristu bafuna ukwenda.
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 Ngalokho-ke, bazilethela ukwahlulelwa phezu kwabo ngoba bephule isithembiso sabo sokuqala.
Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 Langaphandle kwalokho, basuka babe lomkhuba wokuvilapha batshone benquma ngemizi. Njalo kababi ngamavila nje kuphela kodwa bangabanyeyayo labathandi bezindaba zabanye besitsho izinto okungafanelanga bazitsho.
And likewise they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but gossiping also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 Ngakho, abafelokazi abasesebatsha ngibacebisa ukuba bende, babelabantwana, baphathe izindlu zabo njalo banganiki isitha ithuba lokuba kube lokuhleba.
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 Abanye bavele sebedukile balandela uSathane.
For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 Nxa umuntu okholwayo elabafelokazi emzini wakhe, kumele abasize hatshi ukuyekela besinda ibandla ukuze ibandla lisize abafelokazi abaswela kakhulu.
If any man or woman that believes have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 Abadala abaqhuba kuhle imisebenzi yebandla bafanele ukuhlonitshwa okuphindiweyo ikakhulu labo abasebenza ukutshumayela lokufundisa.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word (logos) and doctrine.
18 Ngoba umbhalo uthi: “Inkabi ungayifaki isayeke nxa ibhula amabele,” njalo uthi, “Isisebenzi sifanele umholo waso.”
For the scripture says, You shall not suppress the ox that treads out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 Ungalamukeli icala eletheswa umuntu omdala ngaphandle kokuba limangalwa ngabafakazi ababili loba abathathu.
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 Abenza izono kumele bakhuzwe phambi kwabantu ukuze labanye baxwayiseke.
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 Ngiyakulaya phambi kukaNkulunkulu loKhristu uJesu lezingilosi ezikhethiweyo ukuba ugcine iziqondiso lezi kungekho bandlululo njalo ungenzi lutho ngokukhetha.
I charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that you observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Ungaphangisi ukubeka izandla emuntwini njalo ungahlanganyeli ezonweni zabanye. Zigcine uhlambulukile.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.
23 Yekela ukunatha amanzi kuphela kodwa sebenzisa lewayini elincinyane ngenxa yesisu sakho lokuhlala kwakho ugula.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your often infirmities.
24 Izono zabanye abantu zisobala, zifika endaweni yokwahlulela kuqala kulabo; kodwa abanye ezabo izono zilandela ngemva kwabo.
Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Ngokufanayo, izenzo ezinhle zisobala njalo lalezo ezingenjalo azingeke zihlale zifihliwe.
Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
