1 Amakhosi 15
1 Ngomnyaka wetshumi lasificaminwembili wokubusa kukaJerobhowamu indodana kaNebhathi, u-Abhija waba yinkosi yakoJuda,
Now, in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, began Abijah to reign over Judah.
2 njalo wabusa eJerusalema okweminyaka emithathu. Ibizo likanina lalinguMahakha indodakazi ka-Abhisalomu.
Three years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.
3 Wenza zonke izono ezazisenziwa nguyise, inhliziyo yakhe yayingekho ekukhonzeni uThixo uNkulunkulu wakhe, inganjengenhliziyo kaDavida ukhokho wakhe.
And he walked in all the sins of his father which he had done before him, —and his heart was not blameless with Yahweh his God, like the heart of David his father.
4 Kungenani, ngenxa kaDavida uThixo uNkulunkulu wamnika isibane eJerusalema ngokuveza indodana eyayizathatha isihlalo sakhe langokuqinisa iJerusalema.
But, for the sake of David, did Yahweh his God give him a lamp, in Jerusalem, —by raising up a son of his after him, and by suffering Jerusalem to stand;
5 UDavida wayekwenzile konke okufaneleyo emehlweni kaThixo njalo kehlulekanga ukugcina imilayo kaThixo kuzozonke insuku zokuphila kwakhe ngaphandle kwendaba ka-Uriya umHithi.
because David did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him, all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
6 Kwaba lempi phakathi kukaRehobhowami loJerobhowamu ngasosonke isikhathi sokuphila kuka-Abhija.
And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, all the days of his life.
7 Okunye okumayelana lombuso ka-Abhija, lakho konke akwenzayo, akulotshwanga yini egwalweni lwembali yamakhosi akoJuda? Kwaba lempi phakathi kuka-Abhija loJerobhowamu.
Now, the rest of the story of Abijah and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? And there was, war, between Abijah and Jeroboam.
8 U-Abhija waphumula laboyise wangcwatshwa emzini kaDavida. U-Asa indodana yakhe wathatha ubukhosi bukayise.
So then Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, —and, Asa his son, reigned, in his stead.
9 Ngomnyaka wamatshumi amabili okubusa kukaJerobhowamu inkosi yako-Israyeli, u-Asa waba yinkosi yakoJuda,
Now, in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, began Asa to reign as king of Judah;
10 wabusa eJerusalema okweminyaka engamatshumi amane lowodwa. Ibizo likagogo wakhe lalinguMahakha indodakazi ka-Abhisalomu.
and, forty-one years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Maachah, daughter of Abishalom.
11 U-Asa wenza okubukekayo phambi kukaThixo, njengalokhu okwakwenziwe nguDavida uyise.
And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —like David his father;
12 Waxotsha abesilisa ababefeba ngokwenzana abafazi, wadiliza zonke izithombe ezazakhiwe ngoyise.
and he put away the male devotees out of the land, —and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
13 Waze waxotsha kanye logogo wakhe uMahakha wamsusa esihlalweni sokuba yindlovukazi yomndlunkulu, ngoba wayebumbe isithombe esilihlazo sika-Ashera. U-Asa wasidilizela phansi lesisithombe wayasitshisela eSigodini saseKhidironi.
Moreover also, even Maachah his mother, he removed from being queen, because she had made a monstrous thing to the Sacred Stem, —and Asa cut down her monstrous thing and burned it in the Kidron ravine.
14 Noma engadilizanga izindawo eziphakemeyo zokukhonzela, inhliziyo ka-Asa yayinamathele kuThixo impilo yakhe yonke.
But, the high places, removed he not, —nevertheless, the heart of Asa, was blameless with Yahweh, all his days.
15 Waletha ethempelini likaThixo isiliva legolide lonke uyise kanye laye ababekunikele lezinye impahla.
And he brought in the hallowed things of his father, and his own hallowed things, into the house of Yahweh, —silver and gold, and vessels.
16 Kwaba lempi phakathi kuka-Asa loBhasha inkosi yako-Israyeli ekubuseni kwabo bonke.
And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.
17 UBhasha inkosi yako-Israyeli waqophana loJuda wasesakha umuzi weRama ukuvimbela loba ngubani owayezama ukuphuma loba ukungena elizweni lika-Asa inkosi yakoJuda.
And Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, —so as not to suffer any one to come out or go in unto Asa king of Judah.
18 U-Asa wasethatha isiliva sonke legolide elalisele eziphaleni zokuligugu ethempelini likaThixo lokwakusesigodlweni sakhe. Wakubeka ezandleni zezikhulu zakhe wazithumela kuBheni-Hadadi indodana kaThabhrimoni, oyindodana kaHeziyoni, inkosi yase-Aramu, owayebusa eDamaseko.
So Asa took all the silver and the gold, that were left in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, and delivered them into the hand of his servants, —and King Asa sent them unto Ben-hadad, son of Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying:
19 “Akubekhona ubudlelwano phakathi kwami lawe,” watsho, eqhubeka wathi, “njengoba kwakunjalo phakathi kukayihlo lobaba. Khangela ngikuthumela izipho zesiliva legolide. Wena quma ubudlelwano bakho loBhasha inkosi yako-Israyeli yikho ezaphuma elizweni lami.”
[Let there be a] covenant between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father: Lo! I have sent thee a gift, silver and gold, Come break thy covenant with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may go up from against me.
20 UBheni-Hadadi wavumelana lenkosi u-Asa wasethumela abalawuli bamabutho akhe ukuyahlasela amadolobho ako-Israyeli. Wanqoba ele-Ijoni, eleDani, ele-Abheli-Bhethi-Mahakha lalo lonke elaseKhinerethi kanye leNafithali.
So Ben-hadad hearkened unto King Asa, and sent the generals of the forces which he had, against the cities of Israel, and smote Iyyohn [Ijon], and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, —and all Chinneroth, against all the land of Naphtali.
21 UBhasha wathi ekuzwa lokhu, wema ukwakha iRama wasehlehlela eThiza.
And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, he left off building Ramah, —and returned to Tirzah.
22 Inkosi u-Asa yaquma ukuthi kungasali muntu kulolonke elakoJuda. Basebethutha eRama bethwala amatshe lamapulanka ayekade esetshenziswa nguBhasha kuleyondawo. Ngalokho inkosi u-Asa yakha iGebha kwelakoBhenjamini, leMizipha.
And, King Asa, published it unto all Judah, none was exempted, so they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the beams thereof, wherewith Baasha had built, —and King Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23 Konke okumayelana lombuso ka-Asa, lalokho anqoba kikho, lamadolobho wonke ayewakhile, akulotshwanga na egwalweni lwembali yamakhosi akoJuda? Kodwa-ke, ekuluphaleni kwakhe, waba lomkhuhlane ezinyaweni zakhe.
Now, the rest of all the story of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did and the cities which he built, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? Howbeit, in the time of his old age, he was diseased in his feet.
24 Ngakho u-Asa waya ekuphumuleni wangcwatshwa laboyise emzini kayise uDavida. Kwathi indodana yakhe uJehoshafathi wathatha isihlalo sakhe sobukhosi.
So then Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers, in the city of David his father, —and, Jehoshaphat his son, reigned, in his stead.
25 UNadabi indodana kaJerobhowamu waba yinkosi yabako-Israyeli ngomnyaka wesibili ka-Asa inkosi yakoJuda, njalo wabusa abako-Israyeli okweminyaka emibili.
Now, Nadab son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel, in the second year of Asa king of Judah, —and he reigned over Israel, two years.
26 Wona wenza okubi emehlweni kaThixo, wahamba ngendlela kayise lasezonweni zakhe, lezo ezazibangele ukuthi u-Israyeli angene kuzo adale isono.
And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin, wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.
27 UBhasha indodana ka-Ahija owendlu ka-Isakhari waceba ukumbulala. Wambulala eGibhethoni elinye lamadolobho amaFilistiya, ngesikhathi uNadabi labo bonke abako-Israyeli belihanqile.
And Baasha son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him, and Baasha smote him in Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, —Nadab and all Israel being in siege against Gibbethon.
28 UBhasha wabulala uNadabi ngomnyaka wesithathu wombuso ka-Asa inkosi yakoJuda wasehlala esihlalweni sakhe sobukhosi.
And Baasha slew him, in the third year of Asa king of Judah, —and reigned in his stead.
29 Waqalisa ukubusa wahle wabulala bonke abendlu kaJerobhowamu. Kazange atshiyele uJerobhowamu loyedwa kodwa wabhubhisa bonke elandela ilizwi likaThixo eleza lenceku yakhe u-Ahija waseShilo
And it came to pass, when he became king, that he smote all the house of Jeroboam, he left not remaining any breathing thing pertaining to Jeroboam, until he had destroyed him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:
30 ngenxa yezono zikaJerobhowamu ayezenzile njalo enguye owabangela ukuthi u-Israyeli one, ngoba wathukuthelisa uThixo, uNkulunkulu ka-Israyeli.
for the sins of Jeroboam which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit, —by his provocation wherewith he provoked to anger Yahweh God of Israel.
31 Ezinye izehlakalo ekubuseni kukaNadabi, lakho konke akwenzayo, akulotshwanga na egwalweni lwembali yamakhosi ako-Israyeli?
Now, the rest of the story of Nadab, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
32 Kwaba lempi phakathi kuka-Asa loBhasha inkosi yako-Israyeli ngesikhathi sonke sokubusa kwabo.
And there was, war, between Asa and Baasha king of Israel, all their days.
33 Ngomnyaka wesithathu ka-Asa inkosi yakoJuda, uBhasha indodana ka-Ahija waba yinkosi yalo lonke elako-Israyeli laseThiza, njalo wabusa iminyaka engamatshumi amabili lane.
In the third year of Asa king of Judah, began Baasha, son of Ahijah, to reign over all Israel, in Tirzah, [and he reigned] twenty-four years.
34 Wona phambi kukaThixo, wahamba ngendlela kaJerobhowamu lezono zakhe, lezo abangela u-Israyeli ukuthi azenze.
And he did that which was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he caused, Israel, to sin.
