1 Nxa owakini elombango lomunye uyahamba ayemangalela kwabangakholwayo endaweni yokuya kwabakholwayo na?

Doth any one of you, who hath a matter against another, dare to go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the holy?

2 Kalazi yini ukuthi abantu bakaNkulunkulu bazakwahlulela umhlaba na? Nxa lizakwahlulela umhlaba, kalenelisi ukwahlulela amacala amancane na?

Or do ye not know, that the holy will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge in causes of the least importance?

3 Kalazi yini ukuthi sizakwahlulela izingilosi? Pho sizakwehlulwa yini ukwahlulela izindaba zalimpilo!

Know ye not, that we shall pass judgment upon angels? How much more, concerning affairs of this life?

4 Ngakho-ke, nxa lilemibango yezindaba ezinje, lidinga ukwahlulelwa ngabantu abalempilo ezisolekayo ebandleni na?

If then ye have any causes relating to this life, set them to judge who are of no repute in the church.

5 Ngitsho lokhu ukuze libelenhloni. Kungenzakala yini ukuthi akulamuntu phakathi kwenu ohlakaniphe okwaneleyo ukuba ahlulele umbango phakathi kwabazalwane na?

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not one that will be able to judge between his brethren?

6 Kodwa esikhundleni salokho, omunye umzalwane uya emthethweni ukuyamangalela omunye, njalo lokhu ekwenza phambi kwabangakholwayo!

Nay, brother goeth to law with brother, and that before unbelievers.

7 Khona lokhu ukuthi impela kulokumangalelana phakathi kwenu kutsho ukuba selehlulwe ngokupheleleyo. Kakungcono yini ukwamukela ukoniwa? Kakungcono yini ukwamukela ukuqilibezelwa?

Now therefore it is altogether an evil among you, that ye have suits against each other. Why do ye not rather submit to wrong? Why do ye not rather allow yourselves to be defrauded?

8 Esikhundleni salokho, lina ngokwenu liyaqilibezela njalo lone, futhi lokhu likwenza kubazalwane benu.

But ye yourselves wrong, and defraud, and that too your brethren.

9 Kalazi yini ukuthi abonayo kabayikuba zindlalifa zombuso kaNkulunkulu? Lingakhohliswa. Akulazifebe ezixhwalileyo loba abakhonza izithombe kumbe iziphingi loba izitabane

Know ye not, that wrongdoers shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 kumbe amasela loba izihwaba kumbe izidakwa loba abanyeyayo kumbe amaqili azakudla ilifa lombuso kaNkulunkulu.

nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 Njalo lokho yikho abanye benu ababeyikho. Kodwa selageziswa, selangcweliswa, selalungiswa ngebizo leNkosi uJesu Khristu langoMoya kaNkulunkulu wethu.

And such were some of you; but ye were washed, but ye were made holy, but ye were accepted as righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.

12 Lithi “Ngilelungelo lokwenza loba yini,” kodwa akusikho konke okusizayo. “Ngilelungelo lokwenza loba yini” kodwa angiyikubuswa lutho.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not profitable; all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything.

13 Lithi “Ukudla kwesisu lesisu sokudla, kodwa uNkulunkulu uzakuchitha kokubili.” Umzimba kawusiwokuhlobonga, kodwa ngoweNkosi, leNkosi ngeyomzimba.

Meats are for the stomach, and the stomach for meats; but God will make an end of both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body;

14 Ngamandla akhe uNkulunkulu wayivusa kwabafileyo iNkosi, lathi futhi uzasivusa.

and God both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his power.

15 Kalazi yini ukuthi imizimba yenu iyizitho zikaKhristu uqobo na? Kambe ngingathatha izitho zikaKhristu ngizihlanganise lesiphingi na? Hatshi!

Know ye not, that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid!

16 Kalazi yini ukuthi lowo ozihlanganise lesiphingi uba munye laso emzimbeni? Ngoba kuthiwa, “Labo ababili bazakuba nyamanye.”

Know ye not, that he who is connected with a harlot is one body with her? “For the two,” saith he, “shall become one flesh;”

17 Kodwa lowo ozihlanganisa leNkosi munye layo emoyeni.

but he that is connected with the Lord is one spirit with him.

18 Balekelani ukuhlobonga. Zonke ezinye izono umuntu azenzayo zingaphandle komzimba wakhe, kodwa lowo owenza isono sobufebe wenza isono emzimbeni wakhe.

Flee fornication. Every other sin which a man may commit, is apart from the body; but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his own body.

19 Kalazi yini ukuthi umzimba wenu ulithempeli likaMoya oNgcwele, ophakathi kwenu, elamamukela kuNkulunkulu na? Kalisibo benu,

Know ye not, that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God, and that ye are not your own?

20 lathengwa ngentengo. Ngakho-ke, dumisani uNkulunkulu ngemizimba yenu.

For ye were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
