1 Ngokuqhubeka kwesikhathi uDavida wahlasela amaFilistiya wawanqoba, wathumba iGathi lemizana eseduzane layo eyayiphethwe ngamaFilistiya.

And it came to pass after this, that David smote the Philistines, and humbled them; and he took Gath and its dependent towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 UDavida wanqoba njalo amaMowabi aba ngaphansi kwakhe athela kuye.

And he smote Moab, and the Moabites became David's servants, bringing presents.

3 Kanti njalo, uDavida walwa loHadadezeri inkosi yaseZobha, kwaze kwafika eHamathi, esiyamisa umbuso wakhe emangweni olandela uMfula iYufrathe.

David also smote Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah, at Chamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the river Euphrates.

4 UDavida wathumba izinqola zakhe zokulwa eziyinkulungwane, abatshayeli bazo abazinkulungwane eziyisikhombisa lamabutho ahamba phansi azinkulungwane ezingamatshumi amabili. Wawaquma imisila wonke amabhiza ezinqola zokulwa kwasala alikhulu kuphela.

And David captured from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand men on foot; and David hamstringed all the chariot-teams, but reserved of them a hundred chariot-teams.

5 Kwathi ama-Aramu aseDamaseko ezoncedisa uHadadezeri inkosi yaseZobha, uDavida wawatshaya wawabhuqa ama-Aramu kwafa azinkulungwane ezingamakhulu amabili lambili.

And the Syrians of Damascus came to aid Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah, when David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

6 Wenza izinqaba e-Aramu embusweni waseDamaseko, ama-Aramu aba ngaphansi kombuso wakhe athela kuye. UThixo wanika uDavida ukunqoba kuzozonke izindawo ayezihlasela.

Then did David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became unto David servants, bringing presents. And the Lord helped David withersoever he went.

7 UDavida wathatha amahawu egolide ayephethwe yizikhulu zikaHadadezeri wawathwalela eJerusalema.

And David took the quivers of gold that were on the servants of Hadar'ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 Kusukela eThebha laseKhuni, imizi eyayingekaHadadezeri, uDavida wathatha khona ithusi elinengi kakhulu, lelo uSolomoni enza ngalo uLwandle lwethusi, izinsika lezinye impahla ezabunjwa ngethusi.

And from Tibchath, and from Kun, cities of Hadar'ezer, did David take exceedingly much copper; thereof made Solomon the copper sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of copper.

9 Kuthe lapho Towu inkosi yaseHamathi isizwe ukuthi uDavida usenqobe lonke ibutho likaHadadezeri inkosi yaseZobha,

And when To'u the king of Chamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah:

10 wathumela indodana yakhe uHadoramu enkosini uDavida ukuthi iyembingelela emenzela amhlophe ngokunqoba uHadadezeri owayekade esilwa impi loTowu. UHadoramu wayethwele imihlobohlobo yezimpahla zegolide lesiliva kanye lezethusi.

Then did he send Hadoram his son unto king David, to ask him after his well-being, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadar'ezer, and smitten him: for Hadar'ezer had been engaged in wars with To'u; and [he had with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and copper.

11 Inkosi uDavida yazahlukanisela kuThixo, lezo zinto njengalokho eyayikwenze impahla zegolide lesiliva ezazithunjwe kulezozizwe zama-Edomi lamaMowabi, lama-Amoni, lamaFilistiya lama-Amaleki.

Also these did king David sanctify unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he had carried away from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from 'Amalek.

12 U-Abhishayi indodana kaZeruya watshaya wabhuqa ama-Edomi azinkulungwane ezilitshumi lasificaminwembili eSigodini seTswayi.

And Abshai the son of Zeruyah smote of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand [men].

13 Wabeka inkamba zamabutho okulinda e-Edomi, bonke abase-Edomi babangaphansi kombuso kaDavida. UThixo wapha uDavida ukunqoba kuzozonke izindawo ayesiya kuzo.

And he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants unto David. And the Lord helped David withersoever he went.

14 UDavida wabusa kulolonke elako-Israyeli, esenza okuqondileyo lokulungele abantu bakhe bonke.

And David reigned over all Israel, and he did what is just and right unto all his people.

15 UJowabi indodana kaZeruya wayephethe amabutho; uJehoshafathi indodana ka-Ahiludi engumlobi,

And Joab the son of Zeruyah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Achilud, recorder.

16 uZadokhi indodana ka-Ahithubi lo-Ahimeleki indodana ka-Abhiyathari babengabaphristi; uShavisha wayengumabhalane;

And Zadok the son of Achitub, and Abimelech the son of Ebyathar, were [the] priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

17 uBhenaya indodana kaJehoyada wayephethe amaKherethi lamaPhelethi, lamadodana kaDavida ayeyizikhulu ayeseduzane lenkosi embusweni.

And Benayahu the son of Jehoyada' was over the Kerethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were the first at the side of the king.
