Matei 3
1 Gene mobhago gubhakoposhele a Yowana bhaabhatisha, bhalilunguya kuanga ja ku Yudea,
And in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea
2 bhalinkuti, “Mwiipetanje, pabha Upalume gwa Kunnungu ubhandishile.”
and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
3 Bhenebha a Yowana bhalugwilwe na ankulondola bha a Nnungu a Ishaya bhalinkuti, “Lilobhe lika mundu linapilikanika kuanga, ‘Mwaalashiyanje Bhakulungwa mpanda gwabho, Nngoloyanje mushibhapite.’”
For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'"
4 A Yowana shibhawalaga shiwalo sha mabhetya ga ngamia, na nshipi gwa lipende nshigunu. Shalya shabho pushaaliji maije na bhushi gwa mukonde.
Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
5 Bhai, bhandunji kukoposhela ku Yelushalemu na nkowa gowe gwa ku Yudea na ilambo yowe ya nnyenje lushi lwa Yolodani, gubhaajendelenje.
Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him,
6 Bhakaipetanjeje yambi yabhonji na bhalabho gubhaabhatishenje mmashi ga lushi lwa Yolodani.
and they were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.
7 Ikabheje a Yowana bhakaabhonanjeje Mapalishayo na Mashadukayo bhabhagwinji bhalikwaajiilanga nkupinga bhabhatishwanje, gubhaalugulilenje, “Mmanganya bhana bha lijoka! Gani ammalanjilenje nnjibhutukanje nnjimwa ja a Nnungu jikwiya?
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bhai nnanguyanje kwa itendi, kuti mwiipetilenje.
Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance,
9 Nnaganishiyanje mmitima jenunji kuti, ‘Uwe, ulongo gwa a Bhulaimu!’ Ngunakummalanjilanga kuti, a Nnungu bhanakombola kugayuya aga magangaga gabhe bha ulongo bha a Bhulaimu.
and do not think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
10 Na libhago libhishilwe tayali mmatepo ga mikongo, bhai kila nkongo ukaogoya iepo ya mmbone upinga shelwa nileshelwa pa moto.
"Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 Nne ngunakummatishanga kwa mashi kulangula kuti mwiipetilenje. Ikabheje bhene bhakwiya nnyuma jangubho bhashikola mashili kumbunda nne, numbe ngaatopela nkali jigala ilatu yabho. Bhenebho shibhammatishanje kwa Mbumu jwa Ukonjelo na moto.
I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire.
12 Bhenebho bhashikamula shipeta mmakono gabho nkupinga bhapete, ngano bhabhishe munngokwe na maashe bhajoshe pa moto gwangaimika.”
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."
13 Gene mobhago a Yeshu gubhaishe ku lushi lwa Yolodani kukoposhela ku Galilaya, gubhaajendele a Yowana nkupinga bhabhatishwe.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
14 Ikabheje a Yowana gubhalinjile kwaibhilila bhalinkuti, “Nne namwene ngunapinga bhatishwa na mmwe, pakuti nnanyiila nne?”
But John would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?"
15 Ikabheje a Yeshu gubhaajangwile, “Nnaino mmwe nneshepe ibhe nneyo, pabha inapinjikwa tutende yowe ibhaapinga a Nnungu.” Bhai, a Yowana gubhakundile.
But Jesus, answering, said to him, "Allow it to happen now, for this is the proper way for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him.
16 A Yeshu bhakabhatishweje gubhakopweshe mmashi, shangupe ku nnungu kukuugukaga, gubhammweni Mbumu jwa a Nnungu alituluka mbuti nnjubha nikwaatula panani jabho.
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water; and look, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
17 Lilobhe gulipilikanishe koposhela kunnungu, “Jweneju mwanangu jungumpinga annonyela.”
And look, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
