1 १ जेव्हा इस्राएल मिसरातून, याकोबाचे घराणे त्या परकी लोकांतून निघाले,

When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;

2 २ तेव्हा यहूदा त्याचे पवित्रस्थान झाला, इस्राएल त्याचे राज्य झाले.

Judah was his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.

3 ३ समुद्राने पाहिले आणि पळाला; यार्देन मागे हटली.

The sea saw [it], and fled: Jordan was driven back.

4 ४ पर्वतांनी मेंढ्यांसारख्या, टेकड्यांनी कोकरासारख्या उड्या मारल्या.

The mountains skipped like rams, [and] the little hills like lambs.

5 ५ हे समुद्रा, तू का पळून गेलास? यार्देने तू का मागे हटलीस?

What [ailed] thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, [that] thou wast driven back?

6 ६ पर्वतांनो, तुम्ही मेंढ्यांसारख्या का उड्या मारता? लहान टेकड्यांनो, तुम्ही कोकरासारख्या का उड्या मारता?

Ye mountains, [that] ye skipped like rams; [and] ye little hills, like lambs?

7 ७ हे पृथ्वी, तू प्रभूसमोर, याकोबाच्या देवासमोर थरथर काप.

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;

8 ८ तो खडक पाण्याच्या तळ्यात, कठीण खडक पाण्याच्या झऱ्यात बदलतो.

Which turned the rock [into] a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
