नीतिसूत्रे 10

1 १ ही शलमोनाची नितीसूत्रे आहेत. शहाणा मुलगा आपल्या वडिलांना सुखी करतो, पण मूर्ख मुलगा आपल्या आईला दु: खी करतो.

THE PARABLE OF SALOMON. A wise sonne maketh a glad father: but a foolish sonne is an heauines to his mother.

2 २ दुष्टाईने गोळा केलेली संपत्ती ही कवडी मोलाची असते. पण धार्मिकता मरणापासून दूर ठेवते.

The treasures of wickednesse profite nothing: but righteousnesse deliuereth from death.

3 ३ परमेश्वर चांगल्यांना भुकेले राहू देत नाही, परंतु तो वाईटाची कामना निष्फळ करतो.

The Lord will not famish the soule of the righteous: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

4 ४ आळशी हात मनुष्याच्या गरीबीस कारण होतात. पण उद्योग्याचा हात संपत्ती मिळवतो.

A slouthfull hand maketh poore: but the hand of the diligent maketh riche.

5 ५ उन्हाळ्यात जो मुलगा पीक जमा करतो तो शहाणा आहे, परंतु जो मुलगा हंगामात झोपतो त्यास ते लज्जास्पद आहे.

He that gathereth in sommer, is the sonne of wisdome: but he that sleepeth in haruest, is the sonne of confusion.

6 ६ नितीमानाच्या मस्तकी आशीर्वाद असतात, पण बलात्कार दुष्टाचे मुख झाकतो.

Blessings are vpon the head of the righteous: but iniquitie shall couer the mouth of the wicked.

7 ७ नितीमानाची जेव्हा आपण आठवण करतो, तेव्हा ते आपणास आनंदित करते; पण वाईट करणाऱ्याचे नाव नष्ट होते.

The memoriall of the iust shalbe blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rotte.

8 ८ जो समजदार आहे तो आज्ञा मान्य करतो, परंतु बडबड्या मूर्खाची अधोगती होते.

The wise in heart will receiue commandements: but the foolish in talke shalbe beaten.

9 ९ जो कोणी प्रामाणिकपणे चालतो तो सुरक्षितपणे चालतो, परंतु जो कोणी त्याचे मार्ग वाकडे करतो तो कळून येईल.

He that walketh vprightly, walketh boldely: but he that peruerteth his wayes, shalbe knowen.

10 १० जो कोणी डोळे मिचकावतो तो दुःखास कारण होतो, बडबड्या मूर्खाची अधोगती होते.

He that winketh with the eye, worketh sorowe, and he yet is foolish in talke, shalbe beaten.

11 ११ नितीमानाचे मुख जीवनाचा झरा आहे, परंतु बलात्कार दुष्टाचे मुख झाकतो.

The mouth of a righteous man is a welspring of life: but iniquitie couereth the mouth of the wicked.

12 १२ द्वेष भांडण उत्पन्न करतो; परंतु प्रीती सर्व अपराधांवर झाकण घालते.

Hatred stirreth vp contentions: but loue couereth all trespasses.

13 १३ विवेकशीलाच्या वाणीत ज्ञान सापडते, परंतु जो अक्कलशून्य असतो त्याच्या पाठीस काठीच योग्य आहे.

In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.

14 १४ शहाणे माणसे ज्ञान संग्रह करतात, परंतु मूर्खाचे मुख म्हणजे अरिष्ट जवळ आणते.

Wise men lay vp knowledge: but ye mouth of the foole is a present destruction.

15 १५ श्रीमंताची संपत्ती हे त्याचे बळकट नगर आहे; गरिबांचा नाश त्यांच्या दारिद्र्यात होतो.

The riche mans goodes are his strong citie: but the feare of the needie is their pouertie.

16 १६ नीतिमानाचे वेतन जीवनाकडे घेऊन जाणारे आहे; दुर्जनाचा फायदा त्यास पापाकडे घेऊन जाणारा आहे.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: but the reuenues of the wicked to sinne.

17 १७ जो कोणी शिस्तीचे अनुसरण करतो तो जीवनाच्या मार्गात आहे, पण जो दोषारोपाला नकार देतो तो चुकीच्या मार्गाने जातो.

He that regardeth instruction, is in the way of life: but he that refuseth correction, goeth out of the way.

18 १८ जो कोणी द्वेष लपवून ठेवतो तो लबाड ओठांचा आहे, आणि जो कोणी निंदा पसरवतो तो मूर्ख आहे.

He that dissembleth hatred with lying lips, and he that inuenteth slaunder, is a foole.

19 १९ जेव्हा पुष्कळ वाचाळता असते, तेथे पापाला कमतरता नाही, परंतु तो जे काही बोलतो ते काळजीपूर्वक आहे, तो सुज्ञ आहे.

In many wordes there cannot want iniquitie: but he that refrayneth his lippes, is wise.

20 २० जो कोणी चांगले करतो त्याची जिव्हा शुध्द रुप्यासारखी आहे; पण तेथे दुष्टाच्या हृदयात कवडी किंमत आहे.

The tongue of the iust man is as fined siluer: but the heart of the wicked is litle worth.

21 २१ नीतिमानाचे ओठ पुष्कळांचे पोषण करतात, पण मूर्ख मरतात कारण त्यांच्यात बुद्धीचा अभाव असतो.

The lippes of the righteous doe feede many: but fooles shall die for want of wisedome.

22 २२ परमेश्वराचे आशीर्वाद चांगली संपत्ती आणते, आणि त्यामध्ये तो अधिक दुःख देत नाही.

The blessing of the Lord, it maketh riche, and he doeth adde no sorowes with it.

23 २३ दुष्कर्म करणे मूर्खाला खेळ असे आहे, परंतु सुज्ञ मनुष्यास ज्ञानात आनंद आहे.

It is as a pastime to a foole to doe wickedly: but wisedome is vnderstanding to a man.

24 २४ दुष्ट ज्याला भितो ते त्याच्यावर येईल, पण नीतिमानाची इच्छा मान्य होईल.

That which the wicked feareth, shall come vpon him: but God wil graunt the desire of the righteous.

25 २५ दुष्ट वावटळीसारखे आहेत ती येऊन जाते आणि तसा तो नाहीसा होतो, पण जो चांगले करतो तो सर्वकाळ टिकणाऱ्या पायासारखा आहे.

As the whirlewinde passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is as an euerlasting foundation.

26 २६ जशी आंब दातांना आणि जसा धूर डोळ्यांना, तसा आळशी त्यास पाठवणाऱ्यांना आहे.

As vineger is to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the slouthful to them that send him.

27 २७ परमेश्वराचे भय आयुष्याचे दिवस वाढवते, पण दुष्टाचे वर्ष कमी होतील.

The feare of the Lord increaseth the dayes: but the yeeres of the wicked shalbe diminished.

28 २८ नीतिमानाची आशा त्यांचा आनंद होईल, पण दुष्टाची वर्षे कमी होतील.

The patient abiding of the righteous shall be gladnesse: but the hope of the wicked shall perish.

29 २९ जो कोणी प्रामाणिक आहे परमेश्वर त्याचे रक्षण करील, दुष्कर्म करणाऱ्यांना तो नाशकारक आहे.

The way of the Lord is strength to the vpright man: but feare shall be for the workers of iniquitie.

30 ३० नीतिमान कधीही उलथून टाकले जाणार नाहीत, परंतु दुष्ट देशात राहणार नाहीत.

The righteous shall neuer be remooued: but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.

31 ३१ नीतिमानाच्या मुखातून ज्ञानाचे फळ निघते, पण कपटी जीभ कापली जाईल.

The mouth of the iust shall be fruitfull in wisdome: but the tongue of the froward shall be cut out.

32 ३२ नीतिमानाला जे काही स्वीकारणीय ते त्यांच्या ओठास कळते, पण दुष्टाच्या मुखास, जे कुटिल बोलणे आहे ते समजते.

The lips of the righteous knowe what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh froward things.
