1 १ परमेश्वर मोशेशी बोलला. हे मवाबामधील यार्देनाच्या खोऱ्यात यरीहोसमोर यार्देन नदीजवळ घडले. परमेश्वर म्हणाला,
And the Lord spak these thingis to Moises, in the feeldi places of Moab, aboue Jordan,
2 २ इस्राएल लोकांस सांग की, त्यांनी त्यांच्या वतनातील काही नगरे लेवी लोकांस द्यावी. इस्राएल लोकांनी काही नगरे आणि त्याच्या आजूबाजूची कुरणे लेवी लोकांस द्यावी.
ayens Jericho, Comaunde thou to the sones of Israel, that thei yyue to dekenes of her possessiouns,
3 ३ लेवी लोक त्या नगरात राहतील आणि लेवी लोकांची कुरणे गाईबैल आणि शेरडेमेंढरे इत्यादी जनावरांसाठी असावीत.
citees to dwelle, and the suburbabis of tho bi cumpas, that thei dwelle in `the citees, and the suburbabis be to beestis, and `werk beestis;
whiche suburbabis schulen be strecchid forth fro the wallis of citees with outforth `bi cumpas, in the space of a thousynde paacis;
5 ५ नगरांच्या तटबंदी बाहेर पूर्व बाजूस दोन हजार हात, दोन हजार हात दक्षिणेला, दोन हजार हात पश्चिमेला आणि दोन हजार हात उत्तर बाजूस मोजावे. नगर मध्ये असावे.

And the citees schulen be in the myddis, and the suburbabis with outforth.
6 ६ त्यापैकी सहा शहरे शरणपुरे असतील. जर एखाद्या मनुष्याने चुकून कुणाला मारले तर तो मनुष्य संरक्षणासाठी त्या शहरात जाऊ शकतो. त्या सहा शहरांखेरीज आणखी बेचाळीस नगरे तुम्ही लेवींना द्या.
Forsothe of tho citees whiche ye schulen yyue to dekenes, sixe schulen be departid in to helpis of fugityues, `ether of fleynge men, that he that schedde blood, fle to tho; and outakun these sixe, ye schulen yyue to dekenes othere two and fourti citees,
that is, togidere eiyte and fourti, with her surburbabis.
8 ८ इस्राएलाच्या मोठ्या कुटुंबांना वतनाचे मोठे तुकडे मिळतील आणि लहान वतनातून कमी अशी द्यावीत. प्रत्येक वंशाने आपआपल्या वतनाच्या मानाने लेव्यांना नगरे द्यावी.

10 १० इस्राएलाच्या वंशाशी बोल, त्यांना या गोष्टी सांग, तुम्ही लोक यार्देन नदी पार करून कनानच्या प्रदेशात जाल.

11 ११ तेव्हा तुम्ही शरणपुरे निवडा. जर एखाद्याने चुकून कुणाला ठार मारले तर तो संरक्षणासाठी त्यापैकी एखाद्या शहरात जाऊ शकतो.

12 १२ आणि ती नगरे सूड घेणाऱ्यापासून आश्रयासाठी असावी. त्या मनुष्याचा न्याय होईपर्यंत तो तेथे सुरक्षित राहू शकतो.
In whiche whanne the fleere hath fled, the kynesman of hym that is slayn, schal not mow sle hym, til he stonde in the siyt of the multitude, and the cause of hym be demed.
Forsothe of tho citees that ben departid to the helpis of fugityues,
14 १४ यापैकी तीन शहरे यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेला असतील आणि तीन शहरे कनानाच्या प्रदेशात यार्देन नदीच्या पश्चिमेला असतील ती तुम्ही आश्रयाची नगरे म्हणून द्या.
thre schulen be ouer Jordan, and thre in the lond of Canaan;
15 १५ ही शहरे इस्राएलाच्या नागरिकांसाठी, परदेशी नागारिकासाठी आणि प्रवाशांसाठी शरणपुरे असतील. यांच्यापैकी कोणीही चुकून कुणाला ठार मारले तर ते संरक्षणसाठी या शहरात जाऊ शकतात.
as wel to the sones of Israel as to comelyngis and pilgryms; that he fle to tho citees, that schedde blood not wilfuli.
16 १६ जर एखादा मनुष्य कुणाला मारण्यासाठी लोखंडी शस्त्राचा उपयोग करत असेल तर त्याने मरण पावले पाहिजे.
If ony man smytith a man with yrun, and he that is smytun is deed, `the smyter schal be gilti of mansleyng, and he schal die.
17 १७ आणि जर एखाद्याने दगड घेऊन कुणाला मारले तर त्यानेसुध्दा मरण पावले पाहिजे. पण त्या दगडाचा आकार एखाद्याला मारण्यासाठी वापरण्यात येणाऱ्या दगडाएवढा असला पाहिजे.
If he castith a stoon, and a man is deed bi the strook, he schal be punyschid in lijk maner.
18 १८ आणि जर एखादा मनुष्य कुणाला मारण्यासाठी लाकडाच्या तुकड्याचा उपयोग करीत असेल तर तो मनुष्य सुद्धा मेला पाहीजे. हा लाकडाचा तुकडा म्हणजे सामान्यतः कोणाला तरी मारण्यासाठी उपयोगात आणतात तसे लाकडाचे शस्त्र असले पाहिजे.
If a man smytun with a staf dieth, he schal be vengid bi `the blood of the smytere.
The niy kynesman of hym that is slayn schal sle the mansleere; anoon as he takith hym, `that is, the manquellere, he schal sle hym.
20 २० मनुष्य एखाद्याला हाताने मारून सुद्धा ठार मारू शकतो. किंवा एखाद्याला ढकलून देऊन सुद्धा ठार मारू शकतो. किंवा कोणाला काही फेकून मारून सुद्धा त्यास ठार करु शकतो.
If bi haterede a man hurtlith, `ethir schoufith, `a man, ethir castith ony thing in to hym bi aspiyngis,
21 २१ जर कोणी ते हेतूपूर्वक द्वेषबुद्धीने केले असेल तर तो खुनी ठरतो. त्या मनुष्यास ठार मारलेच पाहिजे. मरण पावलेल्या मनुष्याच्या कुटुंबातील कोणीही त्या खुन्याचा पाठलाग करून त्यास मारु शकतो.

22 २२ एखादा मनुष्य अपघाताने दुसऱ्याला मारू शकेल. मरण पावलेल्या मनुष्याचा त्याने द्वेष केला नाही त्यास त्याने चुकून मारले असेल. किंवा त्याने एखादी वस्तू चुकून फेकली असेल आणि ती चुकून एखाद्याला लागून तो मेला तर त्याने ते विचारपूर्वक केले असे नाही.
That if bi sudeyn caas, and without hatrede and enemytees,
23 २३ किंवा एखाद्या मनुष्याने दगड फेकला आणि तो त्यास न दिसलेल्या मनुष्यास लागला व तो मेला तर त्या मनुष्याने योजनापूर्वक मारले असे नाही. तो मनुष्य मरण पावलेल्या मनुष्याचा द्वेष करत नव्हता. तो केवळ योगायोगाने मेला.

24 २४ जर असे घडले तर काय करायचे ते लोकांनी ठरवायचे. मरण पावलेल्या मनुष्याच्या कुटुंबातील एखादा मनुष्य त्यास मारु शकतो की नाही ते लोक न्यायालयाने ठरवायचे.
and this is preued in heryng `of the puple, and the questioun of blood is discussid bitwixe the smytere and the kynesman,
25 २५ जर लोकांनी खुन्याचे त्या कुटुंबापासून रक्षण कराचये असे ठरवले तर लोकांनी खुन्याला संरक्षक शहरात परत न्यावे आणि पवित्र तेलाने अभिषेक केलेला मुख्य याजक मरत नाही तोपर्यंत खुन्याने तिथेच रहावे.
the innocent schal be delyuered fro the hond of the vengere, and bi sentence of iugis he schal be led ayen in to the citee, to which he fledde, and he schal dwelle there, til the grete preest die, which is anoyntid with oile.
If the sleere is foundun with out the coostis `of the citees that ben asigned to exilid men,
27 २७ आणि आश्रयाच्या नगराच्या सीमेबाहेर मृत मनुष्याच्या कुटुंबाने त्यास पकडले आणि मारले तर त्या कुटुंबातील तो मनुष्य खुनाचा अपराधी ठरणार नाही.
and is slayn of him that is vengere, he that sleeth him, `that is, the exilid man, schal be with out gilt;
28 २८ एखाद्या मनुष्याने चुकून कोणाला मारले असेल तर त्याने मुख्य याजक मरेपर्यंत शरणपुरातच राहिले पाहिजे. मुख्य याजक मेल्यानंतर तो मनुष्य त्याच्या स्वत: च्या प्रदेशात जाऊ शकतो.
for the exilid man ouyte sitte in the citee `til to the `deth of the bischop; forsothe aftir that thilke bischop is deed, the mansleere schal turne ayen in to his lond.
These schulen be euerlastynge and lawful thingis in alle youre dwellyngis.
30 ३० मारणाऱ्याला मरणाची शिक्षा जर साक्षीदार असेल तरच दिली जाईल. जर एकच साक्षीदार असेल तर कोणालाही मरणाची शिक्षा दिली जाणार नाही.
A mansleere schal be punyschid vndur witnessis; no man schal `be dampned at the witnessyng of o man.
31 ३१ जर एखाद्या मनुष्यावर खुनाचा दोष असेल तर त्यास मारलेच पाहिजे. पैसे घेऊन त्याची शिक्षा बदलू नका, त्या खुन्याला आवश्य जीवे मारावे.
Ye schulen not take prijs of him which is gilti of blood, anoon and he schal die.
32 ३२ जर एखाद्याने कुणाला मारले आणि तो संरक्षक शहरात पळून गेला तर घरी जाण्यासाठी त्याच्याकडून पैसे घेऊ नका. मुख्य याजक मरेपर्यंत त्याने शरणापुरातच राहिले पाहिजे.

33 ३३ ज्या देशात तुम्ही रहाल तो भ्रष्ट करू नका. कारण खुनाने देश भ्रष्ट होतो आणि रक्तपात केल्याशिवाय देशाबद्दल म्हणजे त्या देशात झालेल्या रक्तपाताबद्दल प्रायश्चित होऊ शकत नाही.

34 ३४ मी परमेश्वर आहे. मी तुमच्या देशात इस्राएल लोकांबरोबर राहीन. मी तिथे राहणार आहे. म्हणून ती जागा निष्पाप लोकांच्या रक्ताने अशुद्ध करु नका.
And so youre possessioun schal be clensid, for Y schal dwelle with you; for Y am the Lord, that dwelle among the sones of Israel.
