शास्ते 13
1 १ तेव्हा इस्राएलाच्या लोकांनी परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने जे वाईट ते परत केले, यास्तव परमेश्वराने पलिष्ट्यांना त्यांच्यावर चाळीस वर्षे राज्य करण्याची परवानगी दिली.
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and he delivered them into the hands of the Philistines forty years.
2 २ तेव्हा सरा येथला दानांच्या कुळाचा कोणी मनुष्य होता; त्याचे नाव मानोहा होते, आणि त्याची स्त्री वांझ होती, यास्तव तिला लेकरू झाले नव्हते.
Now there was a certain man of Saraa, and of the race of Dan, whose name was Manue, and his wife was barren.
3 ३ तेव्हा परमेश्वराच्या दूताने त्या स्त्रीला दर्शन दिले, आणि तिला म्हटले, “पाहा, तू गरोदर राहण्यास असमर्थ होतीस, म्हणून तू पुत्राला जन्म देऊ शकली नाहीस, परंतु आता तू गरोदर होऊन पुत्राला जन्म देशील.
And an angel of the Lord appeared to her, and said: Thou art barren and without children: but thou shalt conceive and bear a son.
4 ४ आता तू काळजीपूर्वक राहा मद्य किंवा मादक द्रव्य पिऊ नको, आणि जे नियमाप्रमाणे अशुद्ध जाहीर केले ते अन्न खाऊ नको.
Now therefore beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing.
5 ५ पाहा, तू गरोदर होशील आणि तू पुत्राला जन्म देशील आणि त्याचे केस कधीच कापू नकोस कारण तो मुलगा गर्भावस्थेपासूनच देवाचा नाजीर होईल. आणि तो इस्राएलाला पलिष्टयाच्या जाचातून सोडवण्याचा आरंभ करील.”
Because thou shalt conceive and bear a son, and no razor shall touch his head: for he shall be a Nazarite of God, from his infancy, and from his mother’s womb, and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.
6 ६ तेव्हा त्या स्त्रीने जाऊन आपल्या पतीला असे सांगितले की, “देवाचा मनुष्य माझ्याजवळ आला, आणि त्याचे रूप देवाच्या दूताच्या रूपासारखे फार भयंकर होते. म्हणून, तो कोठला, हे मी त्यास विचारले नाही, आणि त्याने आपले नाव मला सांगितले नाही.
And when she was come to her husband she said to him: A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an angel, very awful. And when I asked him who he was, and whence he came, and by what name he was called, he would not tell me.
7 ७ परंतु तो मला म्हणाला, पाहा, तू गरोदर होशील, आणि तू पुत्राला जन्म देशील; तर आता तू दारू आणि मादक द्रव्य पिऊ नको आणि जे काही नियमाप्रमाणे अशुद्ध जाहीर केले आहे ते अन्न खाऊ नको; कारण तो बाळ तुझ्या गर्भावस्थेपासून त्याच्या मरणापर्यंत देवाचा नाजीर होईल.
But he answered thus: Behold thou shalt conceive and bear a son: beware thou drink no wine, nor strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite of God from his infancy, from his mother’s womb until the day of his death.
8 ८ तेव्हा मानोहाने परमेश्वराजवळ विनंती करून म्हटले, हे माझ्या प्रभू, माझे ऐक, जो देवाचा मनुष्य तू पाठवला होता, त्याने आमच्याजवळ पुन्हा यावे, आणि जो पुत्र जन्मेल, त्याच्यासाठी आम्ही काय करावे, हे आम्हांला शिकवावे.”
Then Manue prayed to the Lord, and said: I beseech thee, O Lord, that the mail of God, whom thou didst send, may come again, and teach us what we ought to do concerning the child that shall be born.
9 ९ तेव्हा देवाने मानोहाचा शब्द ऐकला, यास्तव देवाचा दूत त्या स्त्रीजवळ ती शेतात बसली असता पुन्हा आला तिचा पती मानोहा तिच्यासोबत नव्हता.
And the Lord heard the prayer of Manue, and the angel of the Lord appeared again to his wife as she was sitting in the field. But Manue her husband was not with her. And when she saw the angel,
10 १० तेव्हा ती स्त्री त्वरीत पळाली आणि आपल्या पतीला म्हणाली: “पाहा, जो पुरुष त्यादिवशी माझ्याजवळ आला होता, तो माझ्या दृष्टीस पडला आहे.”
She made haste and ran to her husband: and told him saying: Behold the man hath appeared to me whom I saw before.
11 ११ मग मानोहा उठून आपल्या पत्नीच्यामागे चालून त्या पुरुषाजवळ गेला, आणि त्यास बोलला, “जो पुरुष माझ्या पत्नीबरोबर बोलला होता,” तो तूच आहेस काय? तेव्हा तो म्हणाला, “होय मीच आहे.”
He rose up and followed his wife: and coming to the man, said to him: Art thou he that spoke to the woman? And he answered: I am.
12 १२ मग मानोहा म्हणाला, “तुझे शब्द खरे ठरोत; परंतु त्या मुलासाठी काय नियम ठरवले आहेत आणि त्याचे काम काय असेल?”
And Manue said to him: When thy word shall come to pass, what wilt thou that the child should do? or from what shall he keep himself?
13 १३ तेव्हा परमेश्वराच्या दूताने मानोहाला म्हटले, “जे मी या स्त्रीला सांगितले, त्याविषयी हिने काळजीपूर्वक रहावे.
And the angel of the Lord said to Manue: From all the things I have spoken of to thy wife, let her refrain herself:
14 १४ द्राक्षवेलापासून जे येते त्यातले काहीही हिने खाऊ नये, आणि मद्य व मादक द्रव्य पिऊ नये, आणि नियमाप्रमाणे जे काही अशुद्ध जाहीर केले आहे ते खाऊ नये; जे सर्व मी हिला आज्ञापिले त्याचे तिने पालन करावे.”
And let her eat nothing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: and whatsoever I have commanded her, let her fulfill and observe.
15 १५ तेव्हा मानोहा परमेश्वराच्या दूताला म्हणाला, “आम्ही तुला विनंती करतो थोडा वेळ थांब, तुझ्यासाठी करडू तयार करण्यास आम्हांला वेळ दे,”
And Manue said to the angel of the Lord: I beseech thee to consent to my request, and let us dress a kid for thee.
16 १६ परंतु परमेश्वराचा दूत मानोहाला बोलला, “मी जरी थांबलो तरी, मी तुझे अन्न खाणार नाही; परंतु जर तू होमार्पण करशील, तर ते तुला परमेश्वर देवाला अर्पण करावे लागेल,” (तेव्हा तो परमेश्वर देवाचा दूत होता, हे मानोहाला कळले नव्हते)
And the angel answered him: If thou press me, I will not eat of thy bread: but if thou wilt offer a holocaust, offer it to the Lord. And Manue knew not it was the angel of the Lord.
17 १७ मग मानोहाने परमेश्वराच्या दूताला म्हटले, “तुझे नाव काय आहे, कारण की तुझे बोलणे खरे ठरल्यावर आम्ही तुझा आदर करू?”
And he said to him: What is thy name, that, if thy word shall come to pass, we may honour thee?
And he answered him: Why askest thou my name, which is wonderful?
19 १९ मग मानोहाने अन्नार्पणासह करडू घेऊन, परमेश्वर, जो आश्चर्यकर्म करणारा त्यास खडकावर होमार्पण केले; तेव्हा मानोहा व त्याची पत्नी पाहत असताना,
Then Manue took a kid of the flocks, and the libations, and put them upon a rock, offering to the Lord, who doth wonderful things: and he and his wife looked on.
20 २० जेव्हा अग्नी वेदीवरून आकाशात चढला, तेव्हा परमेश्वराचा दूत त्या वेदीच्या अग्नीतून वर आकाशात चढला. मानोहा व त्याची पत्नी यांनी हे पाहिले आणि आपली तोंडे भूमीस लावून नमन केले.
And when the flame from the altar went up towards heaven, the angel of the lord ascended also in the flame. And when Manue and his wife saw this, they fell flat on the ground.
21 २१ मग परमेश्वराचा दूत मानोहाच्या व त्याच्या पत्नीच्या दृष्टीस फिरून पडला नाही; तेव्हा मानोहाला कळले की, तो परमेश्वराचा दूत होता.
And the angel of the Lord appeared to them no more. And forthwith Manue understood that it was an angel of the Lord,
And he said to his wife: We shall certainly die, because we have seen God.
23 २३ तेव्हा त्याची पत्नी त्यास म्हणाली, “जर परमेश्वर देवाला आपल्याला मारायची इच्छा असती, तर त्याने आपल्या हातातून होमार्पण व अन्नार्पण स्वीकारले नसते, आणि या सर्व गोष्टी आपल्याला दाखवल्या नसत्या, तसेच या वेळेसारखे वर्तमान आपल्याला ऐकवले नसते.”
And his wife answered him: If the Lord had a mind to kill us, he would not have received a holocaust and libations at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor have told us the things that are to come.
24 २४ नंतर त्या स्त्रीला पुत्र झाला, आणि तिने त्याचे नाव शमशोन ठेवले; तो पुत्र वाढत गेला, या प्रकारे परमेश्वराने त्यास आशीर्वाद दिला.
And she bore a son, and called his name Samson. And the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.
25 २५ तेव्हा सरा व अष्टावोल यांच्या दरम्यान महने-दानाच्या छावणीत त्यास परमेश्वराचा आत्मा प्रेरणा करू लागला.
And the spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Saraa and Esthaol.
