यशया 40
Comfort ye—comfort ye my people, —Saith your God.
2 २ यरूशलेमेशी प्रेमळपणाने बोला; आणि तिला घोषणा करून सांगा की तुझे युद्ध संपले आहे, तिच्या अन्यायाची क्षमा झाली आहे, तिने आपल्या सर्व पापांसाठी परमेश्वराच्या हातून दुप्पट स्विकारले आहे.
Speak ye unto the heart of Jerusalem, And cry unto her, —That accomplished is her warfare, That accepted is her punishment, —That she hath received, at the hand of Yahweh, According to the full measure of all her sins.
3 ३ घोषणा करणाऱ्याची वाणी म्हणते, अरण्यात परमेश्वराचा मार्ग तयार करा; आमच्या देवासाठी रानात सरळ राजमार्ग करा.
A voice of one crying!—In the desert, prepare ye the way of Yahweh, —Make smooth in the waste plain a highway for our God:
4 ४ प्रत्येक दरी उंच होईल, आणि प्रत्येक डोंगर आणि टेकडी सपाट होईल; आणि खडबडीत जमीन सपाट होईल आणि उंचसखल जागा मैदान होईल.
Let, every valley, be exalted, And every mountain and hill, be made low, —And, the steep ground become, level, And, the chain of hills—a plain:
5 ५ आणि परमेश्वराचे गौरव प्रगट होईल आणि सर्व लोक ते एकत्रित पाहतील; कारण परमेश्वराच्या मुखातील हे शब्द आहेत.
Then shall be revealed the glory of Yahweh, —And all flesh shall see it together, For, the mouth of Yahweh, hath spoken!
6 ६ एक वाणी म्हणाली, “घोषणा कर” दुसरे उत्तर आले, “मी काय घोषणा करू?” सर्व देह गवत आहे आणि त्यांचा सर्व विश्वासूपणाचा करार वनातील फुलासारखा आहे.
A voice saying Cry! And one said—What should I cry? All flesh, is grass, And, all the grace thereof, like the flower of the field:
7 ७ गवत सुकते व फुल कोमजते, जेव्हा परमेश्वराच्या श्वासाचा फुंकर त्यावर पडतो; खात्रीने मानवजात गवत आहे.
The grass hath withered The flower hath faded, Because, the breath of Yahweh, hath blown upon it! Surely the people is grass!
The grass, hath withered, The flower, hath faded, —But the word of our God, shall stand unto times age-abiding!
9 ९ सियोनेस, सुवार्ता घेऊन येणारे जाणारे, उंच डोंगरावर चढ; यरूशलेमेस सुवार्ता सांगणाऱ्ये, आपला आवाज जोराने उंच कर. मोठ्याने आरोळी मार; घाबरू नकोस. यहूदातील नगरांना सांग, येथे तुझा देव आहे!
To a high mountain, get ye up, O herald—band of Zion, Lift high with strength your voice, O herald—band of Jerusalem, —Lift it high, do not fear, Say to the cities of Judah—Lo! your God!
10 १० पाहा, प्रभू परमेश्वर, विजयी वीरासारखा येत आहे आणि त्याचे बलवान बाहू त्यासाठी सत्ता चालवील. पाहा, त्याचे बक्षीस त्याच्याबरोबर आहे आणि त्याचा मोबदला त्याच्यापुढेच आहे.
Lo! My Lord, Yahweh, as a mighty one, doth come, And, his own arm, is about to rule for him, —Lo! his reward, is with him, And, his recompense, before him;
11 ११ मेंढपाळाप्रमाणे आपल्या कळपास तो चारील, तो कोकरास आपल्या बाहूत एकवटून त्यांना आपल्या उराशी धरून वाहील आणि तान्ह्या पिल्लांना पाजणाऱ्या मेंढ्याना तो जपून नेईल.
Like a shepherd, his flock, will he tend, In his own arm, will he take up the lambs, And in his own bosom, will he carry [them], —Them which are with young, will he lead to a place of rest.
12 १२ आपल्या ओंजळीने समुद्राचे पाणी कोणी मोजले आहे, आकाशाचे माप आपल्या वतीने, पृथ्वीवरची धूळ पाटीत धरली, डोंगराचे वजन तागडीत किंवा टेकड्या तराजूत तोलल्या आहेत?
Who hath measured, with the hollow of his hand, the waters. Or the heavens with a span, hath meted out, Or hath comprehended, in a measure, the dust of the earth, Or weighed, in scales, the mountains, Or the hills, in a balance?
Who hath proved the spirit of Yahweh? Or being his counsellor hath been giving him knowledge?
14 १४ त्याने कोणापासून कधी सूचना स्विकारली? कोणी त्यास योग्य गोष्टी करण्याचा मार्ग शिकवला, आणि त्यास कोणी ज्ञान शिकवले किंवा सुज्ञतेचा मार्ग दाखवला?
With whom hath he taken counsel—And he hath given him intelligence, And instructed him in the path of justice, —And taught him knowledge, And in the way of intelligence, hath been giving him understanding?
15 १५ पाहा, राष्ट्रे बादलीतल्या एका थेंबासमान आहेत आणि तराजूतल्या धुळीच्या कणासारखी मोजली आहे; पाहा तो बेटही धुळीच्या कणासारखे उचलतो.
Lo! nations, Are us a drop on a bucket, And as fine dust on a balance, are accounted, —Lo! islands, like an atom, can he hoist;
And, Lebanon, is not sufficient to burn, —Nor, the beasts thereof sufficient for an ascending-sacrifice!
All nations, are as nothing before him, —A thing of nought or a waste, are they accounted unto him?
Unto whom then can ye liken GOD? Or, what likeness, can ye compare unto him?
19 १९ मूर्ती! कारागीराने ओतून केली आहेः सोनार तिला सोन्याने मढवतो आणि तिच्यासाठी चांदीच्या साखळ्या ओततो.
The image, hath been cast by an artificer, And a goldsmith, with gold, overlayeth it, —And, chains of silver, he worketh.
20 २० जो अर्पण देण्यास असमर्थ असा गरीब तो न कुजणारे लाकूड निवडतो; न पडणारी मूर्ती बनविण्यासाठी तो निपूण कारागीर शोधतो.
The needy offerer, of a tree that will not rot, maketh choice, —A skilled artificer, seeketh he out for himself to construct an image that shall not totter,
21 २१ तुम्हास माहीत नाही काय? तुम्ही ऐकले नाही काय? तुम्हास सुरवातीपासून सांगितले नाही काय? पृथ्वीचा पाया घातल्यापासून हे तुम्हास समजले नाही काय?
Have ye never taken note? Have ye never heard? Hath it not from the beginning, been told you? Have ye not been led to discern, from the foundations of the earth?
22 २२ जो पृथ्वीच्या वरील नभोमंडळावर बसतो तो हाच आहे आणि त्याच्यापुढे रहिवासी टोळासारखे आहेत. तो आकाश पडद्याप्रमाणे ताणतो आणि त्यामध्ये राहण्यासाठी तंबूप्रमाणे पसरतो.
It is he who sitteth upon the circle of the earth, While the inhabitants thereof are, as grass-hoppers, —Who stretcheth forth, as a curtain, the heavens, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in;
Who delivereth dignitaries to nothingness, —Judges of earth, like a desolation, hath he made:
24 २४ पाहा, ते केवळ लावले आहेत; पाहा, ते केवळ पेरले आहेत; पाहा त्यांनी केवळ भूमीत मूळ धरले आहे, तो त्यांच्यापुढे त्यावर फुंकर घालतो आणि ते सुकून जातात व वादळ त्यांना धसकटासारखे उडवून नेते.
Scarcely have they been planted, Scarcely have they been sown, Scarcely hath their stock, begun to take root in the earth, When he hath just blown upon them and they have withered, And, a whirlwind, as though they had been chaff, carrieth them away.
Unto whom then, can ye liken me, or can I be equal? Saith the Holy One.
26 २६ आकाशाकडे वर पाहा! हे सर्व तारे कोणी निर्माण केले आहेत? तो त्याच्या निर्मीतीचे मार्गदर्शन करून बाहेर नेतो आणि त्या सर्वांना नावाने बोलावतो. त्याच्या सामर्थ्याच्या महानतेमुळे आणि प्रबळ सत्ताधीश आहे म्हणून, त्यातला एकही उणा नाही.
Lift on high your eyes—and see who hath created these, That bringeth forth, by number, their host, —To all of them by name, doth call, Because of the abundance of vigour and alertness of strength, not one, is missing!
27 २७ हे याकोबा, तू असे का म्हणतोस, आणि इस्राएलास जाहीर करतोस, माझे मार्ग परमेश्वरापासून गुप्त आहेत आणि माझा देव माझ्या समर्थनाविषयी लक्ष देत नाही?
Wherefore, shouldest thou say, O Jacob, or speak, O Israel, —Hidden is my path from Yahweh, And from my God, my vindication, will pass?
28 २८ तुला माहीत नाही काय? तू ऐकले नाही काय? परमेश्वर हा सनातन देव, पृथ्वीच्या सीमा निर्माण करणारा, थकत किंवा दमत नाही; त्याच्या बुद्धीला मर्यादा नाही.
Hast thou not known, Hast thou not heard, That The God of age-past time—Yahweh The Creator of the ends of the earth Fainteth not neither groweth weary—There is no searching of his understanding:
Giving to him that fainteth, strength, And to him that hath no vigour, he causeth, power to abound?
Youths both faint and grow weary, And, young warriors—they fall, they fall;
31 ३१ पण जे कोणी परमेश्वराची प्रतीक्षा करतात ते त्यांची नवीन शक्ती संपादन करतील; ते गरुडासारखे पंखांनी वर उडतील; ते धावतील तरी दमणार नाहीत; ते चालतील तरी गळून जाणार नाहीत.
But, they who wait for Yahweh, shall renew their strength, They shall mount on strong pinion like eagles, —They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint.
