अनुवाद 24
1 १ एखाद्याला लग्नानंतर आपल्या पत्नीच्या संबंधाने एखादी अयोग्य गोष्ट कळली व ती त्यास आवडेनाशी झाली तर त्याने तिला घटस्फोट लिहून द्यावा; मग तिला घराबाहेर काढावे.
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give [it] in her hand, and send her out of his house.
And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s [wife].
3 ३ त्यातून समजा असे झाले की या पतीचीही तिच्यावर इतराजी झाली आणि त्याने तिला घटस्फोट लिहून दिला तर मात्र त्याने तिला सोडल्यावर पुन्हा पहिल्या पतीने तिच्याशी लग्न करु नये. किंवा हा दुसरा पती मरण पावला तर पहिल्या नवऱ्याने पुन्हा तिच्याशी लग्न करु नये.
And [if] the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth [it] in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her [to be] his wife;
4 ४ कारण ती आता भ्रष्ट झालेली आहे. तिच्याशी पहिल्या नवऱ्याने पुन्हा लग्न करणे या गोष्टीचा तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याला वीट आहे. तुमचा देव परमेश्वर तुम्हास देणार असलेल्या या प्रदेशात असे पाप करु नका.
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that [is] abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance.
5 ५ एखाद्याचे नुकतेच लग्न झाले असेल तर त्यास सैन्यात मोहिमेवर पाठवू नये. तसेच त्याच्यावर विशेष कामगिरी सोपवू नये. नववधूला सुखी ठेवण्यासाठी वर्षभर घरीच राहण्याची मोकळीक त्यास द्यावी.
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: [but] he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
6 ६ कोणाला काही उसने दिल्यास त्याबद्दल जाते किंवा जात्याची तळी गाहाण म्हणून ठेवून घेऊ नये, नाहीतर त्याचा जीवच गहाण ठेवून घेतल्यासारखे होईल.
No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh [a man’s] life to pledge.
7 ७ कोणी आपल्या इस्राएली बांधवाचे अपहरण केले आणि गुलाम म्हणून त्याची विक्री केली तर त्या पळवणाऱ्या मनुष्यास ठार करावे व आपल्यामधून अशा दुष्कृत्याचे निर्मूलन करावे.
If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
8 ८ कोणाला महारोग झाल्याचे आढळले तर लेवी याजकाने सांगितलेल्या सर्व गोष्टींचे काटेकोर पालन करा. माझ्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे याजक सांगतील ते ऐका.
Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, [so] ye shall observe to do.
9 ९ मिसरमधून बाहेर पडल्यावर पुढच्या प्रवासात मिर्यामचे तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने काय केले ते चांगले लक्षात असू द्या.
Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.
10 १० तुम्ही आपल्या शेजाऱ्याला कोणत्याही प्रकारचे कर्ज द्याल तेव्हा तारण मिळवायला त्याच्या घरात शिरू नका.
When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.
Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.
12 १२ तो फार गरीब असला तर दुसरे काहीच त्याच्याजवळ गहाण ठेवण्यासारखे नसल्यामुळे आपले कपडे आणील. तर ते वस्त्र अंगावर घेऊन झोपू नका.
And if the man [be] poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:
13 १३ त्यास रोजच्या रोज संध्याकाळ झाली की देत जा म्हणजे त्यास पुरेसे अंथरुन पांघरुण मिळेल. त्याबद्दल तो तुम्हास आशीर्वाद देईल. तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्या दृष्टीने हे तुमचे वागणे न्यायीपणाचे व उचित होय.
In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.
14 १४ तुमच्याकडे काम करणाऱ्या गरीब आणि गरजू नोकरांचे शोषण करु नका. मग तो इस्राएली बांधव असो की तुमच्या गावात राहणारा कोणी परकीय असो.
Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant [that is] poor and needy, [whether he be] of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that [are] in thy land within thy gates:
15 १५ त्यास रोज सूर्यास्तापूर्वी त्याचा रोजगार देत जा. कारण हातावर पोट असल्यामुळे त्याचा उदरनिर्वाह या पैशावरच होतो. तुम्ही मजुरी दिली नाहीत तर तो परमेश्वराकडे आपले गाऱ्हाणे सांगेल आणि तुम्ही पापाचे धनी व्हाल.
At his day thou shalt give [him] his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he [is] poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
16 १६ मुलांच्या वागणुकीची शिक्षा म्हणून आई-वडीलांना देहान्तशासन होऊ नये. तसेच आई-वडीलांच्या दुष्कृत्याची सजा म्हणून मुलांना ठार करु नये. ज्याच्या त्याच्या दुष्कृत्याची सजा ज्याला त्यास मिळावी.
The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, [nor] of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge:
18 १८ मिसरमध्ये तुम्ही गरीब गुलाम होतात आणि तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने तुम्हास तेथून सोडवून मुक्त केले हे लक्षात ठेवा. दीन दुबळ्यांशी असे वागा हे मी एवढ्यासाठी तुम्हास सांगत आहे.
But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
19 १९ शेतातील पीक कापताना एखादी पेंढी तिथेच राहिली तर ती आणायला परत जाऊ नका. अनाथ, उपरे विधवा ह्याच्यासाठी ती राहू द्या. त्यांना थोडे धान्य मिळाले तर तुम्हास तुमच्या प्रत्येक कार्यात तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याचा आशीर्वाद मिळेल.
When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.
20 २० जैतून वृक्षांच्या फळांसाठी झाडणी कराल तेव्हा डहाळ्यांमध्ये कुठे फळे राहिली आहेत का हे पुन्हा शोधू नको. ती अनाथ, परके, विधवा यांच्यासाठी राहू दे.
When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
21 २१ द्राक्षमळ्यातून द्राक्षे खुडताना उरली तर ती द्राक्षे पुन्हा तोडू नको ती अनाथ, परके, व विधवा त्यांच्यासाठीच राहू दे.
When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean [it] afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
22 २२ तुम्हीही मिसरमध्ये गरीब गुलाम होता म्हणून मी तुम्हास हे करायला सांगत आहे. त्याची आठवण ठेवा आणि गरिबांसाठी एवढे करा.
And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
