अनुवाद 13
1 १ स्वप्नांचा अर्थ सांगणारा एखादा संदेष्टा तुमच्याकडे एखाद्या वेळी येईल. आपण काही चिन्ह, किंवा चमत्कार दाखवतो असे तो म्हणेल.
And if there arise within thee a prophet, or one who dreams a dream, and he gives thee a sign or a wonder,
2 २ कदाचित् त्या चिन्हाचा तुम्हास पडताळा येईल किंवा चमत्कार खराही ठरेल. मग तो, तुम्हास अपरिचित अशा इतर दैवतांची सेवा करायला सुचवेल.
and the sign or the wonder come to pass which he spoke to thee, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye know not;
3 ३ तरी त्या संदेष्टयाचे किंवा स्वप्न पाहणाऱ्याचे ऐकू नका. कारण तुम्ही आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्यांच्यावर संपूर्ण मनाने व संपूर्ण जिवाने प्रीती करता कि नाही हे पाहण्यासाठी तुमचा देव परमेश्वर तुमची परीक्षा पाहत असेल.
ye shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or the dreamer of that dream, because the Lord thy God tries you, to know whether ye love your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 ४ तेव्हा तुम्ही आपल्या परमेश्वर देवालाच अनुसरा. त्याचे भय बाळगा त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळा. त्याची वाणी ऐका, त्याची सेवा करा आणि त्यालाच बिलगूण राहा.
Ye shall follow the Lord your God, and fear him, and ye shall hear his voice, and attach yourselves to him.
5 ५ तसेच त्या संदेष्ट्याला किंवा स्वप्न सांगणाऱ्याला ठार मारा. कारण तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याने तुम्हास मिसर देशात तुम्ही गुलाम होता तेव्हा तेथून सोडवले आहे. परमेश्वर देवाने आज्ञा देऊन नेमून दिलेल्या जीवनमार्गापासून हा मनुष्य तुम्हास दूर नेतो म्हणून आपल्यामधून तुम्ही या दुष्टाईचे निर्मूलन करा.
And that prophet or that dreamer of a dream, shall die; for he has spoken to make thee err from the Lord thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, who redeemed thee from bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in: so shalt thou abolish the evil from among you.
6 ६ तुमच्या निकटची एखादी व्यक्ती हळूच तुम्हास दुसऱ्या दैवताच्या भजनी लावायचा प्रयत्न करील. ही व्यक्ती म्हणजे तुमचा सख्खा भाऊ, मुलगा, मुलगी, प्रिय पत्नी, किंवा जिवलग मित्रही असू शकतो. तो म्हणेल, चल आपण या दुसऱ्या दैवताची पूजा करु. तुझ्या किंवा तुझ्या पूर्वजांच्या ऐकण्यातही नसलेले हे दैवत असेल
And if thy brother by thy father or mother, or thy son, or daughter, or thy wife in thy bosom, or friend who is equal to thine own soul, entreat thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known,
of the gods of the nations that are round about you, who are near thee or at a distance from thee, from one end of the earth to the other;
8 ८ त्या व्यक्तीच्या म्हणण्याला मान्यता देऊ नका. त्याचे ऐकू नका. त्याची गय येऊ देऊ नका. त्यास मोकळा सोडू नका. तसेच त्यास लपवू नका.
thou shalt not consent to him, neither shalt thou hearken to him; and thine eye shall not spare him, thou shalt feel no regret for him, neither shalt thou at all protect him:
9 ९ त्यास ठार करा. त्यास दगडांनी मारा. पहिला दगड तुम्ही उचला आणि मारायला सुरूवात करा. मग इतर जण त्यास दगडांनी मारतील.
thou shalt surely report concerning him, and thy hands shall be upon him among the first to slay him, and the hands of all the people at the last.
10 १० मरेपर्यंत त्यास दगडमार करावी; कारण मिसरमधून ज्याने तुम्हास दास्यातून सोडवले त्या परमेश्वर देवापासूनच हा तुम्हास बहकवायचा प्रयत्न करत आहे.
And they shall stone him with stones, and he shall die, because he sought to draw thee away from the Lord thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
11 ११ ही गोष्ट सर्व इस्राएलांच्या कानावर गेली की त्यांनी ही भीती वाटेल, आणि अशी दुष्कृत्ये करायला ते धजावणार नाहीत.
And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not again do according to this evil thing among you.
12 १२ तुम्हास राहण्याकरता तुमचा देव परमेश्वर नगरे देईल. त्यापैकी एखाद्या नगरातून तुमच्या कानावर वाईट बातमी येईल. ती अशी की,
And if in one of thy cities which the Lord God gives thee to dwell therein, thou shalt hear men saying,
13 १३ तुमच्यापैकीच काही नीच माणसे आपल्यापैकी काही जणांना कुमार्गाला लावत आहेत. आपण अन्य दैवतांची सेवा करु या, असे म्हणून त्यांनी नगरातील लोकांस बहकावले आहेत. (ही दैवते तुम्हास अपरीचीत असतील.)
Evil men have gone out from you, and have caused all the inhabitants of their land to fall away, saying, Let us go and worship other gods, whom ye knew not,
14 १४ असे काही कानावर आल्यास ते खरे आहे की नाही याची आधी पूर्ण शहानिशा करून घ्या. ते खरे निघाले, असे काही भयंकर घडल्याचे सिद्ध झाले,
then thou shalt enquire and ask, and search diligently, and behold, [if] the thing is clearly true, and this abomination has taken place among you,
15 १५ तर त्या नगरातील लोकांस त्याचे शासन द्या. त्या सर्वांचा तलवारीने वध करा. त्यांच्या जनावरांनाही शिल्लक ठेवू नका. ते शहर पूर्णपणे उध्वस्त करा.
thou shalt utterly destroy all the dwellers in that land with the edge of the sword; ye shall solemnly curse it, and all things in it.
16 १६ मग तेथील सर्व मौल्यवान वस्तू गोळा करून शहराच्या मध्यभागी आणा. आणि त्याचबरोबर सर्व शहर बेचिराख करून टाका. ते तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याचे होमार्पण असेल. ते शहर पुन्हा कधीच वसवता कामा नये.
And all its spoils thou shalt gather into its public ways, and thou shalt burn the city with fire, and all its spoils publicly before the Lord thy God; and it shall be uninhabited for ever, it shall not be built again.
17 १७ ते नगर नाश करायला परमेश्वराच्या हवाली केले जावे म्हणून त्यातील कोणतीही वस्तू स्वत: साठी ठेवून घेऊ नका. ही आज्ञा ऐकलीत तर परमेश्वराचा तुमच्यावरचा क्रोध ओसरेल. त्यास तुमची दया येईल तुमच्याबद्दल प्रेम वाटेल तुमच्या पूर्वजांना त्याने कबूल केल्याप्रमाणे त्याच्याकृपेने तुमच्या देशाची भरभराट होईल.
And there shall nothing of the cursed thing cleave to thy hand, that the Lord may turn from his fierce anger, and shew thee mercy, and pity thee, and multiply thee, as he sware to thy fathers;
18 १८ नगरे उध्वस्त करण्याविषयी तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याचे ऐकलेत, त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळल्यात तरच हे घडेल. तेव्हा तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याच्या दृष्टीने जे योग्य तेच तुम्ही करा.
if thou wilt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments, all that I charge thee this day, to do that which is good and pleasing before the Lord thy God.
