आमोस 1
1 १ तकोवाच्या मेंढपाळांमधला, आमोस याची ही वचने, यहूद्यांचा राजा उज्जीया आणि योवाशाचा मुलगा, इस्राएलाचा राजा यराबाम यांच्या दिवसात, भूकंपाच्या दोन वर्षे आधी इस्राएलाविषयी जी वचने दृष्टांताच्या द्वारे त्यास मिळाली ती ही आहेत.
The words of 'Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he foresaw concerning Israel in the days of 'Uzziyah the king of Judah, and in the days of Jerobo'am the son of Joash the king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 २ तो म्हणाला: सीयोनांतून परमेश्वर गर्जना करेल, तो यरूशलेमेतून आपला शब्द उच्चारील. मेंढपाळांची कुरणे शोक करतील, आणि कर्मेलाचा माथा वाळून जाईल.
And he said, The Lord will cry aloud out of Zion, and from Jerusalem will he send forth his voice; and then shall mourn the pastures of the shepherds, and then shall dry up the top of Carmel.
3 ३ परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “कारण दिमिष्काच्या तिन्ही पापांबद्दल, अगदी चारहींमुळे, मी त्यांना शासन करण्यापासून माघारी फिरणार नाही. कारण त्यांनी गिलादला मळण्याच्या लोखंडी अवजाराने मळले आहे.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have threshed [the inhabitants of] Gil'ad with threshing instruments of iron;
And I will send a fire into the house of Chazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad.
5 ५ मी दिमिष्काच्या प्रवेशद्वाराचे गज मोडून टाकीन, आणि बेथ-एदेनाच्या घरातून राजदंड धरणारा व आवेनाच्या खोऱ्यात राहणारा राजा यांचा पराभव करीन. आणि अरामी लोक कीर येथे पाडवपणांत जातील.” असे परमेश्वर म्हणतो.
And I will break the bars of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the valley of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of 'Eden: and the people of Syria shall be exiled unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6 ६ आणि परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “गज्जाच्या तिन्ही पापांबद्दल, अगदी चारहींमुळे, त्यांना शिक्षा करण्यापासून मी माघारी फिरणार नाही. कारण त्यांनी संपूर्ण लोकांस गुलाम म्हणून नेले, ह्यासाठी की त्यांना अदोम्यांच्या हाती द्यावे.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Gazzah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they carried away exiles in full numbers, to deliver them up to Edom;
And I will send a fire against the wall of Gazzah, which shall devour her palaces;
8 ८ मी अश्दोदमध्ये राहणाऱ्या मनुष्यास आणि अष्कलोनात राजदंड धरणाऱ्या मनुष्यास नष्ट करीन. एक्रोनाच्या विरुद्ध मी माझा हात चालवीन. आणि पलिष्ट्यांचे उरलेले लोक मरतील.” असे परमेश्वर देव म्हणतो.
And I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against 'Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord Eternal.
9 ९ परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “सोराच्या तिन्ही पापांबद्दल, अगदी चारहींमुळे, मी त्यांना शिक्षा करण्यापासून माघारी फिरणार नाही. कारण त्यांनी संपूर्ण लोकांस अदोम्यांच्या हाती दिले आणि त्यांच्या भावांबरोबर केलेल्या कराराचे स्मरण त्यांना राहिले नाही.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they delivered up the exiles in full numbers to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant;
And I will send a fire against the walls of Tyre, which shall devour her palaces.
11 ११ परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “अदोमाच्या तिन्ही पापांबद्दल, अगदी चारहींमुळे, मी त्यांना शिक्षा करण्यापासून फिरणार नाही. कारण अदोमाने तलवार घेऊन त्याच्या भावाचा पाठलाग केला. आणि त्याने सर्व दयाशीलपणा काढून टाकला. त्याचा क्रोध कायम राहिला, आणि त्याने आपला राग सतत बाळगला.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he pursued with the sword his brother, and disregarded his mercy, and his anger tore in pieces continually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
And I will send out a fire against Theman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13 १३ परमेश्वर असे म्हणतो, “अम्मोनांच्या संतानाच्या तिन्ही पापांबद्दल, अगदी चारहींमुळे, मी शिक्षा करण्यापासून फिरणार नाही. कारण त्यांनी गिलादामध्ये गर्भवतींना फाडून टाकले, ह्यासाठी की आपल्या देशाचा सीमांचा विस्तार करावा.
Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of the children of 'Ammon, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have ripped up the pregnant women of Gil'ad, in order to enlarge their own territory;
14 १४ म्हणून मी राब्बाच्या तटबंदीला आग लावीन, त्यांच्यावर युध्दाच्या दिवशी आरडाओरड होत असतांना, आणि वावटळीच्या दिवशी वादळाने, ती त्याचे महाल खाऊन टाकील.
And I will kindle a fire within the walls of Rabbah, which shall devour her palaces, with shouting on the day of battle, with a storm on the day of the tempest;
And their king shall go into exile, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
