2 शमुवेल 5
1 १ इस्राएलच्या सर्व घराण्यांमधील लोक हेब्रोन येथे दावीदाजवळ एकत्र आले आणि त्यास म्हणाले, आपण इस्राएल लोक एकाच कुटुंबातले, एकाच हाडामांसाचेआहोत.
Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own flesh and blood.
2 २ शौल राज्यावर होता तेव्हा सुध्दा तुम्हीच युध्दात आमचे नेतृत्व करत होता. इस्राएलांना युध्दावरून तुम्हीच परत आणत होता. खुद्द परमेश्वर तुम्हास म्हणाला, “माझ्या इस्राएल प्रजेचा तू मेंढपाळ होशील. इस्राएलवर राज्य करशील.”
Even in times past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And to you the LORD said, ‘You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”
3 ३ मग इस्राएल मधील सर्व वडीलधारी मंडळी दावीद राजाला भेटायला हेब्रोन येथे आली. दावीदाने या सर्वांबरोबर परमेश्वरासमक्ष करार केला. त्यानंतर दावीदाला त्या सर्वांनी इस्राएलचा राजा म्हणून अभिषेक केला.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, where King David made with them a covenant before the LORD. And they anointed him king over Israel.
David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.
5 ५ हेब्रोनमध्ये यहूदावर त्याने साडेसात वर्षे राज्य केले आणि तेहतीस वर्षे सर्व इस्राएल आणि यहूदावर यरूशलेमेमधून राज्य केले.
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah.
6 ६ राजाने आपले लोक बरोबर घेऊन यरूशलेम येथे राहणाऱ्या यबूसी लोकांवर स्वारी केली तेव्हा ते यबूसी दावीदाला म्हणाले, “तू आमच्या नगरात प्रवेश करू शकणार नाहीस, आमच्या येथील आंधळे आणि पांगळे सुध्दा तुम्हास थोपवतील. दावीदाला आपल्या नगरात प्रवेश करणे जमणार नाही असे त्यांना वाटले म्हणून ते असे म्हणाले.”
Now the king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the land. The Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and lame can repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the City of David).
8 ८ दावीद त्या दिवशी आपल्या लोकांस म्हणाला, “यबूसी लोकांचा पराभव करायचा असेल तर खंदकमार्गे जा आणि त्या आंधळ्या पांगळ्या दावीदाच्या शत्रूंना गाठा. यावरूनच, आंधळे पांगळे यांना या देवाच्या घरात येता यायचे नाही अशी म्हण पडली.”
On that day he said, “Whoever attacks the Jebusites must use the water shaft to reach the lame and blind who are despised by David.” That is why it is said, “The blind and the lame will never enter the palace.”
9 ९ दावीदाचा मुक्काम किल्ल्यात होता व त्याचे नाव दावीदपूर असे दिले. मिल्लो नामक भाग त्याने उभारला. नगराच्या आत त्याने आणखी बऱ्याच इमारती उभारल्या.
So David took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built it up all the way around, from the supporting terraces inward.
And David became greater and greater, for the LORD God of Hosts was with him.
11 ११ सोरेचा राजा हिराम याने आपले दूत दावीदाकडे पाठवले गंधसंरूची झाडे, सुतार, गवंडी हे ही त्याने पाठवले. त्यांनी दावीदासाठी निवासस्थान उभारले.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, carpenters, and stonemasons, and they built a palace for David.
12 १२ तेव्हा परमेश्वराने आपल्याला खरोखरच इस्राएलाचा राजा केले आहे हे दावीदाला पटले. तसेच देवाने आपल्या लोकांसाठी, इस्राएल राष्ट्रासाठी, त्याच्या (दावीदाच्या) राज्याला महत्व दिले आहे, हे ही त्यास उमगले.
And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
13 १३ हेब्रोनहून आता दावीद यरूशलेम येथे आला. तेथे त्याने आणखी लग्ने केली आणि त्याच्याकडे आता अधिक दासी आणि स्त्रिया होत्या. यरूशलेम येथे त्याच्या आणखी काही मुलांचा जन्म झाला.
After he had arrived from Hebron, David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, and more sons and daughters were born to him.
These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.
17 १७ दावीदाला इस्राएल लोकांनी राज्याभिषेक केल्याचे पलिष्ट्यांनी ऐकले. तेव्हा त्यास शोधून त्याचा वध करण्यासाठी म्हणून ते निघाले. पण हे वृत्त समजल्यावर दावीद यरूशलेम येथील किल्ल्यात आला.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went down to the stronghold.
Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
19 १९ दावीदाने परमेश्वरास विचारले, “मी पलिष्ट्यांवर चढाई करू का? तुझे साहाय्य मला लाभेल काय?” परमेश्वर उत्तरला, “होय पलिष्ट्यांच्या पराभवात मी तुला खात्रीने मदत करील.”
So David inquired of the LORD, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
20 २० तेव्हा दावीद बाल-परासीम येथे गेला आणि त्याने पलिष्ट्यांचा पराभव केला. दावीद तेव्हा म्हणाला, “खिंडार पडलेल्या धरणातून पाणी घूसावे तसा परमेश्वर माझ्यादेखत शत्रूवर तुटून पडला.” म्हणूनच दावीदाने त्या जागेचे नाव बाल परासीम म्हणजे, खिंडार पाडणारा प्रभू, असे ठेवले.
So David went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, the LORD has burst out against my enemies before me.” So he called that place Baal-perazim.
21 २१ पलिष्ट्यांनी आपल्या देवांच्या मूर्ती त्या ठिकाणीच टाकून दिल्या. दावीदाने आणि त्याच्या मनुष्यांनी त्या तेथून हलवल्या.
There the Philistines abandoned their idols, and David and his men carried them away.
Once again the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
23 २३ दावीदाने प्रार्थना केली. यावेळी परमेश्वराने सांगितले, “तेथे जाऊ नको त्यांना वळसा घालून पाठीमागे जा. मग तुतीच्या झाडाजवळ त्यांच्यावर हल्ला कर.
So David inquired of the LORD, who answered, “Do not march straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.
24 २४ तुम्ही झाडावर चढून बसा. त्यांच्या सैन्याच्या चढाईचा आवाज तुम्हास झाडाच्या शेंड्यावरून ऐकू येईल. तेव्हा मात्र झटपट उठाव करा कारण परमेश्वरच पलिष्ट्यांच्या पाडावाला पुढे होईल.”
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
25 २५ दावीदाने मग परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे हालचाली केल्या. पलिष्ट्यांचा पराभव केला. गिबापासून गेजेरपर्यंत तो पलिष्ट्यांना मार देत गेला.
So David did as the LORD had commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
