2 शमुवेल 23
1 १ दावीदाची ही अखेरची वचने; इशायपुत्र दावीदाचा हा संदेश देवामुळे ज्याला थोरवी प्राप्त झाली त्याचा हा संदेश. याकोबाच्या देवाचा हा अभिषिक्त राजा इस्राएलाचा मधुर स्तोत्रे गाणारा गायक.
And these [are] the last words of David: — 'The affirmation of David son of Jesse — And the affirmation of the man raised up — Concerning the Anointed of the God of Jacob, And the Sweetness of the Songs of Israel:
The Spirit of Jehovah hath spoken by me, And His word [is] on my tongue.
3 ३ इस्राएलचा देव हे बोलला, इस्राएलचा दुर्ग मला म्हणाला, “जो न्यायाने राज्य करतो, जो देवाविषयी आदर बाळगून राज्य करतो.
He said — the God of Israel — to me, He spake — the Rock of Israel: He who is ruling over man [is] righteous, He is ruling in the fear of God.
4 ४ तो मनुष्य सकाळच्या प्रकाशासारखा असेल, निरभ्र सकाळ असावी तसा असेल, पावसानंतर येणाऱ्या उन्हासारखा असेल. पाऊस कसा तर ज्याच्यामुळे जमिनीतून कोवळे गवत तरारून येते असा.
And as the light of morning he riseth, A morning sun — no clouds! By the shining, by the rain, Tender grass of the earth!
5 ५ देवाने माझे घराणे बळकट व सुरक्षित केले देवाने माझ्याबरोबर एक कायमचा करार केला. तो सर्व दृष्टींनी माझ्या भल्याकरताच आहे याची त्याने खातरजमा करून घेतली. त्याने असा मजबूत करार केला आणि आता तो त्याचा भंग करणार नाही. हा करार म्हणजे माझा उध्दारच होय. हा करार म्हणजेच मला हवे होते ते सर्व काही होय. परमेश्वर माझ्या घराण्याची भरभराट करील.
For — not so [is] my house with God; For — a covenant age-during He made with me, Arranged in all things, and kept; For — all my salvation, and all desire, For — He hath not caused [it] to spring up.
As to the worthless — As a thorn driven away [are] all of them, For — not by hand are they taken;
7 ७ त्याचा स्पर्श झाला तर लाकडी आणि पंचधातूचा भाला टोचावा तशा वेदना होतात. होय असा मनुष्य काट्यासारखा असतो. त्यांना आगीच्या भक्ष्य स्थानी टाकतील आणि ती जळून खाक होतील.”
And the man who cometh against them Is filled with iron and the staff of a spear, And with fire they are utterly burnt In the cessation.'
8 ८ दावीदाच्या पदरी असलेल्या वीरांची नावे अशी: योशेब-बश्शेबेथ तखमोनी हा रथावरच्या सेवकांचा मुख्य होता. असनी आदीनो म्हणूनही त्यास ओळखतात. त्याने एका वेळी आठशे जणांना ठार केले.
These [are] the names of the mighty ones whom David hath: sitting in the seat [is] the Tachmonite, head of the captains — he [is] Adino, who hardened himself against eight hundred — wounded at one time.
9 ९ त्याच्या खालोखाल अहोही येथील दोदय याचा मुलगा. एलाजाराने पलिष्ट्यांना आव्हान दिले त्यावेळी दावीदाबरोबर असलेल्या तीन वीरांपैकी हा एक. ते युध्दाच्या तयारीने आले, पण इस्राएल सैनिक पळून गेले होते.
And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, of the three mighty men with David; in their exposing themselves among the Philistines — they have been gathered there to battle, and the men of Israel go up —
10 १० थकून अंगात त्राण राहिला नाही तोपर्यंत एलाजार पलिष्ट्यांशी लढत राहिला. तलवारीला हात चिकटेपर्यंत त्याने लढा चालू ठेवला. परमेश्वराने त्या दिवशी मोठा विजय घडवून आणला. एलाजारची युध्दात सरशी झाल्यावर मग शत्रू सैनिकांच्या मृतदेहावरच्या वस्तू गोळा करायला तेवढे ते लोक तिथे आले.
he hath arisen, and smiteth among the Philistines till that his hand hath been weary, and his hand cleaveth unto the sword, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation on that day, and the people turn back after him only to strip off.
11 ११ हरार येथील आगे याचा मुलगा शम्मा हा ही होता. पलिष्टी चालून आले तेव्हा एका कडधान्याच्या शेतात हे युध्द झाले. लोकांनी पलिष्ट्यां समोरून पळ काढला.
And after him [is] Shammah son of Agee the Hararite, and the Philistines are gathered into a company, and there is there a portion of the field full of lentiles, and the people hath fled from the presence of the Philistines,
12 १२ पण शम्मा शेताच्या ऐन मध्यावर उभा राहिला आणि त्याने एकट्याने त्यांना तोंड दिले. त्याने पलिष्ट्यांचा पराभव केला. परमेश्वराने इस्राएलाला त्यादिवशी मोठा विजय मिळवून दिला.
and he stationeth himself in the midst of the portion, and delivereth it, and smiteth the Philistines, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation.
13 १३ दावीद एकदा अदुल्लामच्या गुहेत होता आणि पलिष्टी सैन्याचा तळ खाली रेफाईच्या खोऱ्यात होता. त्यावेळी तीस शूरांपैकी तिघेजण दावीदाकडे जायला म्हणून सरळ गुहेपर्यंत अक्षरश: सरपटत गेले.
And three of the thirty heads go down and come unto the harvest, unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the company of the Philistines are encamping in the valley of Rephaim,
and David [is] then in a fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,
15 १५ दावीद आपल्या गावाचे पाणी पिण्यासाठी व्याकुळ झाला तो म्हणाला, बेथलेहेमच्या वेशीजवळच्या विहिरीतले पाणी मला कुणी आणून दिले तर किती बरे होईल.
and David longeth and saith, 'Who doth give me a drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate?'
16 १६ पण या तीन शूरांनी पलिष्ट्यांच्या ठाण्यातून धाडसाने तोंड देत मार्ग काढला आणि बेथलहेमच्या वेशीजवळच्या विहिरीतले पाणी काढून दावीदाला प्यायला आणून दिले. दावीदाने ते प्यायचे नाकारले. त्याने ते परमेश्वरास अर्पण म्हणून जमिनीवर ओतून दिले.
And the three mighty ones cleave through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water out of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate, and take [it] up, and bring in unto David; and he was not willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,
17 १७ दावीद म्हणाला, “परमेश्वरा, हे पाणी मी कसे पिऊ? हे पाणी मी प्यायलो तर ज्यांनी आपले प्राण माझ्यासाठी धोक्यात घातले त्यांचे रक्तच मी प्राशन केल्यासारखे होईल.” म्हणून तो ते पाणी प्याला नाही. त्या तीन शूर वीरांनी यासारखी अनेक धाडसे केली.
and saith, 'Far be it from me, O Jehovah, to do this; is it the blood of the men who are going with their lives?' and he was not willing to drink it; these [things] did the three mighty ones.
18 १८ सरुवेचा मुलगा यवाब याचा भाऊ म्हणजे अबीशय. अबीशय या तीन वीरांचा नायक होता. आपल्या भाल्याने त्याने तीनशे शत्रू सैनिकांना ठार केले. आणि त्या तिघांमध्ये नाव मिळवले.
And Abishai brother of Joab, son of Zeruiah, he [is] head of three, and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred — wounded, and he hath a name among three.
19 १९ त्या तिघांमध्ये तो सर्वाधिक प्रसिद्ध होता. त्यांचा तो नायकही होता. पण तो पहिल्या तिघांच्यापैकी नव्हता.
Of the three is he not the honoured? and he becometh their head; and unto the [first] three he hath not come.
20 २० यहोयादा याचा मुलगा बनाया हाही एक होता. तो एका पराक्रमी मनुष्याचा पुत्र होता. तो कबसेल इथून आलेला होता. बनायाने बरेच पराक्रम गाजवले मवाबमधील अरीएलच्या दोन मुलांना त्याने मारले. एकदा बर्फ पडत असताना त्याने गुहेत शिरून सिंह मारला.
And Benaiah son of Jehoiada (son of a man of valour, great in deeds from Kabzeel), he hath smitten two lion-like men of Moab, and he hath gone down and smitten the lion in the midst of the pit in a day of snow.
21 २१ एका धिप्पाड मिसरी मनुष्यासही त्याने मारले. या मिसरी मनुष्याच्या हातात भाला होता तर बनायाच्या हातात फक्त काठी. बनायाने त्याचा भाला हिसकावून घेतला आणि त्याच्याच भाल्याने त्या मिसरी मनुष्याचा जीव घेतला.
And he hath smitten the Egyptian man, a man of appearance, and in the hand of the Egyptian [is] a spear, and he goeth down unto him with a rod, and taketh violently away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slayeth him with his own spear.
These [things] hath Benaiah son of Jehoiada done, and hath a name among three mighty.
23 २३ तो तीस वीरांच्या तीस वीर-दावीदाच्या अतिशय शूर सैनिकांचा गट म्हणजे हे लोक होत. यापेक्षा तो अधिक प्रसिद्ध होता. पण तरी पहिल्या तिघांच्या पदाला तो पोचला नाही. दावीदाने त्यास आपल्या अंगरक्षकांचा प्रमुख म्हणून नेमले.
Of the thirty he is honoured, and unto the three he came not; and David setteth him over his guard.
24 २४ यवाबाचा भाऊ असाएल हा त्या तिसातला एक होता. बाकीच्या वीरांची नावे पुढीलप्रमाणे: बेथलहेममधील दोदो याचा मुलगा एलहानान,
Asahel brother of Joab [is] of the thirty; Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem.
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Abiezer the Annethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
Heleb son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin,
Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
Abi-Albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, [of] the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam son of Sharar the Hararite,
Eliphelet son of Ahasbai, son of the Maachathite, Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
Igal son of Nathan from Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, bearer of the weapons of Joab son of Zeruiah,
Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
Uriah the Hittite; in all thirty and seven.
