2 राजे 10
1 १ शोमरोनात अहाबाला सत्तर पुत्र होते. शोमरोनातील अधिकारी आणि वडिलधारी मंडळी यांना येहूने पत्रे पाठवली. व इज्रेलच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना तसेच ज्यांनी या अहाबाच्या मुलांना वाढवले त्यांनाही पाठवली. पत्रात त्याने लिहिले.
There were seventy descendants of King Ahab who were living there in Samaria. Jehu wrote a letter [and made copies of it] and sent them to the rulers of the city, to the elders, and to those who raised and tutored Ahab’s children.
2 २ “हे पत्र मिळाल्यावर तुमच्या धन्याच्या मुलांपैकी जो सगळ्यात गुणी आणि लायक मुलगा असेल त्याची निवड करा. रथ, घोडे इत्यादी तुमच्याजवळ आहेच. तुमचे वास्तव्यही मजबूत शहरात आहे.
[This is what he wrote]: “You are the ones who are [taking care of] the king’s descendants. You have chariots and horses and weapons, and you live in cities that have walls around them. So as soon as you receive this letter,
3 ३ तुमच्याकडे शस्त्रास्त्रे आहेत. तुम्ही ज्या मुलाची निवड कराल तो उत्तम व योग्य असेल त्यास त्याच्या वडिलाच्या सिंहासनावर बसवा. मग आपल्या धन्याच्या घराण्यासाठी लढा द्या.”
choose one of the king’s sons, the one who is the best qualified, and appoint him to be your king. Then [prepare to] fight to defend him.”
4 ४ पण हे वाचून ती अधिकारी आणि वडिलधारी मंडळी फारच घाबरली. ते सर्व म्हणाले, “योराम आणि अहज्या हे दोन राजे सुद्धा येहूला रोखू शकले नाहीत, तेव्हा आम्ही काय त्यास अडवणार?”
But [when they got those letters from Jehu and read them], they became very afraid. They said, “King Joram and King Ahaziah could not resist him; (how can we resist him?/we cannot possibly resist him!)” [RHQ]
5 ५ मग, अहाबाच्या घराची देखभाल करणारा अधिकारी, नगराधिकारी, वडिलधारी मंडळी आणि त्या मुलांचे पालक यांनी येहूला खालील प्रमाणे संदेश पाठवला, “आम्ही तुझे सेवक आहोत. तू म्हणशील ते आम्ही करु. आम्ही कोणालाच राजा करत नाही. तुला योग्य वाटेल ते कर.”
So the officer who was in charge of the palace and the mayor of the city sent a message to Jehu saying, “We want to serve you, and we are ready to do whatever you tell us to do. We will not appoint anyone to become our king. You do whatever you think is best.”
6 ६ येहूने मग त्या अधिकाऱ्यांना आणखी एक पत्र पाठवले. त्यामध्ये त्याने लिहिले, “तुमचा मला पाठिंबा असेल आणि तुम्ही माझ्या आज्ञेत असाल तर अहाबाच्या मुलांचा शिरच्छेद करा. साधारण याच वेळेला इज्रेल येथे त्यांना माझ्याकडे आणा.” अहाब राजाची सत्तर मुले होती आणि नगरातील अधिकाऱ्यांकडे ती होती. त्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी त्यांना वाढवले होते.
So Jehu sent a second letter to them, writing this: “If you (are on my side/want to help me), and if you are ready to obey me, [kill] King Ahab’s descendants [and cut off their heads and] bring their heads to me here in Jezreel at this time tomorrow.” The seventy descendants of King Ahab were being brought up and supervised by the leaders of [Samaria] city.
7 ७ या अधिकाऱ्यांना हे पत्र मिळाले तेव्हा त्यांनी या राजाच्या सर्व सत्तर राजपुत्रांना एकत्र आणून ठार केले. मग त्यांची मस्तके टोपल्यांमध्ये भरली. या टोपल्या येहूकडे इज्रेल याठिकाणी पाठवल्या.
When they received the letter from Jehu, they killed all seventy of Ahab’s descendants and [cut off their heads]. They put their heads in baskets and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.
8 ८ निरोप्याने येऊन येहूला सांगितले, “या लोकांनी राजपुत्रांची मुंडकी आणली आहेत.” त्यास येहू म्हणाला, “नगराच्या वेशीजवळ त्या मुंडक्यांचे दोन ढीग करून सकाळपर्यंत तिथे ठेवा.”
A messenger came to Jehu and told him, “They have brought the heads of Ahab’s descendants.” So Jehu commanded that the heads should be put in two piles at the city gate and that the heads should stay there until the next morning.
9 ९ सकाळी येहू निघाला आणि लोकांपुढे उभा राहून त्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही निरपराध आहात. मी माझ्या धन्याविरुध्द कट रचून त्यास ठार केले. पण अहाबाच्या या मुलांची हत्या कोणी केली? तुम्हीच त्यांना मारलेत.
The next morning he went out [to the city gate] and said to all the people, “I am the one who plotted against King Joram and killed him. You are not guilty of doing that. But [it was Yahweh, not I] [RHQ] who [commanded that] all these [descendants of Ahab should be] killed.
10 १० परमेश्वर बोलतो त्याप्रमाणेच सर्व घडते हे तुम्ही जाणून घेतले पाहिजे. अहाबाच्या कुटुंबाबद्दल परमेश्वराने एलीयाकडून वदविले होते. आता परमेश्वराने आपण ज्या गोष्टी करु म्हणून सांगितले होते त्या सर्व करून दाखवल्या आहेत.”
So you need to know that everything that Yahweh said would happen has happened. He has caused to happen what he told the prophet Elijah would happen.”
11 ११ आणि येहूने इज्रेलमधल्या अहाबाच्या सर्व कुटुंबियांना ठार केले. सर्व प्रतिष्ठित माणसे, जिवलग मित्र याजक यांची त्याने हत्या केली. अहाबाच्या नातलगांपैकी कोणीही जिवंत राहिले नाही.
Then Jehu executed all the other relatives of Ahab in Jezreel, and all Ahab’s officers, and close friends, and his priests. He did not allow any of them to remain alive.
12 १२ इज्रेल सोडून येहू शोमरोनला आला. वाटेत तो मेंढपाळांच्या तळावर थांबला. मेंढपाळ लोकर कातरतात त्या ठिकाणच्या एका घरात तो गेला.
Then Jehu left [Jezreel] and went toward Samaria. While he was going there, at a place called ‘Shepherds’ Camp’,
13 १३ यहूदाचा राजा अहज्या याच्या नातेवाईकांना तो भेटला. येहूने त्यांची चौकशी केली, “तुम्ही कोण आहात?” ते म्हणाले, “आम्ही यहूदाचा राजा अहज्या याचे नातेवाईक. राजाची मुले आणि राजमातेची मुले यांची विचारपूस करायला आम्ही जात आहोत.”
he met some relatives of King Ahaziah of Judah. He asked them, “Who are you?” They replied, “We are relatives of King Ahaziah. We are going to Jezreel to visit the children of Queen Jezebel and the other members of King [Joram’s] family.”
14 १४ तेव्हा येहू आपल्याबरोबरच्या लोकांस म्हणाला, “यांना जिवंत ताब्यात घ्या.” तेव्हा येहूच्या लोकांनी त्यांना ताब्यात घेतले. ते सगळे मिळून बेचाळीस होते. बेथ-एकेद जवळच्या विहिरीपाशी येहूने त्या सर्वांना ठार केले. येहूने कोणालाही जिवंत ठेवले नाही.
Jehu said to his men, “Seize them!” So they seized them and killed all of them at the pit named Beth-Eked. There were 42 people whom they killed; they did not allow any of them to remain alive.
15 १५ तिथून निघाल्यावर येहूला रेखाबाचा मुलगा योनादाब भेटला. तो येहूला भेटायलाच निघाला होता. येहूने त्याचे कुशल विचारुन म्हटले, “मी तुझा विश्वासू मित्र आहे, तसाच तूही आहेस ना?” यहोनादाब म्हणाला, “होय, मी तुझा विश्वासू मित्र आहे.” येहू म्हणाला, “तसे असेल तर मला तुझा हात दे.” आणि येहूने त्याचा हात धरुन त्यास आपल्या रथात घेतले.
Then Jehu [continued to travel toward Samaria]. Along the road, he was met by Jonadab, a leader of the Rechab clan. Jehu greeted him and said to him, “Are you as devoted to me [IDM] as I am devoted to you?” Jonadab replied, “Yes, I am.” Jehu said, “If you are, shake hands with me.” So Jonadab shook hands with him, and Jehu helped him to get into his chariot.
16 १६ येहू योनादाबाला म्हणाला, “चल माझ्याबरोबर. परमेश्वराबद्दल मला किती उत्कंठा आहे ती बघ.” तेव्हा यहोनादाब येहूबरोबर त्याच्या रथातून निघाला.
Jehu said to him, “Come with me, and you will see that I am very devoted to Yahweh.” So they rode together to Samaria.
17 १७ शोमरोनला पोहोचल्यावर येहूने अहाबचे जे कोणी कुटुंबिय अजून जिवंत होते त्या सर्वांना मारले. एलीयाला परमेश्वराने सांगितले होते ते सर्व येहूने केले.
When they arrived in Samaria, Jehu killed all of Ahab’s relatives who were still alive. He did not (spare any of them/allow any of them to remain alive). That was what Yahweh told Elijah would happen.
18 १८ येहूने मग सर्वांना एकत्र बोलावले. त्यांना तो म्हणाला, “अहाबाने बआलाची थोडी सेवा केली. पण येहू मात्र त्याची बरीच सेवा करणार आहे.
Then Jehu summoned all the people [of Samaria], and said to them, “King Ahab was devoted to [your god] Baal a little bit, but I will serve him much more.
19 १९ आता बआलाच्या सर्व संदेष्टयांना आणि याजकांना बोलावून घ्या. तसेच जे जे बआलाची पूजा करतात त्यांनाही बोलवा. यामध्ये कोणीही गैरहजर असता कामा नये. बआलसाठी मला मोठा यज्ञ करायचा आहे. इथे जो येणार नाही त्यास मी ठार करीन हे नक्की,” येहूची ही सर्व बतावणी होती. त्यास बआलाच्या पूजकांचा संहार करायचा होता.
So now summon all the prophets of Baal, all of Baal’s priests, and all the others who worship Baal. I am going to make a great sacrifice to Baal. I want all of them to be there. Any of them who is not there will be executed.” But Jehu was planning to trick them; he was planning to kill all those who worshiped Baal.
Then Jehu commanded, “Announce that we are going to set aside a day to honor Baal.” So they did that.
21 २१ येहूने मग इस्राएलभर संदेश पाठवला. बआलाचे समस्त पूजक जमले. एकही मागे राहिला नाही. बआलाच्या देवळात ते आल्यावर देऊळ भरुन गेले.
Jehu [decided what day they would gather and] sent messages throughout Israel [telling everyone what day to gather on], and on that day, everyone who worshiped Baal came. No one stayed at home. They all went into the huge temple of Baal and filled it from one end to the other.
22 २२ वस्त्र भांडार सांभाळणाऱ्याला येहू म्हणाला, “बआलाच्या या सर्व पूजकांसाठी वस्त्रे दे.” तेव्हा त्याने सर्वासाठी वस्त्रे दिली.
Jehu told the priest who took care of the sacred robes to bring them out and give them to the people who worshiped Baal. So the priest did that.
23 २३ मग येहू आणि रेखाबाचा मुलगा योनादाब बआलाच्या देवळात शिरले. येहू तेथे जमलेल्या बआलाच्या सर्व पूजकांना म्हणाला, “तुमच्यात कोणी परमेश्वराचा सेवक नाही ना ते एकदा पाहून खात्री करून घ्या. बआलाच्या पूजा करणारेच सर्व इथे आहेत ना ते पाहा.”
Then Jehu went into the temple of Baal with Jonadab, and he said to the people who were there to worship Baal, “Be sure that only those who worship Baal are here. Be sure that no one who worships Yahweh has come in.”
24 २४ यज्ञ आणि होमार्पणे करण्यासाठी बआलाचे सर्व पूजक बालाच्या देवळात शिरले. बाहेर येहूने ऐंशीजणांना तयार ठेवले होते. त्यांना येहूने सांगितले होते, “कोणालाही आतून निसटू द्यायचे नाही. एखादा कोणी गेलाच तर त्यास जाऊ देणाऱ्याला आपला जीव गमवावा लागेल.”
Then he and Jonadab prepared to offer sacrifices and other offerings to Baal that would be completely burned [on the altar that was there in Samaria]. But Jehu had stationed eighty of his men outside the temple, and had said to them, “I want you to kill all the people [who are in the temple]. Anyone who allows one of them to escape will be executed!”
25 २५ स्वत: यज्ञात होमबली अर्पण केल्यावर लगेच हुजऱ्यांना आणि सरदारांना येहूने सांगितले, “आता, आत जा आणि बालाची पूजा करणाऱ्यांना ठार करा. कोणालाही देवळातून जिवंत बाहेर येऊ देऊ नका.” तेव्हा सरदारांनी धारदार तलवारींनी सर्व पूजकांना ठार केले. त्यांनी आणि हुजऱ्यांनी बाल देवतेच्या पूजकांचे मृतदेह बाहेर टाकले ते बआलाच्या देवळाच्या गर्भगृहात गेले
As soon as Jehu [and Jonadab] had finished killing the animals that would be completely burned to be an offering to Baal, they [went outside and] said to the guards and officers, “Go in and kill all of them! Do not allow any of them to escape!” So the guards and officers went in and killed them all with their swords. Then they dragged their corpses outside the temple. Then they went into the inner room of the temple,
and they carried out the sacred pillar of Baal that was there, and they burned it.
27 २७ बआलाच्या स्मृतीस्तंभाचा त्यांनी चुराडा केला. बआलाच्या देवळाचाही विध्वंस केला. त्या देवळाचे त्यांनी प्रसाधनगृह करून टाकले. अजूनही लोक त्याचा तसाच वापर करतात.
So they destroyed that pillar that honored Baal, and then they burned down the temple, and made it a public toilet. And it is still a toilet!
That is how Jehu got rid of the worship of Baal in Israel.
29 २९ पण नबाटचा मुलगा यराबाम याने जी पापे इस्राएलाला करायला लावली त्यापासून येहू पूर्णपणे परावृत्त झाला नाही. बेथेल आणि दान इथली सोन्याची वासरे त्याने उध्वस्त केली नाहीत.
But Jehu did not quit committing the kinds of sins that Jeroboam had committed, sins that led the people of Israel to sin by worshiping the gold [statues of] calves in Bethel and Dan [cities].
30 ३० परमेश्वर येहूला म्हणाला, “तू चांगली कामगिरी केलीस. माझ्या मते जे उचित तसेच तू वागलास. अहाबाच्या कुटुंबाचा मला हव्या त्या पध्दतीने तू विध्वंस केलास. तेव्हा आता तुझ्या पुढच्या चार पिढ्या इस्राएलवर राज्य करतील.
Then Yahweh said to Jehu, “You have done what pleased me by getting rid of all of Ahab’s descendants. So I promise you that your son and grandson and great-grandson and great-great-grandson will all be kings of Israel.”
31 ३१ पण परमेश्वराच्या नियमांना अनुसरुन मन: पूर्वक वर्तन ठेवणे येहूला जमले नाही. यराबामाच्या ज्या दुष्कृत्यांमुळे इस्राएल पापाच्या गर्तेत गेला ते करण्यापासून तो स्वत: ला थोपवू शकला नाही.”
But Jehu did not obey all the laws of Yahweh, the God of the Israeli people. He did not stop committing the sins that Jeroboam had committed, sins that led the Israeli people to sin.
32 ३२ याचवेळी परमेश्वराने इस्राएल प्रदेशाचे लचके तोडायला सुरुवात केली. अरामाचा राजा हजाएल याने इस्राएलच्या सर्व सीमांवर पराभव केला.
At that time, Yahweh began to cause the territory controlled by Israel to become smaller. [The army of] King Hazael [of Syria] conquered much of the Israeli territory.
33 ३३ यार्देन नदीच्या पूर्वेकडील प्रदेश त्याने जिंकला गाद, रऊबेन आणि मनश्शे यांच्या कुटुंबांच्या ताब्यातील प्रदेशासकट सगळा गिलाद त्यामध्ये आला. तसेच आर्णोन खोऱ्यातील अरोएर पासून गिलाद आणि बाशानपर्यंतचा प्रदेश हजाएलने जिंकला.
He conquered the parts east of the Jordan [River], as far south as Aroer [town] on the Arnon [River]. That included [the] Gilead and Bashan [regions], where the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and half of the tribe of Manasseh lived.

35 ३५ येहू मरण पावला आणि आपल्या पूर्वजांना मिळाला. लोकांनी त्याचे दफन शोमरोनात केले. येहूचा मुलगा यहोआहाज त्यानंतर इस्राएलचा राजा झाला.
Jehu died [EUP], and was buried in Samaria. His son Jehoahaz became the king in place of his father.
Jehu had ruled in Samaria as the king of Israel for twenty-eight years.
