1 १ अमस्याचा पुत्र उज्जीया याला यहूदाच्या लोकांनी अमस्याच्या गादीवर बसवले. उज्जीया तेव्हा सोळा वर्षांचा होता.
And all the people of Judah take Uzziah (and he [is] a son of sixteen years), and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah.
2 २ उज्जीयाने एलोथ नगर पुन्हा बांधून काढले आणि यहूदाच्या स्वाधीन केले. अमस्याच्या मृत्यूनंतरची ही घटना.
He hath built Eloth, and restoreth it to Judah after the king's lying with his fathers.
3 ३ उज्जीया सोळा वर्षांचा असताना राजा झाला पुढे त्याने यरूशलेमेवर बावन्न वर्षे राज्य केले. त्याच्या आईचे नाव यखिल्या ती यरूशलेमची होती.
A son of sixteen years [is] Uzziah in his reigning, and fifty and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jecholiah of Jerusalem.
4 ४ उज्जीयाचे वर्तन परमेश्वराच्या दृष्टीने योग्य असे होते. आपले पिता अमस्या यांच्याप्रमाणे त्याने देवाचे अनुसरण केले.
And he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Amaziah his father did,
5 ५ जखऱ्याच्या हयातीत उज्जीयाने देवाचे अनुसरण केले. आदरपूर्वक परमेश्वरास मानणे त्यास जखऱ्याने शिकवले, उज्जीया असे वागत असे तोपर्यंत परमेश्वर देवाने उज्जीयाचे कल्याण केले.
and he is as one seeking God in the days of Zechariah who hath understanding in visions of God: and in the days of his seeking Jehovah, God hath caused him to prosper.
6 ६ उज्जीयाने पलिष्ट्यांबरोबर युध्द केले. गथ, यब्ने व अश्दोदचे कोट पाडून टाकले अश्दोद जवळ व पलिष्ट्यांच्या वस्तीत इतरत्र उज्जीयाने नगरे वसवली.
And he goeth forth, and fighteth with the Philistines, and breaketh down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and buildeth cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 ७ पलिष्टे, गुरबालमधले अरब आणि मऊनी यांच्याशी झालेल्या लढायांमध्ये परमेश्वराने उज्जीयाला साहाय्य केले.
And God helpeth him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who are dwelling in Gur-Baal and the Mehunim.
8 ८ अम्मोनी लोक उज्जीयाला कर देत असत. उज्जीयाचे सामर्थ्य इतके वाढले की त्याची कीर्ती मिसरच्या सीमेपर्यंत पोहोचली.
And the Ammonites give a present to Uzziah, and his name goeth unto the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself greatly.
9 ९ यरूशलेमामध्ये कोपऱ्यातली वेस, खोऱ्याची वेस आणि कोट वळसा घेतो तेथे उज्जीयाने बुरुज बांधून तटबंदीला बळकटी आणली.
And Uzziah buildeth towers in Jerusalem, by the gate of the corner, and by the gate of the valley, and by the angle, and strengtheneth them;
10 १० वाळवंटातही त्याने टेहळणी बुरुज बांधले. अनेक विहिरी खणल्या. डोंगराळ भागात आणि सपाटीवर त्याची बरीच गुरेढोरे होती. तसेच तेथील सुपीक भागात शेतकरी होते. द्राक्षबागांच्या देखरेखेसाठी देखील त्याची माणसे होती. उज्जीयाला शेतीची आवड होती.
and he buildeth towers in the wilderness, and diggeth many wells, for he had much cattle, both in the low country and in the plain, husbandmen and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.
11 ११ उज्जीयाच्या सैन्यात चांगले लढवय्ये होते. ईयेल हा चिटणीस आणि मासेया हा कारभारी हे दोघे त्यांची गटागटात विभागणी करत. हनन्या या एका सेनानायकच्या हाताखाली हे दोघेजण होते. ईयेल आणि मासेया यांनी केलेल्या गणतीप्रमाणे सैन्य टोळी टोळीने लढाईवर जाई.
And Uzziah hath a force, making war, going forth to the host, by troops, in the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Masseiah the officer, by the hand of Hananiah [one] of the heads of the king.
The whole number of heads of the fathers of the mighty ones of valour [is] two thousand and six hundred;
13 १३ शत्रूवर तुटून पडणाऱ्या तीन लाख सात हजार पाचशे वीरांच्या सैन्याचे ते प्रमुख होते. राजाच्या बाजूने ते शत्रूवर चालून जात.
and by their hand [is] the force of the host, three hundred thousand, and seven thousand, and five hundred warriors, with mighty power to give help to the king against the enemy.
14 १४ या सर्व सेनेला उज्जीयाने ढाली, भाले, शिरस्त्राणे, चिलखते, धनुष्य आणि गोफणगुंडे अशी शस्त्रास्त्रे दिली.
And Uzziah prepareth for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, even to stones of the slings.
15 १५ काही हुशार कारागिरांनी शोधून काढलेली यंत्रेही उज्जीयाने यरूशलेमामध्ये बनवून घेतली. ती त्याने बुरुजांवर आणि तटाच्या कोपऱ्यावर बसवली. ही यंत्रे बाण व मोठ्या दगडांचा मारा करीत असत. उज्जीया फार प्रसिध्द झाला. उज्जीयाचे नाव त्यामुळे सर्वदूर पसरले. त्याची कुमक वाढली आणि तो बलवान झाला.
And he maketh in Jerusalem inventions — a device of an inventor — to be on the towers, and on the corners, to shoot with arrows and with great stones, and his name goeth out unto a distance, for he hath been wonderfully helped till that he hath been strong.
16 १६ पण सामर्थ्य वाढल्यावर तो गर्विष्ठ झाला आणि त्यामुळे त्याचा नाश ओढवला. परमेश्वरावर त्याची निष्ठा राहिली नाही. धूप जाळण्यासाठी असलेल्या वेदीवर धूप जाळण्यासाठी तो परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात गेला.
And at his being strong his heart hath been high unto destruction, and he trespasseth against Jehovah his God, and goeth in unto the temple of Jehovah to make perfume upon the altar of perfume.
And Azariah the priest goeth in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah eighty, sons of valour,
18 १८ त्यांनी उज्जीयाची चूक दाखवून दिली. ते त्यास म्हणाले, “उज्जीया, परमेश्वरास धूप जाळणे हे तुझे काम नव्हे. तू ते करु नकोस. अहरोनाचे वंशज आणि याजक यांचेच ते काम आहे. धूप जाळण्याच्या या पवित्र कामासाठी ते नेमलेले आहेत. तेव्हा या पवित्र गाभाऱ्यातून तू बाहेर ये. परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेचे तू उल्लंघन केले आहेस. परमेश्वर देवाकडून तुझा गौरव होणार नाही.”
and they stand up against Uzziah the king, and say to him, 'Not for thee, O Uzziah, to make perfume to Jehovah, but for priests, sons of Aaron, who are sanctified to make perfume; go forth from the sanctuary, for thou hast trespassed, and [it is] not to thee for honour from Jehovah God.'
19 १९ पण उज्जीयाला या बोलण्याचा राग आला. त्याच्या हाती धूपपात्र होते. याजकांवर तो संतापला असताना पाहता पाहता त्याच्या कपाळावर कोड उठले. परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात धूप जाळण्याच्या वेदीच्या जवळ याजकांसमक्षच हे घडले.
And Uzziah is wroth, and in his hand [is] a censer to make perfume, and in his being wroth with the priests — the leprosy hath risen in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of Jehovah, from beside the altar of perfume.
20 २० मुख्य याजक अजऱ्या आणि इतर याजक उज्जीयाकडे बघतच राहिले. त्याच्या कपाळावरचे कोड त्यांनी पाहिले. त्याबरोबर त्यांनी उज्जीयाला तातडीने मंदिराबाहेर घालवले. परमेश्वराने शासन केल्यामुळे उज्जीयाही लगेचच चालता झाला.
And Azariah the head priest looketh unto him, and all the priests, and lo, he [is] leprous in his forehead, and they hasten him thence, and also he himself hath hastened to go out, for Jehovah hath plagued him.
21 २१ राजा उज्जीया कुष्ठरोगी झाला. परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात त्यास मज्जाव होता. तो एका स्वतंत्र घरात राहू लागला. त्याचा पुत्र योथाम हा राजघराण्याचा कारभारी बनला आणि लोकांचे शासन करु लागला.
And Uzziah the king is a leper unto the day of his death, and inhabiteth a separate house — a leper, for he hath been cut off from the house of Jehovah, and Jotham his son [is] over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.
And the rest of the matters of Uzziah, the first and the last, hath Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet written;
23 २३ उज्जीया मरण पावला आणि त्याच्या पूर्वजांजवळ त्याचे दफन झाले. राजासाठी असलेल्या दफनभूमीच्या शेजारच्या जागेत त्यास पुरले. कारण तो कुष्ठरोगी होता. उज्जीयाच्या नंतर त्याचा पुत्र योथाम राजा झाला.
and Uzziah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers, in the field of the burying-place that the kings have, for they said, 'He [is] a leper;' and reign doth Jotham his son in his stead.
