1 १ यहोरामाच्या जागी यरूशलेमेच्या लोकांनी यहोरामाचा सर्वांत धाकटा पुत्र अहज्या याला राजा केले. यहोरामाच्या छावणीवर हल्ला करायला आलेल्या अरबी लोकांबरोबर जे लोक आले होते त्यांनी यहोरामाच्या इतर सर्व थोरल्या पुत्रांना मारुन टाकल्यामुळे यहूदात अहज्या राज्य करु लागला.
The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in succession to his father, since the invaders who had entered the camp with the Arabians had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, became king of Judah.
2 २ त्यावेळी अहज्या बेचाळीस वर्षांचा होता. त्याने यरूशलेमेवर एक वर्ष राज्य केले. त्याच्या आईचे नाव अथल्या व ती अम्रीची नात.
Ahaziah was twenty-two when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri.
3 ३ अहज्याची वागणूकही अहाबाच्या घराण्याप्रमाणेच होती. कारण अहज्याच्या आईने त्यास दुराचरण करण्यास प्रवृत्त केले.
Ahaziah also followed the evil ways of the family of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him to do wicked things.
4 ४ अहाबाच्या कुटुंबियांनी केले तसेच, परमेश्वरास मान्य नसलेले पापाचरण अहज्याने केले. अहज्याच्या पित्याच्या मृत्यूनंतर अहाबाच्या घराण्याने त्यास सल्ला द्यायला सुरुवात केली. त्याचे हे सल्ले अहज्याच्या भल्याचे नव्हते. त्या अयोग्य सल्ल्यामुळेच त्याच्यावर मृत्यू ओढवला.
He did what was evil in the Lord's sight, just as the family of Ahab had done. For after his father's death they were his counselors, to his ruin.
5 ५ अहाब कुटुंबाच्या मसलतीनुसार अहज्या राजा योरामाच्या बरोबर अरामाचा राजा हजाएल याच्याशी लढण्यास रामोथ-गिलाद येथे गेला. योराम हा इस्राएलचा राजा अहाब याचा पुत्र. योराम या लढाईत अराम्याकडून जखमी झाला.
He also followed their advice in joining with Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, in attacking Hazael, king of Aram, in Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram,
6 ६ तो हजाएलाशी रामा येथे लढताना अरामी लोकांच्या हातून जे घाय त्यास झाले होते ते बरे व्हावेत म्हणून तो इज्रेल येथे गेला. अहाबाचा पुत्र यहोराम हा इज्रेल येथे आजारी होऊन पडला होता म्हणून यहूदाचा राजा यहोराम ह्याचा पुत्र अजऱ्या त्याच्या समाचारास गेला.
and he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he'd received in Ramah fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went to Jezreel to visit Joram, son of Ahab, because Joram was wounded.
7 ७ अहज्या (किंवा यहोआहाज) योथामाला भेटायला आलेला असतांना परमेश्वराने अहज्याला मृत्युमुखी केले. त्याचे असे झाले की आल्याबरोबर अहज्या योरामाबरोबर निमशीचा पुत्र येहू याला भेटायला गेला. अहाबाच्या घराण्याच्या नाशासाठी परमेश्वराने येहूची योजना केली होती.
Azariah's downfall came from God when he went to see Joram. When Azariah got there, he went with Joram to meet Jehu, son of Nimri. The Lord had anointed Jehu to destroy Ahab and his family.
8 ८ अहाबाच्या घराण्याला शासन करीत असता येहूला यहूदाचे सरदार आणि अहज्याच्या सेवेत असलेले अहज्याचे आप्त आढळले. त्या सरदारांना आणि आप्तांना येहूने ठार केले.
While Jehu was carrying out judgment on the family of Ahab, he came across the leaders of Judah and Azariah's relatives who were assisting Ahaziah, and he killed them.
9 ९ यानंतर येहूने अहज्याचा शोध घेतला. येहूच्या मनुष्यांनी त्यास तो शोमरोनात लपायच्या प्रयत्नात असताना पकडले. अहज्याला त्यांनी येहूसमोर हजर केले, नंतर त्यांनी त्यास ठार केले आणि त्याचे दफन केले. ते म्हणाले, “अहज्या हा यहोशाफाटाचा वारस. यहोशाफाट जिवाभावाने परमेश्वरास शरण गेला होता.” यहूदाचे राज्य सांभाळण्याइतके अहज्याचे घराणे समर्थ राहिले नव्हते.
Then Jehu went looking for Ahaziah. His men found him in Samaria and captured him, and took him to Jehu where they killed him. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who was completely committed to following the Lord.” There was no one left from Ahaziah's family to rule the kingdom.
10 १० अथल्या ही अहज्याची आई. तिने आपला पुत्र मरण पावला आहे हे पाहिल्यावर तीने यहूदाच्या सर्व राजवंशाचा संहार केला.
When Athaliah Ahaziah's mother found out that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill all who remained of the royal family of Judah.
11 ११ पण राजाची कन्या यहोशबाथ हिने अहज्याचा पुत्र योवाश याला लपवले. योवाश आणि त्याची दाई यांना तिने आतल्या शयनगृहात ठेवले. यहोशबाथ ही राजा यहोरामाची कन्या आणि यहोयादा या याजकाची पत्नी. अहज्या तिचा भाऊ यहोशबाथाने योवाशाला लपवल्यामुळे अथल्या त्यास मारु शकली नाही.
But Jehoshabeath, daughter of King Jehoram, grabbed Joash, son of Ahaziah, and took him from the sons of the king who were about to be killed, and she placed him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah's sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so she couldn't kill him.
12 १२ परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात त्यास याजकांच्या सहवासात सहा वर्षे लपवून ठेवले होते. या काळात अथल्याने त्या जागेवर राज्य केले.
And they kept Joash hidden with them in God's Temple for six years while Athaliah ruled the country.
