1 १ यरूशलेमेला आल्यावर रहबामाने एक लाख ऐंशी हजार उत्तम योध्दे जमवले. यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन या घराण्यांमधून त्यानेही निवड केली. इस्राएलाशी युध्द करून स्वत: कडे राज्य खेचून आणण्यासाठी त्यानेही जमवाजमव केली.
Forsothe Roboam cam in to Jerusalem, and clepide togidere al the hows of Juda and of Beniamyn, `til to nyne scoore thousynde of chosen men and werriouris, for to fiyte ayens Israel, and for to turne his rewme to hym.
And the word of the Lord was maad to Semeye, the man of God,
3 ३ “शमाया, यहूदाचा राजा, शलमोन पुत्र रहबाम याच्याशी तू बोल तसेच यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन इथल्या इस्राएल लोकांशीही बोल. त्यांना म्हणावे.
and seide, Speke thou to Roboam, the sone of Salomon, kyng of Juda, and to al Israel, which is in Juda and Beniamyn; The Lord seith these thingis,
4 ४ परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे असे आहे आपल्या बांधवांशी लढू नका. प्रत्येकाने घरी जावे. मीच हे सर्व व्हायला कारणीभूत आहे.” तेव्हा राजा रहबाम आणि त्याचे सैन्य यांनी परमेश्वराचा संदेश मानला आणि ते परत गेले. यराबामावर त्यांनी हल्ला केला नाही.

and bildide Bethleem, and Ethan, and Thecue, and Bethsur;
and Sochot, and Odollam;
also and Jeth, and Maresa, and Ziph;
but also Huram, and Lachis, and Azecha;
10 १० सरा, अयालोन व हेब्रोन या तटबंदी असलेल्या नगरांची डागडुजी केली. यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन मधली ही नगरे चांगली भक्कम करण्यात आली.
and Saraa, and Hailon, and Ebron, that weren in Juda and Beniamyn, ful strong citees.
11 ११ किल्ले मजबूत झाल्यावर रहबामाने त्यांच्यावर नायक नेमले. अन्नसामग्री, तेल, द्राक्षरस यांचा साठा त्याने तेथे केला.
And whanne he hadde closid tho with wallis, he settide `in tho citees princes, and bernes of metis, that is, of oile, and of wyn.
12 १२ प्रत्येक नगरात ढाली आणि भाले यांचा पुरवठा करून गावे अधिकच मजबूत केली. यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन मधील ही नगरे आणि तेथील लोक यांना रहबामाने आपल्या नियंत्रणाखाली ठेवले.
But also in ech citee he made placis of armuris of scheeldis, and speris, and he made tho strong with most diligence; and he regnyde on Juda and Beniamyn.
Sotheli the preestis and dekenes, that weren in al Israel, camen to hym fro alle her seetis,
14 १४ लेवींनी आपली शेती आणि मालमत्ता सोडली आणि ते यहूदा व यरूशलेम येथे आले. परमेश्वराप्रीत्यर्थ याजकाचे काम करायला यराबाम आणि त्याचे पुत्र यांनी लेवींना हाकलून लावले म्हणून ते आले.
and forsoken her subarbis and possessiouns, and thei passiden to Juda and to Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and hise aftir comeris hadden cast hem a wey, that thei schulden not be set in preesthod of the Lord;
15 १५ यराबामाने बोकड आणि वासरे यांच्या मूर्ती उच्चस्थानी स्थापन केल्या आणि त्यांच्या पूजेसाठी आपले याजक निवडले.
which Jeroboam made to hym preestis of hiye places, and of feendis, and of caluys, which he hadde maad.
16 १६ इस्राएलच्या सर्व वंशातील जे लोक इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर याच्याशी एकनिष्ठ होते ते ही, लेवींनी इस्राएल सोडल्यावर, त्यांच्या पुर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वरास यज्ञार्पणे करण्यासाठी यरूशलेमेला आले.

17 १७ त्यामुळे यहूदाचे राज्य बळकट झाले. त्यांनी शलमोनाचा पुत्र रहबाम याला तीन वर्षे पाठिंबा दिला. या काळात त्यांनी दावीद आणि शलमोन यांच्यासारखेच आचरण ठेवले.
And thei strengthiden the rewme of Juda, and strengthiden Roboam, the sone of Salomon, bi thre yeer; for thei yeden in the weies of Dauid, and of Salomon, oneli bi thre yeer.
18 १८ रहबामाने दावीदपुत्र यरीमोथ आणि इशायपुत्र अलीयाब ह्याची कन्या अबीहाईल ह्यांच्यापासून झालेली महलथ हिच्याशी विवाह केला;
Forsothe Roboam weddide a wijf Malaoth, the douytir of Jerymuth, sone of Dauid, and Abiail, the douytir of Heliab, sone of Ysaye;
and sche childide to hym sones, Yeus, and Somorie, and Zerei.
20 २० मग रहबामाने माकाशी विवाह केला. माका ही अबशालोमची कन्या. माकाला रहबामापासून अबीया, अत्थय, जीजा आणि शलोमीथ हे पुत्र झाले.
Also after this wijf he took Maacha, the douyter of Abissalon, and sche childide to hym Abia, and Thai, and Ziza, and Salomyth.
21 २१ रहबामाचे आपल्या इतर पत्नी आणि उपपत्नी यांच्यापेक्षा माकावर अधिक प्रेम होते. माका अबशालोमची नात. रहबामाला अठरा पत्नी आणि साठ उपपत्नी होत्या. त्यास अठ्ठावीस पुत्र आणि साठ कन्याहोत्या.

22 २२ माकाचा पुत्र अबीया याला रहबामाने सर्व भावडांमध्ये अग्रक्रम दिला. कारण त्यास राजा करावे अशी त्याची इच्छा होती.
Sotheli he ordeynede Abia, the sone of Maacha, in the heed, duyk ouer alle hise britheren; for he thouyte to make Abia kyng,
23 २३ रहबामाने मोठ्या चतुराईने आपल्या सर्व पुत्रांना यहूदा आणि बन्यामीन येथील भक्कम तटबंदी असलेल्या नगरांमध्ये विखरून ठेवले. त्यांना उत्तम रसद पुरवली. त्यांची लग्ने लावून दिली.
for he was wisere and myytiere ouer alle hise sones, and in alle the coostis of Juda and of Beniamyn, and in alle wallid citees; and he yaf to hem ful many metis, and he had many wyues.
