1 शमुवेल 29

1 १ मग पलिष्ट्यांनी आपली सर्व सैन्ये अफेक येथे एकत्र जमवली आणि इस्राएली मनुष्यांनी इज्रेलात एका झऱ्याजवळ छावणी दिली.

Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel.

2 २ पलिष्ट्यांचे सरदार आपापल्या शंभरासोबत व हजांरासोबत पुढे चालले आणि त्यांच्या पिछाडीस दावीद व त्याची माणसे आखीशाबरोबर चालली.

And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands, and David and his men passed on in the rearward with Achish.

3 ३ तेव्हा पलिष्ट्यांचे सरदार बोलले, “हे इब्री येथे काय करतात?” मग आखीश पलिष्ट्यांच्या सरदाराना म्हणाला, “इस्राएलाचा राजा शौल याचा चाकर दावीद तो हाच आहे की नाही? तो माझ्याजवळ काही दिवस किंवा काही वर्षे राहिला आहे. आणि तो माझ्याकडे आला त्या दिवसापासून आजपर्यंत त्याच्याकडे मला काही अपराध सापडला नाही.”

Then the rulers of the Philistines said, What are these Hebrews? And Achish said to the rulers of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or rather these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell away to me to this day?

4 ४ मग पलिष्ट्यांचे सरदार त्याच्यावर फार रागावले; आणि पलिष्ट्यांचे सरदार त्यास म्हणाले, “जे ठिकाण तू या मनुष्यास नेमून दिले येथे त्याच्या ठिकाणी त्याने जावे म्हणून त्यास परत जाण्यास सांग; त्याने आमच्याबरोबर लढाईला येऊ नये; तो आला तर कदाचित तो लढाईत आमचा विरोधी होईल; कारण हा आपल्या प्रभूशी कशावरून समेट करणार नाही बरे? या आपल्या मनुष्यांच्या शिरांनीच की नाही?

But the rulers of the Philistines were angry with him. And the rulers of the Philistines said to him, Make the man return, that he may go back to his place where thou have appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For with what does this man reconcile himself to his lord? Would it not be with the heads of these men?

5 ५ शौलाने हजारांना मारले व दावीदाने दहा हजारांना मारले, असे ते नाचत व गात ज्याच्याविषयी एकमेकांना म्हणाले, तोच हा दावीद आहे की नाही?”

Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands?

6 ६ मग आखीशाने दावीदाला बोलावून त्यास म्हटले, “परमेश्वर जिवंत आहे; तू सरळपणाने वागला आहेस व माझ्याबरोबर सैन्यात तुझे बाहेर जाणे व तुझे आत येणे माझ्या दृष्टीने बरे आहे. आणि तू माझ्याजवळ आला त्या दिवसापासून आजपर्यंत तुझ्याठायी काही वाईट मला सापडले नाही. तथापि तू सरदारांच्या मनास येत नाहीस.

Then Achish called David, and said to him, As Jehovah lives, thou have been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the army is good in my sight, for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming to me to this day. Nevertheless the lords do not favor thee.

7 ७ तर तू पलिष्ट्यांच्या सरदारांना असंतूष्ट करू नये. म्हणून आता शांतीने निघून परत जा.”

Therefore now return, and go in peace, that thou not displease the lords of the Philistines.

8 ८ तेव्हा दावीद आखीशाला म्हणाला, “मी आपला धनी राजा याच्या शत्रूशी लढायला येऊ नये असे मी काय केले आहे? मी तुमच्या पुढे आलो त्या दिवसापासून आजपर्यंत तुम्हास आपल्या दासाच्याठायी काय सापडले आहे?”

And David said to Achish, But what have I done? And what have thou found in thy servant so long as I have been before thee to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

9 ९ तेव्हा आखीशाने दावीदाला उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “तू माझ्या दृष्टीने परमेश्वराच्या दूतासारखा चांगला आहेस असे मी जाणतो. परंतु याने आमच्याबरोबर लढाईला येऊ नये असे पलिष्ट्यांचे सरदार म्हणाले आहेत.

And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou are good in my sight, as an agent of God, notwithstanding the rulers of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

10 १० तर आता तुझ्या धन्याचे जे चाकर तुझ्याबरोबर आले आहेत त्यांच्यासहीत तू पहाटेस ऊठ आणि उजेड झाला म्हणजे परत माघारे जा.”

Therefore now rise up early in the morning with the servants of thy lord who have come with thee, and as soon as ye are up early in the morning, and have light, depart.

11 ११ मग पलिष्ट्यांच्या देशात परत जाण्यास दावीद व त्याची माणसे मोठ्या पहाटेस उठली; पलिष्टी वर इज्रेल येथे गेले.

So David rose up early, he and his men, to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
